I liked Gerard too. But he didn't put enough effort in his speaking voice. It sounded great occasionally. Also he refused to wear blue contacts on his brown eyes.
Actually? Russell was laughable. The movie was very shallow and poor.
This new movie by Baz, will really dive into the relationship with the colonel and show how elvis's soul depth and diversity thrived, despite having a manager who knew nothing about artistry.
Looking forward to seeing it.

I was surprised to find the dvd in widescreen at Best Buy. It was filmed for theaters in Europe first in 35mm. Then broadcast here in full screen.
Don't want to start an argument, but Austin put 2 years into research for the movie, he also sang. For me he was better than Kurt and I am a big fan of his.

@@80steen44 yea but I’m not talking about looks, I’m talking about how he captures Elvis’s character himself. Even Elvis’s wife says that he may have done the best job with this movie. C’mon Elvis’s wife, the main person today who knew Elvis. If she says he had a great portrayal as her husband then I would take her word for it. She says that it felt as though her husband’s spirit was actually there as she saw butler in action. Js🤷♂️Also I think his voice for Elvis is better, and he actually sang the songs.
@@bambambenny8894 he sings a few of the young Elvis songs but the more mature songs are Elvis recordings, like the 68 special material in Black leather, If I Can Dream, Suspicious Minds and Unchained Melody. All I'm saying is that for a low budget TV movie in 1979, Kurt did a really good job, especially considering he was the first to try it. He reminded the standard for 43 years, that's over 4 decades

I like Kurt Russell and he was good, but he isn’t tall enough. At 5’9” he’s quite a bit shorter than Elvis’ 6 ft.

Loved Kurt from his Disney days & he's still a great actor today. Yes, he made a great Elvis with the same similarities & especially looked like Elvis at Glady's funeral & in the army uniform but now 40+ years on movies have improved technical wise & Austin Butler did a great job in the 21st century....but having said that our handsome Kurt still did an amazing job here & in 3000 Miles To Graceland where he would once again don the studded jumpsuit.

Never knew… Bing Russell (Kurt’s father) played Elvis’ dad. Season Hubley (Kurt’s wife) played Priscilla. Saw the movie when it came out and was impressed with his imitation. Loved it.

Up till Austin played Elvis in the the Baz 2022 Elvis movie Kurt performance as Elvis I always thought was the best. But after seeing the once in a lifetime performance that Austin gave and he did actually sing in the movie. In the early years it was all Austin voice and in the later twars they morped Austin and Elvis voice together. Personally I feel both actors gave the best performance portraying a person who was and is so worldwide known. It is very hard to do a performance that wvery person is gking to like. But both of these guys gave amazing performances and gave everything they had 2 deliver such amazing performances.

In 1978 when the t-v movie ELVIS was filmed , Kurt Russell wore the real Adonis suit with the permission of Vernon Presley.
But in june 1979 Vernon died and the suit was never returned. It was put on auction and now it is on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando.

I agree that Kurt, and Michael did a wonderful job on both movies, but like Marvin Gaye, sang, "ain't nothing like the real thing" but I did see both movies when they came out the first time, and I'm glad someone's keeping Elvis' memory alive. I hope one of these days he will be in the schools history books, that would be cool bcuz it's better than some of the music that's coming out today .

Elvis a un charme naturel, un sourire irrésistible, une voix hors du commun inimitable !!!... de plus on nous montre un Elvis bagarreur, arrogant, désagréable.... à l' opposé du King qui était humble, souriant, proche de ses fans et de ses musiciens...rien à voir avec celui qu' on nous montre dans ce film. En outre, Kurt Russel est plus petit de taille et n' a pas la tenue de scène et le jeu de jambes d' Elvis.
