Thanks alot! I just finished it only took about a half hour to complete, it's not that hard, organizing the screws was the hardest part but necessary. I wrote notes to where the screws belong that was helpful.Once again I couldn't have done it without this video
Thank you for your feedback, glad it helped. I took the photos to remind how I had taken it apart so I could get it back together again, then decided that others may want to do same, so seemed like the good thing to do, it helps a lot.
Thank you. The white gear type piece caused me a bit of trouble and had to dis-assemble and re-assemble the vacuum a few times and in the end it was just not getting the gears into the grooves properly. When you lift the piece onto the ball it can catch slightly out of groove and not work right. If you use a flashlight and make sure it's in the right place it works fine. Thanks again.
Thank you so very much I was ready to give up until I saw Your answers to my questions, I was going to try to get a manual but couldn’t find one. I very much appreciate you .
Thank you for your comment, took me a bit of time, but going slowly helped me a lot. took the photos to make sure I could get it back together again and thought other people may appreciate the help, cheers.
Just finished this repair job. I could not have done this without your detailed instructions. I chose not to remove the white gear but was still able to swap out the old part with the housing loosely attached. For anyone who needs it, the Dyson part number is 920682-01
At 40 seconds, how do you get the grey cap off? Twist it off? Pull it off? If you twist, is it a particular direction? Ah, got it. Twist anti-clockwise.
To Skanda Srinivasa, I cannot find your comment on here although I was mailed to say that you did comment. I sourced the part from 'espares', in the UK
Good instructional, format is fine for this type of work, much better than waffling commentary :) One thing I noticed is that you may as well have replaced the yoke part at the same time as the internal hose; the plastic around the the axle on the non-filter side is clearly seen to be split and this will just result in the axle tab breaking free from the rest and your half-wheel coming off mid-vacuum! These axles are a poor design that beguiles you with thoughts of a robust ball whereas in fact any side load on the half-ball and it creates torque on the axle, causing this part to split. My half ball leapt off in this manner, but fortunately (?) my Dyson is too young for the internal hose to have perished too. I picked up a replacement yoke on the bay for around £20 so not too much of a cost issue (RRP £40).
Yeah, I remember that when I was doing the hose, at the time that's all I was fixated on, just getting it replaced. This machine has taken so much punishment over the years and I'm surprised there has been no more damage. I will have to get around to replacing the part soon as I don't want to be breaking off mid vacuuming either. It doesn't get used the way it did when I had the dogs so the days of constant cleaning has diminished now. Thanks for your comments that have reminded me re the yoke and btw the hose I got was a genuine Dyson from espares as I couldn't find it on the Dyson site at all.
Hi The removal of the internal hose was really easy to follow, thank you. Putting the ball back together - not so. It would be great if you could show and describe exactly how the gear should be positioned and how the the different parts of the ball should be aligned with the parts underneath
Glad you watched the video but sorry you had difficulty in getting the ball back together again. The white gear piece was a bit fiddly if memory serves me and had to try a couple times to stop it falling back out, was a bit of a pain in the backside. The gear is grooved and really only goes in one way. Another commenter on here says he used a torch to help him see how it fitted and managed that way. I only took the photos so that I could remember where everything went when I was reassembling the ball etc. Posting on TH-cam was an afterthought when I thought that others may benefit from them. I assume that you also watched the second part showing the ball being put back together. As far as I know the parts can only be fitted back on one way and I didn't have any problems in doing so. If you haven't managed to get it back together as yet, I can only say, take your time, look at the parts and try and see how they fit into or onto each other, once you see it then it should all fall back into place and help finish reassembly. Sorry that it wasn't described in more detail but space was limited putting the text onto each picture and not blanking any portion out. Thanks for watching and commenting, does help me out if I put another video for something like this on.
I was just having a look through the videos there to see the part you were talking about, the wee white gear can be a bit fidgety to get back in but it only goes in one way and hopefully you manage to get it done. Then I saw your next comment there, hope all is well and thanks for watching.
@@timymax If I remember rightly I put the gear back in just before I put the side back on, think I had to hold it with my finger and the parts went back together okay. Been a while since I made the video so memory isn't that great on it.
@@horatio260 thank you for the advice and your patience with helping me. The reason for my confusion was I didn't realize I had to screw the gear back into place, I thought I just had to hold on to it and wiggle it back into place. My second frustration was the casing was shaped oddly and I found that the gear that I was having so much difficulty with wasn't lining up properly. I figured out why it wasn't lining up was because I had it screwed in too tightly and it was not lining up because of it so I unscrewed it a little line it up and then re tightened it and now it's working great! Your videos didn't explain that so thats why I was so confused but Your videos are a life saver and they are still helping me with fixing my vacuum cleaner even as I type this
I took the pictures to remind me where everything went for reassembly, there was no plans to do a youtube video at the time. When I went through the pictures after I was finished, I decided then to put them on youtube as a guide for others.
Its not bad, just helps me to understand better hearing more details of what the parts are called and a description of the process. I will definitely refer to it when my part arrives.
My cheap plastic hose on my Dyson just broke. Now I have to dismantle the whole unit to fix it. The original Dyson was an excellent vacuum. This cheap plastic monstrosity is a disaster. I'm just going to throw it away and buy a better engineered unit.
Just had a comment about the video telling me that hose replacement could have been done in under 5 minutes, he posted a link to the Dyson website showing how to replace the hose. It would appear that the person didn't really watch the above video properly, as the Dyson in his link is obviously a newer Dyson machine than mine, shown in this video. The new one has different fitting and is easy to replace in a few minutes. If my Dyson had the same layout then I would have used their website, but it was only posted by Dyson on 17th May this year 2020. The person has since deleted his comment as it would appear he realised his error that the one above is different. I will post a link to the Dyson one anyway in case someone has the updated machine. th-cam.com/video/6FoJB7Q4YAE/w-d-xo.html
It's not too hard to do, just take time in following the videos and hopefully you will be able to get it done. I had never tried anything like it before and knew nothing about the workings of the machine. Can always do what I done, photgraph each part before taking it off etc then you have a reference to put it back together again. Good luck.
Thank you for such a detailed explanation, you are amazing 🙏🙏
Thank you for watching, I appreciate you taking your time to comment.
Many thanks for taking the time to make this video. The tips were excellent and the methodical stages made this a simple follow the instructions task.

Your answers to my questions,
I was going to try to get a manual but couldn’t find one. I very much appreciate you .
The gear got me too. The symptom was that the vacuum’s feet wouldn’t pop out and stay put. 😊

Thank you for making this video. I was able to do the repair and get our vaccume working again. Clean and precise video👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and nice comment.
Thanks for this. I got mine back together and had an extra T8 screw. Going through this disassembly video, I found it at 4:57. :-). Cheers!
Glad you managed to find it, thanks for watching.
Great instructions, part 1 and 2 were exactly what I needed. I just replaced the yoke service assembly, and it works perfectly.
Thank you for making this video. The change of the hose was pretty painless!
Thank you for commenting, glad it was useful for you.

@@fenceman7067 Hi, not sure on the part number, but check out item 132007585492 on UK eBay which is the one I bought. Good luck with your repair!

yes, nice. But in my case its the next section of hose, the one leading to the changeover valve that needs replacing!
So very helpful!
Thank you.

The little white gear fell off of mine when taking it apart. I'm not sure how to put it back on again

So basically take the whole fucking machine apart to replace a hose?!
