One thing that everyone seems to miss out in a get home pack is foot care. You're likely to end up walking a lot further than you're used to. Pack blister plasters, Moleskin tape, and ideally a spare pair of socks as a minimum.

Well thought out. There is always "one more thing to add" but you may want to consider a light weight Mora sheath knife and swapping out the light for a headlamp.

Good advice! I do actually have a head strap that my light attaches to.. I forgot to put it in there..🤔 thanks for the reminder!! , and thanks for watching!

In a high threat situation a flashlight on your head is an easy target at night. Even a handheald flashlight should be heald out at arms length to your side to draw any potential fire away from your vital areas in a night/very dark situation where the enemy may only be able to see your light.

That's 1 of the best and most realistic set ups that I've seen on you tube. My 2 add on suggestions would be a cell phone charger and a light weight battery pack to recharge your phone off of. Everything else is perfect though!

A few extra pairs of rubber gloves are always good to have. I wear them under my outer gloves. They keep your hands loads warmer and if your gloves get wet your hands stay warmer.

It's really nice! Since I live in Sweden, it's very hard to get a licence for carrying a concealed pistol, but a lot of the other stuf got me thinking of changing some of my get home bag. Keep up the good work!

    • @idahoprepper
      @idahoprepper  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I can imagine, we have states here in the US. Such as California that make it very difficult to attain a concealed carry permit too! But here in Idaho it’s very free, there is no license required to conceal carry, and no limits on magazine capacity.. it’s very nice, but probably won’t last long with the way politics are going.. anyways, thank you for watching!!

I too carry a edc bag. Always use the rear pouch, easiest access, if you turn like your cowering you can draw, and leaves other pockets that need to be opened available for other necessities.

Great set up, well thought out. May I recommend a folded-up trash bag? If the situation calls for it, you can put the bag inside it and hide the tactical-ness of it from others. In an urban environment plastic trash bags have a stigma of gross, don't touch. They have other purposes as well. Again, very cool.

Nice video, Looks very well thought out.
Dollar General sells boxes (24 count) or Slim-Jims for under $7. And Lipton Cup-A-Soups packets are also pretty cheap. Between the two, you could make a pretty quick soup to keep you going, and they won't take up that much room or add that much weight.
Good video, I enjoy it. Thanks for sharing it.

Lots of good suggestions by previous posters. Here are mine. I am old and slow so I will take longer to get home. I keep a hiking staff in my vehicle. Helps a lot walking and can be used as a weapon. Individual alcohol wipes are cheap, light and multi purpose. Clean a wound, sanitize a knife or start a fire. Single use sanitary wipes are also cheap and light. Clean a wound, wipe your butt or other parts. Tea candles. You can make a mini heater out of a beverage can with that multi tool. I like your filter bottle but I carry a Life Straw and a stainless single wall bottle because it can be heated. Where you live you would be able to melt snow. In that cold consider a few packs of hot chocolate mix. Maybe some just add hot water dry pack food. I will have to check out those jelly beans. I kept a well equipped blizzard kit in my vehicle when I lived in snow country. Too heavy to carry but it would keep you alive if you got stranded.
Something else to consider is the ammo for your Shield. You may be looking at heavy winter clothing which will affect JHP's ability to function the way it should. My Hellcat with 12 rounds of Norma NXD 65 grain fluted bullets weighs 22 oz. Soft barrier blind. Also less recoil for faster follow up.

Great video but if I may add 1 common thing I notice in a lot of bug out/get home bags these days is the ifac section is seriously lacking. You can’t just have a tourniquet. You aren’t always gonna get shot in the arm or leg unfortunately. I would recommend at the least adding some quick clot and some packing gauze and maybe even a chest seal. If you get tagged in the hip chest or stomach a tourniquet ain’t gonna help you. Need to get that hole packed tight and sealed up. Other than that tho again cool video good stuff just some food for thought. If you’re “ready” to put holes in people you need to be “ready” to patch holes in people as well.

Well thought out, but not knowing your specific situation seems to be lacking a few things as commentors have pointed out, especially foot care if walking any distance.
Personally, I think the bag is too small for your load out. I say this because you shouldn't have stuff hanging or attached to the outside like you do except for quick deployment. Everything should fit inside until needed. Saves having it fall off or disappear because it snagged on something when not needed. Plus all the stuff hanging outside the pack also screams what the pack is, defeating the gray man appearance. Additionally, if you're passing through civilization areas on that trek, you may find you need to gather some extras but have no room to store it.

Re: firearms, any specific reasons you want to carry it in the bag and not on your person? I also consider it is a risk when off-body carry.

I world say LARPing to some degree and ideally yes, it would be for a situation that hopefully never happens. I try to watch these videos as a way to get people thinking about different points of view on preparedness. What’s hard to convey is the mental preparedness aspect and working with your bags in the field to sort out what you actually want.
