Richard, you SAVED my butt today! Working on DC41 could not get it to lock in the upright position until I saw the part on the correct placement of the white gear teeth. THANK YOU😂

I really appreciate your video, and it is always satisfying for a DIYer to see an expert make mistakes on the re-assembly! My wife has been complaining about our Dyson Ball for some time. She always complained of poor suction, but I never experienced that. Turns out she uses it mostly on carpets, while I usually use the hose attachment, which worked just fine. I was on the verge of buying a new vacuum when I discovered that the COV hose was completely disconnected! My model is slightly different, but your video was still very helpful. As a DIYer with a house full of cats and long-haired women, I have taken apart many vacuums (and carpet shampooers) over the past 60 years. I am convinced that the designers intentionally try to make the machine as complex as possible. The very fact that they use a combination of T8 and T10 screws, when either size could have been used exclusively, is evidence of this. It is too late for a new career, but I could have improved on the design of almost every machine I have worked on. I recently made a minor repair to a steam vac with a clogged supply line, and it took me two weeks to put it back together. I would try for 30 minutes each day, until I had to scream at the ceiling and make a martini. I watched dozens of videos on my exact machine, and eventually I found the one that said the handle needed to be at 45 degrees to complete the assembly! I am hopeful that my youngest college grad will be moving out soon. When that happens, I will send her off with the Dyson, and I will contact you about a new vacuum.

Very helpful video. It only took me twice to get the gears aligned up correctly. Thank you!

Highly recommend these Dyson ball vacuums as they do a great job and are highly repairable. This internal hose replacement was the last remaining job on a week long deep cleaning of my 9 year old DC65. Only had to replace the floor brushes, filters and internal hose. Hairy dogs and country living made for a hugely dusty, hairy mess inside. I ended up fashioning my own replacement strip insulation and spongy gasket on the cyclone where Dyson only sold the entire replacement component. If I'd found your channel first, I'm sure it would have saved me some time! Looking forward to the rest of your videos. Thanks!

My back wheels will not click into place any longer. Just started happening a couple of days ago. Replaced the strut and the locking mechanism, but no change. When I took apart the locked side of the ball, the ridge that holds that piece has deteriorated and it broken down. Could that be causing the issue? I can manually lock the wheels in place by stepping on them, but the front of the vacuum still kind of pushes up when moving it forward while vacuuming. Is it time to replace my DC65 with an Animal Ball 3?

How do I find that hose to purchase online? Great video. I have to get a T10 screwdriver to finish.
I am an old lady, and your video was awesome.

Hi Diana, I bought a couple of screwdriver bit sets for working on computers a dozen years ago from Fry's Electronics. Not sure if any of these types of stores exist anymore. Anyhow these sets consist of one handle and a bunch of interchangeable bits and driver heads. My second set also has multiple small plastic tools for opening or popping off plastic parts that snap together.
