    This is, in my opinion, the greatest album of the 80s and possibly ever!! A complete chronological story from the first song to the last. Beautiful and amazing concept from one of the original progressive metal bands 🤘🏻💥🔥🙏🏻💯 Still listen to it regularly

    Great reaction bro. Many years later I actually got to tell Geoff that this song broke me after my gf left me, and luckily we have reconnected and she was by my side as my fiancé as I told him this. He said he knew that song could apply to many and not just as part of the Mindcrime storyline.

    This is #12 of 15 songs, on the Operation Mindcrime story line.
    In the Suite Sister Mary video you reacted too (song #8), Nicky is told to kill the Priest and Mary. He puts the priest down, but lets her live. He begs her to come with him, but she stays only to be brainwashed by Dr X, to commit suicide. In this song, Nicky is thrown into depression over losing her, Figures he wasn't meant to be with anyone, and writes it all off.
    If you ever wanted to do an entire LP in order, to dissect the meanings of a story, this is THE ONE.

    Queueing for my first covid jab a couple of years ago, I realised my phone hadn't charged. I needed to entertain myself, as it was a long, long wait. I decided to see how far I could get replaying Mindcrime in my mind. I had to skip a bit around SSM, but damn that album has stuck with me! Because I had the rest of it down.

    Love this track. Eyes of a Stranger is great too. Saw them live in ‘91 where their stage shows were like the music videos, the entire concept album. Btw came out in ‘88 but when you say it ‘sounds like stereotypical 80s’ i know what you’re trying to say but honestly back then no band was similar to them in terms of sound, technique, tempo changes etc. Essentially they were the precursor to Dream Theater.

  • @crimsonskies1445

    Queensryche fan since 1983 and Operation Mindcrime is a concept album. This song is like opening to the middle of a book to start reading. Start with the EP and move forward every song, it's worth it...

    This is one of the greatest concept albums of all-time. It’s up there with Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.” Certainly the best in the 80’s.

  • @JCGoKingsGo
    @JCGoKingsGo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Great song, but you should really listen to the entire album as it is a concept album (and heralded as one of the BEST concept albums of all time). It truly is a musical/lyrical journey from beginning to end...then you're appreciation for this will literally skyrocket.

    I don't think of Queensrchye being stereotypical 80's. They were progressive metal before there was the genre. More like Pink Floyd meets metal IMO (at least for Operation Mindcrime).

    Listen to the complete album. The nun wasn't just in this video to be provocative. She is an important part of the story. Yes, he waxed her. They had him under drugs and he didn't realize what he did. He just needed to follow orders. Great reaction!

    You really should hear the great concept album ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ where this song comes from. Listen to it in order of songs to understand the story. It’s more complicated than you think. Also see Wikipedia.
    Eyes of a stranger, is the best song of that album.
    Live evolution is a great live concert to see and hear.
    You can hear the singer also on the Avantasia album Ghostlights with the song: Seduction of decay.
    I can recommend Avantasia. Same concept as Ayreon. One guy composes all the music and songs and then invites other musicians to play or sing the songs for the album.
