Great video Mark, I enjoy my Excalibur and bought some heads when on sale for back ups, The chrome version I like slightly more than the Matte version but both Excalibur versions work excellent IMO. Yaqi just introduced their 316 stainless steel Romulus(shinny polished version) and Remus(Matte version) and some of the fellows who have used both like the Romulus slightly more than the Excalibur so I finally bought the Romulus (shinny polished version) on the 11.11 2023 black Friday sale. I might do a shave off between the two(Excalibur VS Romulus) like you did also to see what the difference in shave is.
Wow, that is quite a collection Yaqi make with some good names, too! It's interesting to try out these different versions and razors. I love doing it. All the best you, my friend.
@@Franshaves The Excalibur was Yaqi's first SE AC type razor head that was Zamak made, Yaqi Romulus is a 316 SS polished version that is CNC machined. The Romulus is a milder razor then the tame mid range Excalibur. Some fellows like to use the Feather Super pro blade (thicker and extends out a little more for more blade feel)that gives the Romulus a mid range shave. The Excalibur is a great entry AC SE and is affordable and gives a great shave, you can buy just the Excalibur head or head and handle combination.
Hello Mark. Lovely shave video. Enjoy your comparison shaves. The brush looks fabulous. And the soap sounds really nice. I'm glad you didn't get a bad reaction to it after liking it for a change. Hope you have a happy and healthy week. 🏴👍
Hi Mark- Great comparison shave and razor/soap reviews; thank you! A very thorough guide to both of these razors, as well as the soap. You have done triple-duty in this video, Mark, and well done! Enjoy the rest of the week. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, my friend!
@@FriendshipShaving Hi Mark, I don’t have the SS version so I can only go by the mine. Very light which means you can apply a little pressure to your liking. Works for me.
Great comparison shave Mark. Glad you enjoyed the Mood Indigo soap mate. Thank you so much for the shout out. Have just got a Vector, unboxing video will be up tomorrow with another razor for the den. Looking forward to trying it out after your review. Have a great week mate. Stay smooth and stay safe.👍
Chris, I knew there was something I had forgotten to do. I've just added your channel's link in the video's description. I'll watch the unboxing mate. I think you'll like it 😀👍
Excalibur!🤴🤴🤴 Great shave, Mark, and great to see two such vastly different price points shave not too dissimilarly. I hope that you and your mum manage to stay warm enough. Kerosene heater might be an idea?
Great shave and comparison. I didn't catch which blade you were using in this shave. But, I did the same comparison about a year ago and I actually on everything you said about the fit and finish of the two. However, I prefer the feel and shave the Raster v3 gives. In fact it's my number 2 on my top 5 list of AC razors (the Vector is number 5). The Occam's Enoch is my number 1. I really like the Raster v3 a lot!! The handle's length is also more fitting for my big owen tray-sized hands... ;O) I always use Feather Proffesional AC blades in my comparisons. Have a great week and Stay Safe! 🤙 #WAD
Hi Sig. My apologies, the blades were Feather Professional's. How interesting that you preferred the Raster v3. I have yet to try the Enoch, your number one - it must be good.
so i could not agree more on all counts hands down the vector is way more quality being ss and cnc machined the handle for me is more comfortable and the tolerances are more precise but probably not £200 more precise. the excalibur is a great razor and gives an excellent shave and i could not really fault it . why did i buy the vector well i got it second hand so did not pay the retail price and for me as said quality fit and finish is top draw . have to say that soap sounds very nice indeed mate . i hope who ever wins the Excalibur get as much joy out of it as we have 👍
Hi Paul. I think they will enjoy the Excalibur, which my predictive text is spelling incorrectly 😂 It is a great razor for the price and for many fellows who wouldn't or couldn't spend that much on a Vector, it is a terrific option. Thank you very much for passing that along to me. Have a great weekend, mate. Cheers.👍
A few days ago I watched a film on a Turkish shepherd who lost use of both arms to injury. His sixteen year old so gave up school to accompany his father. So a true son is appreciated in the Turkish Highlands or England.
Excalibur Nice one Mark, that looks like a smooth smooth razor. I’m kind of in the same boat. I have my cancer patient father with me, who is also recovering from a stroke. I’m looking at portable heaters atm, to just heat one or two rooms idk 🤷. Thanks for the video, take care
Hi Bill, I'm very sorry to read about Dad, mate. Best wishes to him, for a full and speedy recovery. We have a portable gas heater, which takes a gas bottle. I know it's still gas, but the heat it throws out, on one bar, is amazing and of course you can move it close. You're in the draw mate. Good luck.👍
Great comparison shave. I will pass on the giveaway but wondered if you have a preference as between the Vector and the Blackland -- or perhaps I should say between GEM and Artist Club shaving. I have been cold water shaving since very early in the summer and don't plan on quitting any time soon. I think it makes for a better shave, because it firms up either the lather or my skin or both. Whatever the reason, warm water no longer feels right to me. Cheers.
Hi Warren. This is an interesting question, thank you. My preference is with the Vector, rather than the Sabre, and it is purely because I prefer the lighter weight of the Vector. I find it more comfortable. I'm not sure I have a preference between the Gem and Artist Club type blades. I like them both; perhaps the AC blades are a touch more effective, although the difference could be because of the razor rather than the blade.😁
Nice comparison shave Mark! I'm always surprised when the end result is almost the same on these comparison shaves. At a tenth of the price the Yaqi is a better option if you don't have alot of extra $, and it's a good way to test out Artist Club blades/razors to see if you like them before dishing out $250 😉👍 Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! Excalibur Have a good week! Steve
Great point! It is a great way to test the different Artist Club blades, especially as they can be quite expensive themselves. An inexpensive razor and a selection pack of blades is a great way to go, for anyone. Good luck.
Have u bought the new Yaqi Romulus SE razor much thinner than the Excalibur and in stainless steel a very nice razor I find much better than the old razor when mine arrive in the mail and I did a comparison with the two razors the Romulus was way more efficient than the Excalibur. Enjoyed the video Cheers. Buy the way my new razor arrived on Sept 20 of 2023
Thank you for the review, sir. The Blackland Vector is a beautiful razor! I would love to have the Yaqi Excalibur. Please enter my name in your Excalibur give-away.
Thank you for your comment Dan, it's a good one. I'd never dismiss a razor just because it was inexpensive. The Excalibur is excellent, as you know. It is a copy, but a good one, in my opinion, and opens up the market for this type of razor to everyone - not just those with a lot of money. Cheers.
Noel, I spelled Excalibur incorrectly myself! If you see this and can edit your comment, please change the spelling to 'bur' at the end, so I can catch it in the automatic search when I pick the winner. Thanks.

I absolutely love my Yaqi Excalibur. It does well with any blade I throw at it.

Nice brush, interesting sounding soap and a great comparison shave. I enjoy fusion jazz and smooth jazz. Have a safe week Mark.
Thanks Roy. I have tried so hard to like jazz, especially when I was younger but it isn't in me. I am jazzless. Take care, pal.
Great video. The Excalibur looks like a great budget option to try. I’m glad you were able to switch out your soaps
Thank you. Yes, it was great to be able to swap a soap. Wonderful. This one didn't burn 😀
Very good comparison, very useful.

💚💚👍👍, thankyou for the link to pauls channel, always looking for quality shaving channels.
Welcome!
Great video Mark. My Yaqi had the pins set incorrectly an the blade sat uneven for the blade reveal.
Oh no! I don't think there's an excuse for that.
Great comparison Mark. I have the Vector titanium which I use with a super pro artist club blade. Sublime shave. 👏👏
I bet the Titanium version is very nice and a lovely weight I imagine. Very nice, Nick. 👍

Great soap description. I wonder if they offer samples?
I don't know. Surely they might, if asked. I thought it was a really good quality soap.

Both trim looking razors. The expensive razor seems overpriced considering they give similar shaves.

whats the shave brush
It was a brush from Elite Razor. I'm not sure if they still carry it or not
