Hi Mark. That seems like a pretty impressive razor. I don't mind the scent of roses. It reminds me of my childhood. We had a back garden full of beautiful roses. In addition we had some lovely climbing roses at the back of our garage. It was a joy to walk into the garden in the summer. Sadly, my parents sold that house so it's nothing but a memory now. Thanks for your Monday shave. I'd forgotten it was a Monday so your video took me by surprise when it popped up on my screen. Have a great week mate.
That's a lovely memory, David. My memory of a childhood garden has a gooseberry bush in it. We made jam, but it has been 40 odd years since I tasted gooseberry jam. The soap, in the post shave was very nice not particularly rose scented but just a lovely scent. Have a nice week, mate. Take care.
I understand perfectly. I've not thought of before, Roy but we have roses in the garden that smell lovely. I always feel a lot of rose scent are very heavy scents. This one is lovely though, especially in the post shave. The rose dissipates and it leaves a very pleasant scent.
Hi Mark- Great shave; thank you! I haven’t tried any of the Yaqi razors, yet, but I do like the idea of a single-edge razor. I certainly hope everything is going well on your end. Be safe and be well. Looking forward to Friday’s video. Best regards, as always, my friend!
Hello Mike. This is very nice shave. I suppose it is very difficult to put a larger handle on such a slimline head but it remains to be seen whether I get used to it. It doesn't quite feel right. I do love a SE razor though. Cheers buddy, take care.
This is a very nice shave Martyn, it is just the handle that puts me off, a little. I'm sure after a few more shaves it will feel okay. It would be hard to place a larger handle on such a streamlined head.
Hi Mark. Great shave! This is a lovely razor. I have the same one you are using. I use Schick P30 blades and they work very well for me. Feathers not so good.
Hello Neville. Sorry, I took so long to reply. It was indeed a very nice shave with those P30 blades. I enjoyed this one but the handle still feels a bit strange. Cheers
Hey Mark very nice video and shave I have the new Raster V3 in chrome but I replaced that handle that came on the razor with a heavier one and it handles just fine I also use a Feather Super-Pro when shaving as I tried the Soft Guard, Pro Guard, and the Professional not efficient enough for my taste but the SuperPro does the trick for me. The Razr Rock V3 A plate is on my radar. Again nice video Cheers.
Hi mate. I have just been reading a few comments about version 3. The picture I have seen look just the same. Are there any differences that you can point to?
@@FriendshipShaving Hey Mark I'm sorry I'm afraid I cannot find any differences between the V2 or the V3 in looks or shaving but I'm getting good shaves with mine and I am seriously thinking about hanging up my DE razors and blades.
Great shave as always, Mark. It was good to see you enjoy that razor and soap combination so much. The soap sounds lovely and the razor is very interesting, especially for people who have no opportunity to get their hands on the Vector. I believe that the version 3 is either out now, or will be out soon.
Nice shave Mark with that razor. I'm with u on not liking rose forward scents. I got a sample of TOBS rose and used it once and threw the rest away - just not my thing. On the other hand I smell it in PAA CAD and can enjoy it since it's more than that.
Yes! I have had a sample of that and never even tried it. It seems, if it is not too strong and mixed with other scents rose can be quite nice. Still, I honestly don't think I would purchase a rose scent myself.
nice shave mate . i have to agree with the handle but once you have found that spot it works very well . yes sir second shave on those blades are pretty nice indeed . but i must say you shot though that against the grain pass so i guess that blade must have felt pretty smooth at that point . for me a&e soaps are wonderful but can be a bit hit or miss with the sent . glad you enjoyed the razor mate i think also having the post in the middle of the blade and not blade forward like the hawk makes a fair difference in the balance of the shave 👍
The blade seemed to 'settle in' very quickly, after the first pass; I think it will be excellent, next time I use it. I'm quite impressed with this razor - it's only the handle that feels a little strange. It is nicely balanced and a nice shave. Effective without feeling aggressive. Thank you, mate.
Nice shave Mark, and I too really enjoy my Yaqi Raster. I have a V2. I bought it as a trial to see if I should possibly buy a Blackland Vector. I liked the Yaqi and so despite the differences in materials and build, not forgetting the huge price, I bought a Vector. In the hand you could tell that the Vector was a top quality item. However in the shave, I am sorry to say that I found it too aggressive, very tuggy and plainly rough. The Yaqi Vector has always provided smooth shaves, even with the Feather Super Pro AC blades. I sold the Vector, as it was just not doing it for me. As you'll have seen The Wet Shaving Co have brought out a V3 Raster, which I've ordered and am waiting to receive. They have changed the head and the post to be a little more robust and improve the blade grip. Hopefully it will be as smooth as the V2, which I think is better even that my Razorock Hawk v3. All the best! David
Ah, thank you David. I was wondering what the differences were between the version two and the version three of the Yaqi razor. What a shame that the Blackland razor didn't suit you. You must have been rather annoyed at that. All the best, pal. Cheers
I tend to agree, the scent of rose fragrances does to remind one of "old ladies". This said, it wouldn't stop me trying or using a product with a rose fragrance. I definitely am curious to try out this soap.
It sounds like the rose is comfortably surrounded here. The razor also looks interesting, and given the price, I'm wondering if I should add an Artist Club razor like this one to my GEMs.
Hi Warren, it is a nice scent but for me, it really gets nice in the post shave. I liked this razor. It was very maneuverable but the handle will maybe take a little getting used to. I suppose you couldn't have a big handle on such a streamlined head. Nice shave though. To be honest, I don't think I've tried a SE blade that wasn't a nice shave. Cheers.👍
Hi. I like to start with just a damp brush, even if it is a natural hair brush and has been soaked, so a squeeze and shake and then I add water as long need it. It isn't really a toothpaste consistency, it maybe looks that way. I would say, less water or more soap is the thing to try and work it a bit longer just for fun 😀
MH, I must admit that I'm a miser when it comes to Proraso. I'll squeeze every drop of the bottle and then hesitant to discard it. Have you tried 4711 German after shave, my second favorite.
@@FriendshipShaving Well partner to each his own, that's the beauty of shaving "diversity." I classified 4711 as herbal. Your videos have certainly taken on a superior quality.
Herbal. Oh bugger, I'll have to try it again, now 😀 It is great that there is so much diversity. Wouldn't it be boring if we all liked the same thing? Thank you, for you comment about my videos; I really appreciate it. I have trouble doing all the fancy intro's that other channels manage, so I try for a good straight forward. video and I enjoy it.
Awesome shave video Mark. Kaizen bases are tops, they can take quite a bit of water and efficient soap, so better than the $/gm value, however, I'm not so keen on most of the A&E scents, maybe I'm just old fashioned... lol👴. The Raster is now at V3 which is slightly different head geometry to V2 and more accurate blade seating, I have not tried V3 yet but the V2 gives me good shaves with Feather ProGuard blades. If your Raster was purchased recently from AliE then it will be the V3 version. Take care and have a great week.
I must admit, quite a few of the A&E scents are a definite miss for me. This one though, is a keeper. In the post shave, it is a lovely scent (when the rose dissipates) 😂 I found the blade to fit superbly in the V2, I can't imagine how they would improve it, so I'm looking forward to having a closer look at the V3. I have been imformed by David from The WetShaving Co. that there is a delay in the V3 for some retooling.
@@FriendshipShaving The Raster did have a delay for retooling but I've received the new V3 head from David not long ago, so they should be now available. I'll try and do a V2 vs V3 shave comparison in a week or so.
You mentioned you're using warm water, is that in the inference that you usually use cold water? Being a cold water shaver myself I'm always interested when I hear of others using cold water to shave. Many thanks. Regards.
Yes, it is. I usually shave with cold water. There's no heating in the den, so if it is very cold, I'll occasionally use just very slightly warm water. I get a better shave, I'm convinced of it.
That is the main thing, David. I think, and I may be wrong, that cold water tightens the skin and lifts the follicles; the hair is wet and therefore soft, so it allows a close shave. With hot water the skin is relaxed but the follicles aren't lifted, so the shave is not so close or you get a close shave with irritation. Does that sound a likely theory? There's a whole video here! 😂
@@FriendshipShaving very kind of you to reply. Yes I think you may have nailed it. I’m relatively new to double edged shaving (about four months or so) and cold water has been the single biggest positive change I have made. Also technique must be improving I suspect, but slowly 😂
Ooh, nice! 😂 Thankfully, I don't get that scent from it, or it would never get used. Your comment really made me chuckle though. I can see how a lot of rose scents could be described as that.
Thank you Sven and Paul!
