No one can play Elvis like Kurt Russell
Except Austin Butler
agree with that... but he's not accurate however xD
@@keonburton1942kurt looks more like Elvis, but Austin interpretation is better
I always thought, and still do, that Kurt's portrayal of Elvis was the best!
No one has done a better impersonation of the King, as good as Kurt Russell, IMO.
Kurt Russell is one of the best actors, who sadly never received an Oscar. Kurt has a remarkable ability to transform himself into whomever he wants to be. This is one of his best performances.
You say “never received an Oscar.” Like he’s dead or something. He can still do it.
@@wesleytwiggs7687 I think they meant that he didn't get one YET.
@@RockinAllDay yeah but it’s pretty strange to leave that out
@@wesleytwiggs7687 You've got a decent point.
very underrated actor...He CAN transform himself into any role!
How did this man not win an Emmy for this?
He did.
@@lebleubayou No, but yes, he was nominated. The film was nominated for a Golden Globe.
Kurt should've . Not sure what other films he was up against. A lot more quality films were put out then. Now, a bunch a crap just hoping for a nomination. A nomination is considered a win ???? ....NOT.
A work of genius. But Kurt seems like such a down to earth guy, that he probably took not winning in stride. He knew his worth! And so do we!!
Because he did it not very well.
Elvis never performed this way.
Kurt is a little bit overactive 🤣🤣🤣
The whole movie.
Best actor to play the king! 🔥
Omg. Kurt Russell transformed himself into Elvis.
Kurt has always been an underrated actor in my eyes. He is one of the best but sadly, will never be. However, I doubt if he even cares.
....with something itching in the costume...
Kurt Russell was the best onscreen Elvis ever. No one could ever top him as Elvis. No one ! And that's an absolute fact.
yes Austin Butler he can sing and moves just like Elvis and he also plays guitar
@@frankg5559 I ate my own words. The words I wrote a yr ago were true a yr ago , not anymore. In this situation, someone better, named Austin Butler .... walked in. There could never be another Elvis but because of this movie, maybe now people will finally get what Elvis was about.
I'm old enough to remember - Elvis was that fast MUCH of the time. He has slower versions, but he did it this fast, too. And he was NOT smoother, when he was younger, that came with time, not age, but mellowing, just as Elvis' voice also mellowed. Kurt has done the best of anyone. Shame he got no recognition for it.
A MILLION % AGREE ....
The film and Kurt was before it's time, considering how many recent biop films have been released. One actor won an Oscar for Freddie Mercury film. A pity Kurt didn't get nominated for one.
Kurt was overactive.
Elvis never performed this way.
He got an Emmy nomination for this. I call that fairly big recognition (yes, he should’ve won, but he won in the eyes of the public. We don’t know who actually won that year, but here Kurt is, in the class of Hollywood icons).
Kurt nem se quer cantou, apenas dublou Elvis.
Slow down a little Kurt! Elvis never moved that quick in Vegas!
Only 2 years after Elvis died.
Kurt captured the spirit of Elvis energy. If you look at the Dorsey Stage Show performances of Shake Rattle and Roll and Baby Lets Play House.
Good job Kurt is awesome in this movie.
Kirk Russel is the best Elvis there ever was or is. Every thing about him is the true Elvis. Looking into his face is like seeing Elvis again
Ele nem cantou, só dublou!
It’s Kurt Russell not Kirk Russell
Kurt Russell, Excellent job saw the movie a few years back..👍👍👍🎯💯
John and Kurt. First collaboration.
Anyone notice Charlie Hodge in the band? He was the one who caught the guitar. He always caught Elvis's guitar and gave him his scarfs.
Yes he did but not in 69
And he didn't wear jumpsuits like that in 69
And it was millie kirkham who opened vegas with him not kathy who is on stage too,lol
I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing that info!
After his star recognition on the Young & the restless, David Hassellhoff was once considered for the part of Elvis
Another good Elvis Presley movie before 2022. Kudo to John Carpenter who also directed this drama movie.
He nails this!
I had the soundtrack to this album on vinyl when I was a wee lad
My brother is the bass player in this film....
That's awesome!!
WoW. What is his name?
CoolStoryBro
God dam Kurt Russel nailed the Elvis Presley award for his best impersonator AND Micheal st Gerard
This scene must have brought Charlie so many memories...
Ladies and gentleman Kurt is in the building but Elvis is still in the building
I owned them on VHS and DVD long before TH-cam.
I agree Kurt is over the top but here is what you are missing. The film is from 1979. The average person watching the movie then only had memories of Elvis dancing and the new audience had never seen it before. Although VCR's were about a year old in 79, the mass accessibility of Elvis performances was not the norm until the mid 80s and then not to the highest level until DVD in the 2000s. Kurt was representing the idea and spirit of Elvis.
exactly. we're seeing Elvis circa 1956 in the visage of Elvis circa 1971. great nonetheless! love this movie.
Best actor to play Elvis! 🔥
wow !! I didn't know Kurt Russell played Elvis in a movie
Not only did he play Elvis in a movie he was IN a movie with Elvis
@@Nitedawg1 wow ! that's awesome
@@tunkunrunk and he kicked Elvis in the shin, lol
Kurt looks like the king anyway....."The King Lives" comeback movie for 2021, are you up for it Kurt?
I can't imagine anybody else playing Elvis but Kurt Russell. He's got Elvis' moves and temperament down pay.
yeah Austin Butler way better than him
The man that took the guitar from Elvis/Kurt is the real Charly Hodge !!!
It’s Charlie not Charly
So good 💙
That's Entertainment...!
I am buying this DVD...!
Kurt Russell makes a great Elvis...!
More Elvis Movies Thanks...!
Let me know when the auditions Start...!
Steven Goutzioulis in boxing match
Kurt was nominated for a TV Emmy
It's so cool to know John Carpenter directed this just after making Halloween (1978)
Quiet Demon
Yeah he couldn't get Michael Myers to play the role so he got Kurt Russell lol
great Elvis!!!
Obviously I'm old, this was a big deal when it came out. Kurt killed it. As always.
From Horror, to Action, Comedy and a biopic...John Carpenter and Kurt Russell have fuckin' range!!
For me Kurk Russell has his mannerisms hands down .... and Dale Midkiff is excellent and both look very much like Elvis and all 3 were and are Handsome as HELL !!!
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN ELVIS FAN ... I loved the feeling he puts into Any song ... And let me tell you EYE CANDY To the point! you just can't take your eyes off him!
There are very few men I think are as handsome as these 3 men WHY? Because they are beautiful but Totally Manly ....
It’s Kurt Russell not Kirk Russell
@@ElvisPresleyfan80 seriously you screw with my post AFTER 4 YEARS FOR this! Go away ... FAR! FAR! AWAY ... PEST ... SPELLING POLICE WHAT AN A HOLE ... IF U HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY SAY NOTHING AT ALL BAD MANNERS I SEE ... SHEESH
No one is going to be exactly like the original but Kurt's performance is 50 times better than any moron who has attempted to do Elvis in tv and movies since. At least Kurt had some of his natural mannerisms and loosness.
This comment has aged very poorly…
@@TheRealBGregz Not really. Austin was amazing but he had to study Elvis for 2 years and had the big budget treatment of a theatrical film, along with makeup and some CGI. Kurt had a natural Elvis vibe. I've seen the new movie 3 times. I'm literally responding to you as I walk out of the theater. Kurt also had a low budget made for TV movie. And how could the comment from 9 years ago age poorly? It took 9 years since that comment til this movie and from 1979 to 2022, 43 years for anyone to do well since Kurt. Of course they were both the only 2 true biopic attempts. The others all focused on certain periods
@@Price70 He didn’t “have” to study Elvis for that long, he just did that simply because the pandemic gave him the time. Kurt had the opportunity to, not only, grow up with Elvis (but he even worked with him). Secondly, makeup was also used in this movie. Lastly, there were no CGI enhancements to Austin.
@@TheRealBGregz Kurt was a little kid when he met Elvis for a few minutes on It Happened at the World's Fair, he never worked with him. And in 1978/79 there wasn't even VCRs, let alone DVDs and TH-cam. You pretty much just watched whatever the studio provided on film. When Austin is looking at BB King through the window they blend Elvis' face. Watch it again then look at his face after that. Austin looks nowhere near as much like Elvis as he did looking in the window. On the 68 special during Jailhouse Rock there are two quick glances where they use Elvis' eyes then in-between Austin's eyes, even with makeup they are different. On A Little Less Conversation it's clealy CGI, look at Austin a few moments later when they play Viva Las Vegas on the bus. Totally different. Unchained Melody, before they cut to the real Elvis, the entire moment with Austin is blended with Elvis. I'm not saying Austin's face was removed completely, but it was blended. I've been an Elvis fan since 1975, I have watched those exact moments on VHS and dvd for decades and used to stare at him on pictures and in his movies. Baz can say what he wants but anyone with common sense can see where it's only Austin and when it's both. Those who can't are newcomers or the most casual of fans.
This comment has not done well since😂
WoW !!!
Did a great job even till this day
Kurt Russel foi o melhor ator que já imitou Elvis Presley, tanto na interpretação como na aparência. São Paulo/Brasil.
Hi great movie I love it the best
KURT RUSSEL mejor actor impresionante ELVIS PRESLEY FOREVER GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR 💕 ❤️ ♥️ ❤❤❤❤BENDICIONES 💕 ❤️ 💖 2024 23 1 SALUDOS DE URUGUAY ♥️ 💕 🇺🇾 💙
Charlie Hodge right there even in the movie.
"Oh, Hi Elvis."
THE BEST!
take note Baz Lurhmann. this is how its done right.
think you meant, take note from Baz ? and to Kurt.. TAKE NOTE FR0M AUSTIN BUTLER! (i love Kurt but no.. i can't with his Elvis.. in these kinda moments)
Saw the new Elvis movie. This one doesn't even come close to this movie that Kurt Russel starred in. Applause again for Kurt. This shows that you can't just copy Elvis.
i say Austin Butler takes this one🤷🏼♂️
Austin Butler was better
sarcasm? this is cartoon compared to Austin Butler's Elvis portrayal, c'mon..
Bravura da paura . Il grande RE del Rock and Roll vivrà all’infinito . ❤️👑😢🎸
Actually, that's Ronnie McDowell singing as Elvis..Not Kurt...Kurt made a great Elvis!
KURT DID JUSTICE
urm........
For those who like Elvis, i suggest the Luigi Luppo channel. He does something amazing there for the fans.
Kurt Russell is handsome.
elvis es unico este es cualquiera nadie supera al rey
Cualquiera sabe que como Elvis Presley no existe otro pero Kurt Russell lo imita
Increíblemente bien!!
Wonder how many of the band and back up singers were actors and how many of them were the real artists who performed on stage with Elvis.
❤
Kurt as Elvis still is the best movie performance/impersonation I've ever seen to this day..Austin Butler's and Shawn Klush's performances as Elvis are really good but not great as Kurt's..imo.
I agree that kurt Russell is the best
Kurt acted ina movie with elvis . It happened at the worlds fair
❤️❤️❤️❤️
bloody hell he's good, whats the film called?
Elvis. 1979 made for tv.
@@lacyndamathes3715 The movie version ran for over 3 hours ... I saw TV version on BBC, and cut to just about 3 hours. Kurt's portrayal was damn good!
I watched the movie in 1979 and I loved it, but I found Kurt Russel's character very caricature. Still, I liked it.
If he could remember kurt russel had something to go off when portraying him cus as a young lad he had a small part in 'it happend at the world fair'
No one has ever done Elvis better than Kurt Russell. The new movie Elvis is ok but the guy playing Elvis doesn’t come close.
🙌
As a young boy saw this movie. And I got the movie soundtrack. I was so disappointed to find out it wasn't actually Elvis singing or performing 😂
Wow I want an outfit just like that.
Well the outfit is one actually worn by Elvis
@@MrPhantooz OMG even BETTER
Fun fact he kicked Elvis as kid.
u can see charlie hodge in the back
His voice also wonderful , very good !!👍👍❤❤
Kathy Westmoreland as well.
Now that i have seen the new movie with Austin Butler i have to say this sounds so stupid dont get me wrong i like Kurt Russell but that wasnt Elvis voice. they had to use Ronnie McDowell voice I have been a fan for 67 years this new movie will be the close's thing you will get to Elvis.
But I like the movie
Elvis just did not move like that at all
not quite haha
En español latino sería excelente ❤
Ronnie McDowell is singing the vocals for this movie. Kurt is lip syncing. Kurt’s acting is amazing on this film.
Kurt was way overactive in this movie.
Elvis never moved that way.
Elvis was high strung naturally and I just feel that impersonators of him over act his performances and his private life.
Vocals by Ronnie McDowell
What's that ticking noise (que harry Potter video)
i seen the movie on tv and even bought the soundtrack on a cassette, they could have made the faster rock and roll songs a lot stronger, the arrangement was 5 outta 10 for excitement compared to the original.
Nel cast c'è il grande Charlie Hodge- amico e collega di Elvis Presley
La de Michael Gerard y Jonathan Meyer los que más se parecen y lo interpretaron acercándose mucho al Rey.
That is Elvis' real 1972 Comet jumpsuit NOT a copy graceland loaned it to the movie production!
That is a very cool fact! Thank you!
And never got it back.
Did someone speed up the film?
To heck with Kurt Russell. Trent Carlini is the imitator that looks most like Elvis. As far as voice, this is Ronnie McDowell, the voice doesn't get any better, that's why they used his voice for the movie. If it didn't sound exactly like Elvis, they would have used Elvis" record, it's pretty much common sense.
He really sings that’s crazy is not Elvis voice in playback that’s Kurt singing
Kurt visited vernon presley and graceland to get a feel for elvis vernon said your about the same size as elvis then gave him a jumpsuit to try and thats it in the movie
:)
Playing the dude he kicked in the shin 😅
Fun fact thats elviss actual suit from 7e
love Kurt but love Elvis more xxx
Kurt's more talented as an "actor who can sing" than Elvis was as a "singer who can act."
Austin Butler was better. He should’ve won an Oscar for his performance as the king👑
No he wasn't, the movie of Austin wasn't even as accurate as this one, plus Austin still thinks he's Elvis, no bueno. 😂
elvis solo hay 1 todas las imitaciones sobre elvis son payasos .yo creo ke elvis es el unico ke no deveria tener imitadores y es el ke mas tiene.su musica es eterna con o sin !
Wasn't he the kid who kicked Elvis in It Happened at the World's Fair? :o
It is indeed. Young Kurt as a child actor. One of his first acting jobs. There is a clip of that scene here on you tube
Finally!!! Man if nobody mentioned it, I was going to.😂
why not with elvis original Voice?
That is also Elvis's real jump suit, Vernon allowed them to use it.
no elvis never wore that ,they created it for the film,he doesnt even have a jumpsuit that looks like that
elvispresley30 He did have one like that, he had it on in Madison Square garden in 1972
Demasiado sobreactuado!!!!!!!!
Kurt did a good job as Elvis. Thanks. I just recorded this song yesterday. I do Elvis like no one else. I sing and play bass guitar and do solos to his songs. Plus I look like him. Once I know more songs and have everything better, I think I'm good enough to be an Elvis Impersonator playing shows. My last 4 videos are doing his songs with about 40 more to come. I'm not as good as Elvis, and I just started playing after 14 years off, but I can still do this. Do you think so?
You look more like Conway Twitty in his rock n roll and country days.
hes good but I feel hes too energetic and twitchy Elvis didn't twitch his shoulders so much on stage. the moves hes making are more reminiscent of Elvis when he was younger and he wasn't on the drugs so he had the energy to move like that.
Every things was fake But Charlie Hodge was True.
i wonder if Kurt Russell reused that suit in 3000 Miles to Graceland
i believe it's a new suit he had
