    I performed in Elvira's show at Knott's Scary Farm a few years back and we had a few celebrities come through to watch. Paul Reubens was the only one who came back stage to greet all the staff and performers after the show and even took pictures with us! He is a super sincere and sweet person.

      It's worth mentioning that not everyone has time to go back stage and do photos and meet people. They aren't jerks or snobs or 'care less' but they have done a full show (so.. you saw them during the show right?) and then they have all kinds of obligations, they also have things like makeup, changing, showers, fielding calls from their kids, divorce lawyers or maybe doing an interview. So you don't need to say "..the only one.." like that as if there was just one guy who cared.

      @@televisualfreedom4024 Carmen Electra was at Kings Island amusement park inducted into their performers Hall of Fame a number of years ago. She had been a dancer. She was very friendly, down-to-earth unpretentious all smiles greeting anyone and everyone. Her husband was taking pictures like anyone visiting the park would do happy to be there enjoying the time. Just like you know normal people ; )
      I've been around a number of performers. When it's show time or in front of the cameras it's an act what they do to make a living. Behind-the-scenes just regular people. Often times goofier.

      I remember something he said once about his work, about Pee-Wee, like if he was sending any message it was that some people and things are a little weird, and that's okay. Not that it's necessarily GOOD for being different, just okay. and that resonated. You can tell that was genuine and he's really just someone who wants to have done an okay job and made people feel okay.

She said that after his "mis-adventure" in Florida, Disney cancelled his $10. million dollar contract to syndicate "Pee Wee's Playhouse," but years later after enough people had forgotten about it, the show was picked up by other network platforms. Along with his movies and other promotions he apparently came out okay, but unfortunately not as well as with his original offer.

      Coward? Pee Wee had already ended the show before he was arrested citing burnout and an overall decline in quality. The only things the arrest ended were syndication reruns of the show and any potential child-focused projects Paul may have had in development.
      Both consequences are pretty obvious and straightforward. You don't give money to a public masturbator for a children's show. That being said, it was a surprise that Paul ever got a children's show in the first place. His performance as Mr. Hamburger in Cheech and Chong would be enough to end most children performers and Paul's work as a stand-up always toyed with blue adult humor. Let's be honest, Paul should have never gotten the green light for Playhouse. He was far too progressive and subversive for a Saturday morning audience, but somehow he made it work and it happened, and it was amazing.

    • @slimydick23
      @slimydick23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what ACTUALLY happened was... Pee Wee's Playhouse had ended, the final season was shown, it was in reruns.... CBS had 4 more episodes of reruns to show and they were done. Paul was arrested. He was totally done with the show, that's why in his mugshot he had long hair and facial hair, he wasn't going back. CBS did not show the last 4 rerun episodes they ended that run early. So yes, it was sort of cowardly but not that big of a deal as nothing was left on the table.

    I've always enjoyed Paul's humor, but to know how sincere he is as a person, and that he truly does if for people, and I 100% believe that, his gift of wanting to make people happy is really what life is about, not all of the negative, horrible acts that have always been prevalent, but much more visible these days. I spent 30 years playing in weekend cover bands, and never really thought about what people get out of it, but for me it was the one way that I could connect with people and not feel like a complete idiot. I loved and still love Pee Wee and Paul. He brought a ton of silliness and joy to the world. I'm saddened about his passing but will certainly never forget him or his work in the industry.

    Always liked Pee Wee since the 70’s when he first appeared in the lime light. I would imitate his laugh and people would laugh and they knew who I was doing. This video shows his love for his audience and fans. Great guy.

    I have loved Pee Wee since I was little and that hasn't changed a bit. My daughter watches Pee Wee's playhouse all the time. I love that we can share something together from my childhood that she really enjoys. Thank u Paul for coming back and being one of the funniest men on the planet and not letting others come in the way of u performing. Thank u so much!!

    I've often thought that it takes an amazing amount of energy and discipline to pull the 'Pee-Wee Herman' character from wherever he does, and that at his age (and after all the up's and down's he's gone through over the yrs) that he wants to put it all out there on the line once again, I cannot help but be impressed. I hope that movie-exec's he's courting have the wherewithall and 'follow-through' to make it happen.
