Fantastic film showing how the railway really was a fun place to work whilst being very professional in their work Thank you for sharing and bringing back happy memories of those days
Probably a legacy of Midland Railway practices where sidings were often only accessed via a reversing move off the main line like you see at Earle's Sidings.

Ah, Grindleford where I watched a lot of trains in the 60s. Nice film.
Thanks for sharing this. Only a railwayman could film this.
Thank you for posting. My old school in Chapel was on it.
jimbo22uk mine too.. Doesn't look like that going past anymore..
Hats off to you Steven. Driving trains is fun as it should be:-)
thanks for posting - I have become interested in the area after obtaining the Train Crazy DVD
was this part not part of the midland route through to St pancreas., I'd have loved to see the Blue Pullman still running
Is there a sound problem?
Can someone tell me why Earles Sidings didn't have leading points from the East?
Should have read West. Trains approaching from Edale wouldn't have to reverse over the crossover taking minutes blocking the whole railway.

Sad we don't have 4 tracks between Sheffield Midland and Dore
UK Trains should have VHF/UHF radio on board now. They didn't in the 1990s
We just need the ine through Dore redoubling and three tracks between Sheffield Midland and Dore to increase capacity.
