OMG! I've been a gigging drummer for 50+ years. Ian Paice was, and still is, my favorite drummer of all time. This was the best and most exact duplication of "Lazy" from the "Made in Japan" record I've ever heard. Kudos to George's incredible skills, once again! (I would pay good money to see Terry Keating's reaction to this video!!) Thank you, George! Seeing this first thing Sunday morning made my day.
Rock Jazz drumming is a free style in its own right. Up tempo but ahead of the beat. Nothing like George having fun in a groove you in joys playing. Ian Pace a left handed drummer is always a challenge and fun to listen and play.
I always loved the snare work that Ian done and his tuning. His groove and dynamics was like nobody else. George you always get all the details perfect
George get Nathaniel Murphy to play along from Chicago Music Exchange. Murphy has a new interview video with Rick beato, I'm sure you've heard of him being from Chicago and all. Hey to Terry .You need to get him back in the groove of things God love em lol ✌
Absolutely Brilliant. Fantastic fills across the kit on this high tempo song. Love the fact that Paicey started with jazz and you still are. Love to hear more. Have a brilliant weekend George - hope you are gigging ! 🥁🥁👍🏼🥁🥁
Thanks George! Love to watch you play! Paice is one of those guys that if you love Bonham, you gotta love Paice! Have you ever watched his channel? He gives great tutorials and breakdowns of his most famous bits! Great job George!
Ian Paice makes this song swing. Easier said than done, yet he made it sound effortless. George, you do a great job duplicating this swing feel to this great song. Well done!
WOW! Absolutely fantastic George. Spot on man. I remember listening to my big brothers Made In Japan LP as a young kid about 45 years ago...hooked for life on Deep Purple. Zeppelin and Sabbath quickly followed.
Great rendition, Perfect actually!! I could've met Ian Paice at The Summer Pops marquee here in Liverpool back in 03', I had a band rehearsal and didn't want to miss it, I'm still kicking myself to this day!! Thanks GF brilliant as usual!! 👍
Brilliant stuff George. What an album. I only last week listened to the deluxe version which has the shows from all 3 shows from that tour. Can I just say, maybe can I foresee a Mitch Mitchell cover in your near future??
This is an absolute gem of a song. Jazz intro in to that kick-ass riff. It's got a real jazz/blues/rock ensemble feel to it that lets every musician add something to the mix and shine. Thanks George, you're the perfect fit for this song with your Jazz background. Loved it!
been coming here for bonzo content for years and now to see you also play my favorite deep purple song in the universe as well! this specific version from Japan. killer
Amazing tune and playing George! This is just a freakin ' masterclass on the great Ian Paice. Great jazz, rock, & blues fusion here. The joy of that swing from the ride to the crash cymbal at the 2:37 mark, and the double stroke roll at the 7:47 mark was just epic, one of your best videos yet! ✌❤🥁
Sorry I’m late George any rookie can be in FB jail but you have to be a pro like me to be in TH-cam jail lol 😝 I read all comments below and I concur with everyone of them.

Hey George how tight is the bass drum, just on finger tight, medium tension ? Great playing by the way !
It's fairly medium tight batter, very tight reso
MADE IN JAPAN is my go to for Purple
Hands Down for an amazing performance by the entire band
good performance my friend!!🎸Love your sound
When you study someone like Bonham's style in such detail, is it hard to mentally readjust to a different drummer's style?
Not really
Ian Paice on the drums yeah!!! I saw Paice on the Burn tour. Dang!!!
❤👍🏻
Magnificent! I've seen Ian perform many times, lately last November. The man's still in great shape and touring a lot. That is incredible
Pretty sweet George. Powerful!
