No regret about being here, whatsoever. What you're speaking about here is the same thing I'm saying to all the uppities for years. One day I realised that despite that I had been playing vanilla AC for years, I kept on driving the same cars. It turned out that 70% of the vanilla car set wasn't touched. Then I had a long session of testing / driving all of them. Lasting for months, that's been one of my top sim driving experiences, ever.

yeah that's my biggest issue with it too, since online support is very poor compared to modern standards, offline is how I typically play. I usually put opponent difficult and aggressiveness to 100 and then I go slow at the start because all racing AI is super slow off the line. Around turn 2 or 3 start to push and then I find the rest of the race to be much more enjoyable

I made my variation mod on the Praga R1 physics and also edited the AI.ini file. Eventually they behave.

I love some of the road cars in original AC. My favorite is the Ferrari 488 GTB, just lower the TC and set the correct steering lock, it's so much fun to drive, that low grunt from the engine and the nimbleness, and the power. Love the Shelby Cobra, too, I am using a modded sound for it though that has a more "raw" sound.
Having said that, ACC has better FFB (really!), just lower the FFB effect intensity a tad so it's not too "hard", drive in dashcam mode, lower the TC, move brake bias to the rear and the cars are amazing to drive an race in ACC, my car is the Porsche 992 GT3 and it is fantastic to drive on the Nords. I am addicted to both ACC and AC.

  • @TheMash84
    @TheMash84 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Totally right. When i jumped into AC world last year i download ton of content and then realised i was overwhelmed with choice and ending never using many of the cars I've downloaded.
This way you get bored quite fast as the quantity make your experience similar use and throw away.
To have a great experience it's better to have less but quality content and creating goals and purposes within the game.
We live in a era where we are so overstimulated and we have too much stuff available too easily.
I was going to quit AC as i dont have much time to play nowadays due to work and other personal priorities.
However, i changed the way i play AC. Goals and focus on challenges.
Group 5 cars, getting familiar with almost all the tracks the world, sticking with one car or just one category of car. Improving my laptimes.
Having too much content, it's not the solution in my opinion.

Every so often I buy a new sim, or revisit an old one after some updates. I'll spend a weekend, usually 6-8 hours getting everything setup (I use VR, motion & a lot of haptics).
But it always feels inferior to AC by a long margin in the raw driving experience no matter what I tweak. The only exception being rFactor2, I quite like the way it drives - but it's not quite there.
I still drive the standard AC cars quite often and many of them are still in my top 10, there is plenty of variety there too.

You don't neccessarily NEED mods to enjoy AC, the vanilla cars are still to this day extremely good. However, some of the high quality car mods are so good that going back to vanilla cars just feels bland sometimes. Also, there are some reworked cars like the 599XX, where if you do them back to back (the vanilla car and the modded version), you start to appreciate all the nuances and improvements in almost every aspect that these modders bring to this game. Obviously not all mods are created equal so the process od finding the good ones is challenging to say the least, but once you collect a few you like, going back to vanilla cars can become a very rare occassion

I've got over 1K cars in my AC. Mods are addicting and I can't keep up with all the content being made every week by the community. That said 80% of Kunos cars drive better then 80% of mods. I almost use mods to fill up my single player grids with interesting cars. Which is sad because AC AI is about as good as real life Forza players. There's a handful of modders I can depend on making cars that drive good but sadly most are just pretty 3D mods from Forza that drive like wagon wheels in foot deep gravel. Some dont even bother to animate wipers.

Same, there are only dozens of REALLY good mods, I am extremely picky though unlike some shilling TH-camrs... Many RSS, VRC or URD are objectively bad! I assess every single car individually based on FFB, physics, sounds and graphics, very few have all top scores.

The RS1600, like the other live axle KS cars, have one too many rigid link in the live axle, which binds the suspension shut and removes most of the rear suspension travel.
The car could probably be significantly better just by removing one of the links or making it a spring.

I don't really drive any other sim. My favourite cars are definitely the lotus 49, ac cobra, gt 40. The Ferrari f1 cars, the BMW z4gt3. So many. Obviously cm and csp have opened up the possibilities to endless hours of donut inducing loonecy. But yeah I completely agree.

Many mod cars also use the handling models and ffb from Kunos cars, somtimes slightly changed.
I personally like many of the Kunos cars. Only same are a bit questionable.
U get the best experience, if u pick one car that u really like and know how it would handle in real life (or estimate) and modify it urself.
This takes time but in the end u come up with a real copy of the car. Im working on a 1 to 1 copy of the Mclaren F1.
Would u like to test it?
I also have more stuff. I did the first crash audio fx mod that finally fixed the horrible stock crash sounds of the game.
    And some graphics overhauls aswell.

Could be aimed at me 😅
Remember my favourite Kunos car right from the beta AC version was the Ferrari 458 GT2. And used it when Isle of Man track mod appeared, just so seeminglt trustworthy responses. And enjoyed the Porche Cup car alot on especially Misano Wold Circuit and modern Spa and Imola.
Then went real world track day in a rented street version Lamborghini Huracan LP-610 - and went right back to my wheel, but got do dissapointed with the Huracan ST version - had expected it to be much smoother and agile through the tighter corners, but it felt more like a lorry compared to a GTR2 LP-610 street version mod, much more inline with my real world experience.
From then on my faith in Kunos standard cars dissapeared. - apart from some of the Lotus cars and aforementioned Ferraris and Porches, and went ever since fully bunkers in splendid car mods - and especially vintage and historic race cars....but watching this vid definitely will give standard Kunos cars a new chance now! ❤

I play on Simucube Sport 2 and the feeling I get when driving a PCup in iRacing is noticeably better than driving any PCup in Asseto Corsa. In iRacing there’s no TC or ABS on the newest PCup so you actually have to modulate your brake pedal not like assetto corsa where you just smash your brake pedal 😂. I also have a motion system and I prefer the motion on iRacing because of how fast it feels. Assetto Corsa feels sluggish.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1) I think you are just repeating a talking point you have seen online
      2) AC is not ACC and braking is different
      3) iRacing you can just cap the brake and brake very much like ACC and still be in top 5 top split with lots of cars no brake modulation needed
      4) there is no ffb for braking in iracing to be able to modulate braking from AC1 has this
      5) iracings tires have a huge physics hole where they heat up under braking or any load and don't cool down / re return to grip fast as a result no car in iracing drives realistically
      6) you can slide a real Porsche cup car around and even drift it a bit following different trajectories and altering trajectory with gas brake steering , this is not possible in iracing due to the tire issue , you can see this done with real Porsche cup cars.
      7) even with ACC and it's braking smashing and riding brake would not apply to lots of corners where you only dab the brake to adjust the car , this is most corners on most tracks.
Honestly I can only assume you are massively under driving or have some bizarre iracing specific driving style , the Porsche cup car in iracing is one of the most halarously bad SIM Cass ever produced , mostly due to how iracings tires work.

@@GamerMuscleVideos I assure you, my perspective is not merely a repetition of online talking points. Assetto Corsa (AC) was my first simulator, and I have invested over 1700 hours with a wheel in that game, which I continue to play regularly. I recognize the differences between AC and Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC), particularly regarding braking mechanics.
While iRacing may lack certain force feedback (FFB) features for braking, and its tire physics have been criticized for not cooling down quickly under load, it still offers a unique and valuable experience. Each simulation has its strengths, and certain aspects function better in different games.
My primary focus isn't on sliding or drifting a Porsche on the track, as I'm not seeking a drifting simulator. If the Porsche Cup car in iRacing is as problematic as you suggest, why was it chosen for comparison? Additionally, if AC were superior in all aspects, we would see more professional drivers exclusively using it over iRacing. Each simulation has its quirks, and while iRacing may not perfectly replicate every aspect of real-world driving, it provides a competitive and engaging racing experience.

I watch the YT channel of a guy called Harry Metcalfe. Once he did a review of the Ferrari 812 Superfast. At some point on the highway, he stood in 7th gear at some rpm I no longer recall and got a speed I no longer remember, let's say 130kph but it most definitely wasn't that. Point is, I loaded AC, loaded the 812 SF that came with the last DLC they made for it in 2017, put it in 7th gear, reached the same rpm and lo' and behold: I got the same exact speed. Amazing
