I do minor plumbing repairs at my church. When someone says that one of the toilets isn't working right, I always pray it's not the one Kohler that we have. The American Standard ones are easier to get parts for and just easier to fix. So pretty, piece of junk. lol.
Std. Kohler toilers used to be called “Wellworths”. All Kohler toilets years ago were three bolt patterns. They HAD TO HAVE Kohler dbl. beveled tank to bowl washers. If I went out on a job - Kohler tank to bowl leak & I didn’t have those special beveled Kohler washers - forget it. W/o those washers it’d leak again. And yes they were a bitch to tighten the three bolts evenly. Sometimes it was like tightening down an engine cylinder head. Good job again . . .
American Standard toilets are a bit easier than Kohler's but install is not that much more difficult. The ones I really don't like are the smooth sided "easy clean" clean toilets as there is a lot more stuff to install on the flange and lining up the bolts that secure it to the floor can be difficult as you have probably experienced as well.
Dude every time I go to install these I pre tighten the nut and washer on the tank bolts cos there’s always atleast one that doesn’t stick out past the bowl, I think all service plumbers could go on an hour rant about how shitty Kohler is now. It’s sad cos the only toilets that are 15 years+ that I offer to rebuild before replace are those classic 2 piece Kohler with the gangster flush and all universal parts.
Kohler design team always make a simple toilet looks like rocket science...its just doing one simple job get rid of crop.Nice work
Really appreciate the extra time it takes to video all this fun stuff! Cracked toilet!?!? what a crack up!?!?
“Short, fat, proud of that”. Love the Toto Drake over here.

I like A.S. Cadets. They even give you the install throw away wrench

A toilet doesn’t need to be so complicated. The Kohler designers must be trippin’ dude ; )
All the best!
