- A huge nerf has been placed on light mains, specifically targeting the invisibility cloak, with apparently more adjustments to come down the line with changes to the invisibility and changes to the stun gun. This one's a very contraversial week, and there will probably be a lot of mixed feelings for light players. Time to look at new light guides for Season 2? :D

I'd wish they looked into thermal vision against invisible cloak. Many times when I have used the gadget sometimes I don't see them when they go invisible. It makes no sense.
Someone said Thermal on Medium and I actually think that might be a shout... Idk why but I want to try it.
That's not a bad idea, it would definitely help compensate for the recon senses. Still, I have 2 clips of encountering invisible cloaking lights and with thermal on and during then they are so transparent. It's frustrating especially going against meta weapons.
Thermal should also be able to see mines and c4s just to give it a little extra viability. Always walking into them when I have thermal on so annoying
@@THiiXY In a ranked setting, you're forcing a light player to avoid an entire specialization and gadget, if the light player takes any of these two and the medium is using thermal, he is going to have a disgusting advantage over the light due to lights design being focused around his gadgets and abilities to offset the low HP he has. Look how often lights use thermal vision against each other in the final round, pretty much every time, thermals design is flawed and a crutch against cloak, not taking thermal against a light in the final is considered throwing. I personally hate how I'm forced to take it for those final rounds and having to play safe and scared as I know the other light is taking it. Instead of having the ability to roam and ambush and use the massive play space to my advantage.
For the stun gun,
I was thinking to add in a charge up before firing the stun. perhaps 0.5-1 second. If in cloak, it deactivates the cloak when you charge up the stun.
Getting stunned by a cloaked Light class from behind and getting picked off is kinda annoying.

That's just how light has to be played though, mate. The entire discussion about light balancing doesn't feel like a genuine discussion about balance, but rather like people complaining about the playstyle you have to adapt to play light.

all they have to do with cloak is make the noise using cloak a bit louder so you can hear when someone is using cloak so they can be less sneaky but still sneaky, stun gun regen is already slow on top of having to reload it after use, just have it to where we can still ads when affected if they just wanna nerf it, its a “stun” gun lol

Eventually there wont be anything left to patch for the light class. i can foresee the light class only having one dash, a grapple the length of a bull whip, and one invisibility cloak every 30 sec. - __-

I'd love the stun gun to work on turrets, and I think the data re-shaper would be better as a defensive AOE attack.
Would be funny to turn an incoming rocket into a pot plant.

The stun gun is arguably the biggest crutch tool at light disposal.
The problem with it, is losing one extra space of utility for a stun gun just doesn't give much flexibility
Glitch grenades? Turrets, shields, traps, nukes, very useful for overly tech reliant strategies
Frag grenade? Reliable damage over range.
Goo grenade? Angles, escapes, and platforming
Gas n pyro grenade? Area denial or explosions
Stun gun doesn't have too much value, because it better used to turning 2v1 or 3v1 scenarios to your favor, than getting cheap kills as a overkill
Why use the stun gun on one person and have it go to waste, if I can just backstab them with the dagger?
The benefit of a dagger, is that all the time spent on reloading and shooting shields/people goes to constant repositioning, reviving teammates, or catching enemies offguard. One right click is enough to kill one person (heavy is left with a face slap worth of hp) and can the whole loadout to support the team.
There is no fun in a light coming behind you clocked, stun gunning you and then killing you in 0.1 millisecond.

If Embark buffs Lights HP regen rate and the grapple hook then I don't care what they do to any of its other equipment I just want a better grapple hook
I feel like lights should be able to regain health on kills up to 50-75% of max health would help a lot
They’ll still be squishy keeping to what they are now but for the ones who frag out, it would be beneficial

You have the smallest model in the game, the highest speed and the weapon with the least TTK. You don't need more health, you need more skill
was it just me, or did invis used to have farther audible move-cloaking sound? I simply go to the nearest teammate when I hear it and its used to be that if an invis light is in the same or adjacent building, 1 floor above or under can be audible, but since couple of months ago I always couldn't hear it until its too late, discounting lights that can shoot decently quite beyond range of stun gun.
Luckily im a evasive dash user but i feel for all our invis users out there. I hope after these embark locks in on making light a better class overall
I like how dramatic nerfing one build is making everyone. Like I used the cloak in season 1 n did go off using it but I looked into more builds and ended up maining dagger/dash. Way more fun. Because that’s like what a game is for. Fun. It’s not just one way to play the game and lights are still viable. It’s not over Jfc.
I agree there are other specializations and everyone should give each one a try. But your argument makes no sense why would you want a very underpowered specialization when you can balance it correctly. Some people like using invis
@@thekavage5263 I didn’t say the nerf was justified just I don’t get why that one build being nerfed means the whole class is useless nor is it cause the be this dramatic about. They really should’ve balanced it or idk maybe fix the cheeks tier audio for footsteps or something to make invisible people easier to track.
They might be viable, but it’s almost a guaranteed that you are at a major disadvantage. 2 mediums and a heavy will destroy any light
@@ExtremelyOnlineGuyah ok thanks for clarifying. I think the community is really up in arms about this because (at least I’m from most people I’ve talked to) grapple is a total meme that isn’t really good so light players can only really use dash in a competitive environment now.

i feel the range of the stun gun needs to change, idk if they will do that cause a actual stun gun range is almost like the range of your arm you can say. but to compare reality with a game idk if people will agree.
Yeah exactly, is this isn’t a “real life” game so they can get away with making a lot of stuff emphasised but I think that range increase they did a few patches ago wasn’t even asked for even I was surprised haha
I believe though that because of the higher initial cost of using cloak, the drain should be a bit slower and the recovery rate when not in use should be a bit higher, which would balance it out a bit more, cuz as it stands it looks like you can only be cloaked for like a few seconds which is just not enough time for anyone

Most lights will probably switch to dash, be terrible at it for a few days, then get crazy good and everyone will say nerf dash hahaha

Id be happy if they do nerf + buffs. Nerfing used weapons and buffing underused ones is way more fun to me

The invis is problematic only because of how it looks on smaller screens. I can easily spot and kill lights 70% of the time on a 2k monitor, while my laptop friends constantly complain about invis. As i see it, lights were already pretty weak at the start of s2, now i hardly feel their impact. (Talking about gold and plat matches, can guess that diamond light mains are built different)
Invis - Needs a change but I'm not sure this is it. I'm more interested in the changes visibility that they mentioned for a future patch.
Stun gun - The best abilities are those that empower the player and give them options, not those that disempower other players and take their options away. It is a spectrum, but stun gun sits too far on the disempowerment side imo
Mesh shield - About a clip to knock it down feels right to me, but I'm up against it more than I play it so I dunno.
Yeah I’m actually pretty happy with the mesh change, FCAR will need to reload so that’s fair and it makes AKM indirectly better. I mean shield used to be crazy strong but it’s like we keep tipping scales each week and rotating to the strongest contestant or gadgets haha
Well said. I may be in the minority as someone who plays all 3 classes, but Lights needed to be adjusted. In my region, my server is LOADED with Lights. Lights everywhere. And when I play as Medium or Heavy and feel like I’m getting crushed, I switch to Light and level the playing field. I don’t use the stun gun, but I do you use Invis and it’s, dare I say, too useful.

The stun gun only needs a range reduction, that's it. Play with your team and you're good.

Nah, stun gun logic needs to be reworked. If a heavy has an rpg in hand, the stun gun forces you back to your primary weapon for the duration of the stun.

Light needs buffs not nerfs. Get rid of invis i agree. Its cheesey and annoying but light is so fragile without invis that you make the smallest mistake and your dead. Dash is decent but it’s still pretty bad cause even if you escape, taking any amount of damage makes you even more fragile and you have to hide for 10 seconds to get your health back. Light needs more hp an hp regenerating gadget or a damage buff across all weapons to fit the glass cannon role. Right now they are glass but not a cannon

Light has actually felt good in a long time and I really don’t mind the cloaking nerf but stun gun is okay (don’t even use light) maybe they should buff the tracking dart vs nerfing the stun gun

The diamond M11 was the reward for hitting diamond in the beta 1 and the AKM was for the open beta! The FCAR is this seasons reward! :D

For me on the light nerf side i would have seen a increase to 20 or 25 % as Activation cost for the invis and i want to be able to ads when u get stunned maybe make the movement slower or something i really dont like to hope for hipfire to save me.

Invisibility in this game as a gadjet “vanishing bombs” is just enough invisibility. Its balanced. Not a specialization you activate on a single button press. REMOVE CLOAK!
Yes, i would like to see a new specialization that gives the light more team play options cause the current ones are all sellfish. Maybe something like a speedboost could be cool. And for the people that like invis could still use the vanishing bomb.
@@tr0mp3t33i’ve revived plenty of teammates by moving their trophy to safety with grappling hook or dash. And I’ve moved the objective with plenty of time to set up defense with grappling hook

I play light more then the other class and I think the nerf for invisible was not needed

100% it's clear that right now there's this split or scenario where people are just going to complain no matter what. The thing is when you're Riot or Valve, usually they can just close their ears and let the community get used to it, but this game is in a growth development. I think this is really difficult but splitting the changes makes sense, because you hardly see lights in ranked anyways.

I disagree. Unfun things will be unfun in casual or ranked even with them being better or worse in certain modes.
They just need less demotivating casual stompers and off meta counters.

Stun gun should not be an almost instant win vs melee loadouts.
Cloak is annoying and kinda unfun to deal with when they recloak immediately too but I would rather cloak just get a fun rework.
I play medium but if a light can stun and kill a heavy in one second while it takes me longer with an akm then that’s crazy
I just play as light with the sword, dash, and invisibility bomb the best combo that isnt being nerfed anytime soon

Idk why they have tracking dart and sonar to light when that was the main counter to invis give sonar and tracking dart back to medium maybe keep it on light aswell and GIVE THERMAL TO MEDIUM

My vision with the stun gun as a tool is a disabler, not a kill confirmation tool, because when it is this oh yeah, if i hit you, it is gg i will feel unsatisfying to use, i have that feeling atleast that my kills arent earned.
On the heavy note, the mesh shield nerf is good but i think they took it a little too far, i vision something like 800 hp would be good damage, unless damage begins to creep i think that is a good amount. Goo gun too, a replacement for the goo lock could be that the goo would push you slightly backwards? Idk i think that could work, then some tech could prob be made
Heavy with mesh shield still more than 1000HP thats insane. I’d go with 650MESH 350HP HEAVY. Max 1000HP wich is enough
Yeah I’m not sure what they can do with the goo gun problem, because a lot of the times especially on power shift you can get stuck inside it, but mainly it’s pretty strong locking players, either have it as a push back or just destroy after half a second or so, even if there’s multiple shots after (I know at the moment it CAN destroy) but very inconsistent:)

0:10 THiiXY pushing a platform around the world 10x is not 400km, that would make for a really small world...
I would move some of the power in the stun gun. I'd say keep the ADS and ability disable but allow for complete or at least partial movement control like crouching and increase the recharge cus rn it feels super fast. Move that power to allow the stun gun to disable things like mines and turrets which would make sense as like a point targeted glitch gun. The ability to run while tasered would at least for me solve my biggest gripe with tasers and give them a use other than harassing players in disabling deployables.

They need to revert the stun gun. No question. The only reason embark removed it was skill issue. Even though most of the time players are punished for missing stuns shots. They don’t show those clips.

Nah you're not the only one, I totally agree. Teams with Lights usually get stomped in my games too. I think HMM or HHM is still way better.
Honestly I don’t know, I’d love to be like “yeah I support this” but they are the ones with the data that we don’t have, so if they see it out of line, then I guess it needs an adjustment

@@GloGangPromoterr It's difficult to be certain without the data, but I agree with you. Light's whole deal is punishing players that are out of position/by themselves.
It's likely the case that in a competitive environment, where team coordination is essential, Lights get stomped on. Then in casual play (or games with a lot of solo queue players with no mic), the Light is able to shine and punish teams. So casual players think Light is OP, when in an actual ranked environment they're pretty bad.
Light is bad in a competitive setting, casual people are complaining so they get catered to. Everyone is up in arms because casuals think light is op so needs nerfed but competitive players know light is super weak and possibly not viable anymore. It’s just frustraiting

I love powershift it exposed so much information regrading classes and set ups because were stacked on a platform spamming shields and bubbles even glitch grenades count stop us we make fortress with barriers and APS in corner of platform then droped bubbles and shield wals

0:08 The whole world around 10x is a lot further than 400km. It was 400,000km :D Which means a single diameter is about 40,000km.

honestly the light class needs the stun gun, with such low hp and quick mags, its the only way to level the playing field a little. each class has a meta, for light, stun gun is a must. if its nerfed, theres no viable reason to play light
we're 2 seasons in, the fact that the stungun was allowed to launch at all the way it was is insane.
the cloak issue isn't that hard to solve, just have a decloak time instead of being able to instantly fire out of it.
stungun shouldn't remove literally every single thing you can do other than fire. let us aim down sights and jump at least. or cut the range on it because you can tag people from absurdly far.
other than that light build is almost fine. they already have loads of tools and weapons to work with.
BUT Evasive dash+sword is what needs a fucking nerf that shit is godamn annoying trying to land hits on them and then they stungun you for good measure just to rub the salt in harder.
Dash needs to have a delay before you activate it again or something.
As a former light main who used cloak it for sure is going to change how i play and the stun gun i would change how immobilized u are.Right now its impossible to kill while stunned

The balance changes that Embark have made will never cease to blow my mind. I am flabbergasted that we have still not seen any medium or FCAR nerfs despite the fact that 2/3 to 3/4 of ranked players are playing medium. Past gold most ranked teams are either MMH or MMM. Absolutely unbelievable that embark is ok with this. They are killing their own game and it is very well deserved at this point. The MMMeta has gotten so stale.
I can not play medium and I play light ir heavy but the mesh is useless now and light gets worse

As a dash main I normally run vanishing bomb to even out the playing field against invis lights, yes invis is a crutch most crap players use to cope with their lack of ability in the game but there needs to a be a more logical nerf to it that doesn’t essentially take away a large portion of the classes only viability when it comes to objective focused gameplay.
Yeah I really am mixed, I saw that invis was a bit out of line so I stopped playing it in S2, just because people were complaining and now I have the practise on dash. Honestly I think players will now SOMEHOW complain that’s dash is OP hahaha
@@THiiXY funny thing about that is dash mastery at a high ranked level has such a large skill gap that unless grapple is heavily buffed or invis will stay meta and the few dash mains will be called hackers as I already deal with, can’t have it all sadly 🙃
Invis only works like a crutch against equally as bad or even worse players. At high levels of play, cloak in no way guarantees any safety and only works to take positions safely and to escape, should the surrounding terrain allow it (which it will, if you position yourself well).

Hm, invis nerf might be bit too strong. They could've apply increase cost if ability is used within X second after declocking. Achiving same results without making the ability worse.
Data reshaper is still not worth using. Too map dependant.
Stun gun deffinetly needs changes. Not fun to play with nor againt it(especiially when you stun target and get gun downed by said target. Power of rng!)
Also I think sniper rifle should be moved into gadget slot and rebalanced. That's gonna fix the problems the sniper brings
What problem have you been having with snipers? Because for the little amount of team play they provide, the damage is kinda needed.
I agree with the Cloak nerf idea. The biggest problem about fighting against a Cloak Light is that they can get away easily from a gunfight especially when you're using a gun with a low RPM.
Yeah I like that cloak idea, honestly I’m mixed about invis on light right now it’s super annoying to play against if the light is very cautious but smart and they deserve that. Most lights though play way too aggressive and it’s easier eliminations.
@@THiiXYthat's the point of light though. Light is not meant to just go in and get kills. The reason that cloak is so meta for light is because dash and grapple are pretty shit. You're really visible with cloak and can't take positions as effectively, severely impacting your survivability. Dashing to dodge works against bad opponents but not in higher level play, grapple is even worse when it comes to this. And glitch is the only way light can play objective. If you know the light will have to come to you, you can EASILY pick him off if he tries to go for a kill. Getting in for a sneaky stun and getting out is the only way light can provide proper use for this team (other than spamming glitch on point, which is countered by aps, done and mesh shield) when it comes to cashout defense. Mediums and heavies can use their shields, healing, turret explosives, antigrav cube, demat etc. to either safely push a stealing team or to move the cashout to prevent or at least stop the current steal. Light also has brach charge but that barely has any other use than blowing a hole in the floor beneath the cashout.
this update is a slap to the face of people like me who have put time in the game to get good. even with invis and stun, I got wrecked the first few weeks of playing. now I’m good at all classes. And embark is making changes based on whiny new/bad players who aren’t capable of dealing with a 150 HP class. if they’re just gonna listen to bad players then why should people invest time to get good at the game.
In fps games the above average player is so few compared to the brain rot cry babies that it only favors the devs if they make the game easier for the idots because it keeps the player base higher as they feel listened to and ultimately keep buying skins. The only reason to get gud is purely personal as the devs could careless about only a handful of the player base. It’s your choice to look at this as a game ending nerf or a reason to adapt and improve. Honestly tho as a cloaking light in high ranked elo lobbies this isn’t an issue rn

when u shoot stun the opponent is in stun for 5 seconds i believe, i think they should personally half it but everything else about the stun gun is balanced now. and if you as a heavy or medium keeps dying to being stunned then that is just a pure skill issue for not hearing me in the first place, i dont use cloak and i never have, i always use dash and u can hear that shit from a mile away, so if u dont hear me dash near or into u and you have ur back to me and i stun u, that is your fault for not turning around.

As a heavy main I feel like cloak was fine. I can literally see them; and if I can't see them, I can hear them. Stun is the only thing that needs a rework. When EVERY single engagement starts with a stun... that should tell you something.
I don’t mind the stun gun, its real use to win matches is stopping cashouts and other few situational uses. Using it for kills alone is self reporting imo
Light needs a seringe for auto-healing, for the stun gun, its in a sweet spot rn, mby add a bit more cooldown to it but thats it, simple as that : light = stun, heavy = rpg, med = defeb.
As a light main im pretty happy for the cloak nerf since i really wanted the dash and grappler to compete with cloak, but now cloak is just ass tbf, they should have added a ''combat cooldown'' which would not let u insta cloak after throwing a nade/stun/shoot, mby like 1s
rn cloak is useless af, they should just remove it, we already have the vanish bomb that does the work
This patch kind of confirmed what I was afraid of. Embark is taking balancing backwards. The way you break metas is to allow for counter play. Other options that may be better than the meta. What Embark is doing right now may be something that might work in battlefield games but not here.

The problem with stun gun is that any thing that takes away another persons ability to play the game is always a bad thing to have. Stopping someone from moving and using abilities and being able to aim. It's just not fun to play against. That's literally everything you can do in the game, move, shoot, abilities.
Honestly I'd be happy if they made it much stronger but just changed the way it functions are a core level. If it were me i'd totally revamp the way it works, maybe give it something that stops incoming healing, or a debuff that increases the time before you can regen, or maybe even something that increases the damage they take.
Invis was supposed to close the hp gap, but with such a high activation cost, it's useless now. They're going to hemorrhage the last few light players left. I played two matches after the patch, and I don't plan on returning unless they undo the invis nerf, or rebalance light to make them viable and fun again.
Same with me I’ll be back next season hopefully because I’m not even gunna try an grind ranked with them killing light like this absolutely brain dead we have 150hp that’s 4 shots from an automatic fcar 😵

what if the mesh shield was 500 hp but keep the same speed for walking and running with the mesh shield
Hmmm I’m not sure because heavy is really kinda meant to be a “fortress or destroy fortress” contestant I think below 500 would just get everyone playing goo gun and I promise you that’s more annoying and will be targeted eventually :D

thank god, just thank god lol- I've played from both ends (casual and comp) and invisibility is an extremely powerful tool for people who know when and how to use it. Others who can just be invisible for 75% of the game (if loaded with a cloak and vanish bomb) are ridiculous, it's easy to get picks if no one can see you so I'm glad that greedy lights are getting a little punished for spamming that. For heavy, I didn't really see the need to nerf the mesh shield because it's already a big bullet sponge and can almost be instantly shut down. I'm also glad that the Data Reshaper is getting some love which goes to show Embark paying attention to the stats. Overall 8/10 patch notes, good stuff indeed. 😎😎😎

I think the stun gun should either be removed or make the stun last only a second or less so that it cancels the opponent's momentum and give the light player a chance to catch up.

oh the finals is in a bad status right now, there are so many light they play just for fun in casual and when they nerv all meta light things that could be a problem. Light in Rank is hard but after this patch light is unplayable.
Yeah the game is in a weird place lol, sometimes in games there is just something that exists as OP but it feels as if we have a lot of reverting to do, some things are just obliterated, like heavy C4 for example haha
Stun gun is functionally ok, I just think it needs a range nerf. Currently, a light can stun you from a distance and stand still while melting you. There is zero threat or counter play. With a range nerf, a light player would at least have to keep moving or risk being killed via hip fire.
Why would the nerd invis when dash and zip line are so limited. Lights are basically useless now tbh the ttk isn’t making up for the uselessness of the abilities now

Light players need to be the movement class, hook and dash are specialities for that and they are fun if a light players kill me because he moved out of my cross to much times I feel that he is a good player, cloak is the exception and isn't fun get stunned on side and can't do nothing because your gun isn't good on hip fire, that's the reason why I can't use another guns
I mainly play ranked and the light class has the lowest pick rate by far. There was no reason for them to nerf the light this hard. If they picked just one of these I’d get it, but all of these nerfs are just making it so that there’s only 2 viable classes. The meta feels kind of stagnant rn because there’s only a few viable weapons, and they’re just making that worse by fully eliminating one of the classes practicality

I play mostly ranked, and lights aren’t that prominent. However, being invis and stunning from the back is a stupid way to get a kill. People use what’s easiest rather than what takes skill to pull off. That’s why you don’t see lights using grapple in ranked. I’m glad they got nerfed. It was the only class they hadn’t touched in a while.

To be honest with you I think the main reason light invis and stun is so annoying is because of how bad the footstep audio is. You just don’t notice them come up to you. Having a cloak ability combined with poor footstep audio is bound to p*ss people off.
I’m a medium main but I feel like 33% activation is too much of a nerf. It should be 25% so they have a guaranteed 3 charges and 4 if they let it charge a little longer. Maybe the stun gun range could be slightly reduced to 10m.
Overall though I believe the main reason so many have an issue with it is because of how bad the directional audio is. I find it laughable that even a 6”8 350lb heavy can run up to you without you noticing but it happens way too often because of how poor the footstep and directional audio is.
I genuinely believe changing that would make a world of difference because it is one of the fundamentals of games like this. Fixing the fundamentals would allow them to make the best choices for everything else because they would have a solid foundation. Just my opinion.
