Such great young musicians to keep jazz vibrant, Christian Scott, Ambrose Akinmusire, Jamire Williams, Tyshawn Sorey, we are blessed with so many young vanguards.
Thank u Christian for your music and for being such a nice guy. I saw u at the New Morning in Paris (july 2012) , what a great show, and what a powerful sound. Your grandpa can be proud of u. Nice project and nice cover too!
As much as I adore the current tour line-up, with Richardson on Alto, Fonville on Drums and Braimah on Percussions.... this was the absolute shiznit as well. Jamire is amazing and I love Matthew Stevens' playing with Esperanza Spalding. Here too of course.
Don't know the make but it's a cross between trumpet, coronet, and flugel horn as Christian exlpained on the Jimmy Fallon Show last night. He sat in with the Roots Band.
Saw them yesterday at the BIM huis in Amsterdam, only with John Escreet on the piano. They sound even stronger now, after a couple of months on the road! New album already on sale last night, glad to have it signed by Christian, Matt and bassplayer Kristopher Fun. Go see them...
+4550lvl It's been 2 years since your comment. Have you decided to take up the trumpet yet? I hope so! You can learn if you're really dedicated! Good luck to you!
Maybe instead of imitating you could look at it is continuing. I don't know if ur being hard on this cat or just saying that he pretends he chews gum like miles davis, which I never really noticed.
Jamire is beyond the groove!

I saw Christian and his amazing band....live on North Sea Jazz 2012...and it was fantastic...this is the real future of jazz.......:)
Scott is the best...
Im proud of this young man keeping jazz alive and he's very talented.
Christian Scott reminds me a lot of the late great Miles Davis.

Kris Funn's sound is so beautiful!!
How about a description of the music and musicians. WBGO??.?

Sometimes you have to open and close your jaw to let all (MusicEtherMuse) of it in
Keeping jazz alive? Jazz is alive and well my friend. This was a killer performance. But jazz isn't dying.
One of the younger generation who has decided to stay with traditional jazz instead of going the smooth jazz route or the jazz fusion route.
Hot as ice
Is this song on his upcoming album? I know all his music and I've NEVER heard this one!

I love my CS but it seems like I have heard a good amount of these chords/melodies and solo lines before..even tho this is a new song. C'mon man
it was a joke. Matthew Stevens looks a little like Wayne Rooney, a soccer player.
Adams
is Christian chewing gum the whole time?! haha!
Maybe instead of imitating you could look at it is continuing. I don't know if ur being hard on this cat or just saying that he pretends he chews gum like miles davis, which I never really noticed.
n
NO..Matthew Stevens!
Nope. He imitates Miles Davis in his later years.
