Thank you very very much for this video. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner, I’ve just been letting my crops sit unharvested because I didn’t have any more room and I didn’t think about that. they’re just being wasted when I could’ve been selling them and making money. I like this optimal layout better than the one that I’ve been using so I’ll be switching to that.
this actually helps a lot, i always forget to water my crops and since i play for like 8 hours per day at least this would work quite well for me not having to run back to tend to my farm all the time
This is good for a starter farm. Once you hit level 10 farming, adding apples and blueberries makes an auto farm a little more difficult. I'm running a 9x9 with only 2 tomato plants that don't have water retention, an apple tree, and 2 blueberry bushes. The rest are set up for max water retention and weed prevention. It's not bad, but as you pointed out, there's going to be better auto farms as content gets added.
That layout seems to be more friendly user layout which is really good, im using one that involves rice and cotton and its good but a pain to manage since its all messy based on a layout i saw, im gonna give this one try and compare, also fertlizer i noticed that you could stack cause it would consume fert even when the floor already had it, but most likely a bug that is a way works well.
Excellent video!! I had a different optimal crop layout but I dooooo like this lazy way and might have to try it out hehe. And I had no idea how efficient the seed makers are!! I'm not slacking on those anymore!
Yeah, the seed makers are a game changer! yeah, the main benefit from this pattern is that is' the ULTIMATE lazy farming, so just free cash with little to no effort (as long as you keep stuff planted ofc!) Plus you can harvest fairly often too, giving you a nice consistent cashflow!
Im running a Farm in rotation, i do one veggie and then one fruits and rice and Wheat to that way i have enough fertilizers for everything while being able to cook anything without having to buy infinite glow worm and seed makers so i can focus all my profits on the House and furniture stuff.
Unfortunately, you have to be logged in 24/7 for this to work, or at least log in every hour to allow the crops to cycle to the next stage. If you are not logged into the game, you will only progress one crop growth cycle until you login again.
Yes, which currently is a bit annoying (I personally think it should keep ticking while you're offline, doesnt really make sense that it doesnt. Who knows maybe it's a bug that it currently doesn't!) But even so, as long as you're playing, atleast you won't have to think about your crops growing while you're busy with other things! Like hunting down more palium... 😬
@@blioodkira This is correct. The garden layout is indeed 100%maintenance free. So one could plant, go out and hunt, mine or talk to citizens for 5 hours and come back to a fully grown garden. Or 3 hours if you wish to harvest fast growing crops immediately.
@@ReallyQueenE Worth weeding till you get the weeding achievement though :) right now im 81 tomato plants for profit till i get my weedding achievment thaen going apple tree, onion, carrot and tatties build...the no work farm :)
Hear me out. Take all those crops, and turn them into seeds. The seeds sell for higher. Takes a little longer, but it's def worth it when it's double the value.
@@indikus. not really. you have to do the math. the seeds end up being worth more because you get multiple seeds from the crops. example. when you seed 1 potato, you get 4 seeds. when you pickle 1 potato, you get 1 pickled potato. 4 potato seeds is worth more than 1 pickled potato. you should only be pickling potatoes for food/focus. Pickling anything else isn't worth it. And it's definitely not better than seeds for selling.
Let's math it out with potatoes! TLDR: 5h 26 mins to make 16 potato seeds = 480 moneys. 5h to harvest ~37 poatoes (1/3 reg/3 star) ~ 2215 moneys. THE MATH: Potatos takes 5 hours growth time (5 palia days). In a similar time you can get 16 seeds. Specifically in 5h 36 mins you get 16 seeds (it takes 1h 24 mins per 4 seeds). Each seed (let's be generous and make them all star quality of course!) sells for 30 which gives you a total of 480 profit when selling those 16 seeds. So let's compare to if we plant, harvest and sell the crops instead with the 15 potatoes planted, where each plant gives you 2-3 crops when harvested. So let's try and split it down half, so say 7 gets 3 harvested and 8 gets 2 harvested, and in my case i get about 1/3rd regular quality and 2/3 star quality so that would make (7x3)+(8x2) = 21+16 = 37 total harvested potatoes. Then let's say 1/3, or 12, is regular and the rest, 25, is star quality (regular sells for 45 and star quality for 67) that makes a profit total of (12x45)+(25x67)=540+1675=2215 in less time than it takes to make 16 seeds worth 480 moneys. So your money/hour is way higher selling the crops even though *technically* the 4 seeds you get per potato sells for more as a stack than the single potato, simply due to the time investment needed to make it!
The math only applies when you can come back once every palian day since the crops don't progress beyond one day of growth when you're offline. So ultimately turning them into seeds will give more profit per hour assuming you work and sleep.
I don't think it makes a huge difference at that point, once you've got everything as star quality already! However, I always keep 10 HQ crops so I can make new seeds before I run out when i replant!
So then of those ones you planted once you harvest them all how many of them do you sell & how many do you put in the seed grower? This is my issue I dont know the ratio of it 😂 I keep my quality ones & sell the non quality ones.
So I tend to keep the low quality stuff for things like cooking and worm farms, and then I keep 10 or so of each high quality crops for seeds! (Usually a bit more for tomatoes for example since you need 2 tomatoes to get 2 seeds, so I try to keep maybe 20 tomatoes just in case i run out of seeds and forget to make them quick enough! (But they also last longer so you need less replants!) So tldr: keep at least 10 HQ crops for seeds, do whatever you want with everything else! :D
I usually save around 10 HQ crops of each type! (except tomatoes until you have a decent supply of seeds, because you only get 2 seeds per 2 tomatoes, so I usually keep between 16-20 HQ tomatoes just in case I forget to make seeds and run out!)
This is nice problem is you still need to visit your plot once a ingame day for it to progress and actually grow. It will not do so unless you are on the plot or visit the plot.
Great video ! Do you know if quality up fertilizers or crops like cottons are worth planting if you already have star quality seeds all over your farm ? Idk if it has any effect on an already star quality seed and couldn't find an answer anywhere..
I think so, It's hard to tell though, but it seems a higher quantity of the crops becomes high quality when you harvest, but very difficult to say how many in comparison to unfertilized/un-cottoned. I tend to do it because even a few extra HQ crops makes you so much more money when you sell them, so I want to get as close as possible to 100% HQ harvest!
Don´t use multiple stacks of fertlizer because they often bug and are deleted ... i tryed a couple times with 5-10 Fertilizer on every field and half of them where empty when i came back after some sleep. Also important .... the plants don´t grow when you are offline ... only the next cycle is completed after you logout.
I've only ever had enough to do 2 layers of fertilizer, and that's always worked (But I figured this MAY be a bug, so it's definitely a risk!) Hmm, that's odd, I've been able to be offline and come back to everything fully grown (even if there were more than 1 cycle left!), it is beta still after all, so may be some kinks to work out still. 😅
With 6 plots as long as you have them placed 3 above the other 3 (so in a 3x2 formation) you can follow the exact pattern of the 9 plots (laid out in the 3x3 pattern)! :D
@@ReallyQueenE I have nine plots but two have apples so that’s why I asked about the having 6 plots 🥰 that way I can do both until the apple trees disappear 🥰
You buy them from Badruu! Each one gets more expensive after buying it though, so at the start mixing in some fishing or hunting while your farm grows for extra money will make you get them pretty fast!
After you harvest enough times, they go fallow, I just accidentally timed the entire field to go fallow at once 😂 wish I could say it was some genius planning, but alas, just luck!
@@ReallyQueenE I was hoping there was some trick to be used as there are times I would love to reset the farm without letting it go fallow on its own and losing days of non use.

Sorry but its not even near to esiest or best money maker way. Esiest is simple tomato only than convert tomato (34g star quality) in to seeds (60g star quality) and its much more than 20k per day(up to 60k for nolifer). Lazy method its to use potato between tomato to water it. Ofc there will be problems with quests that require from you to have other crops but most of them you can buy.
But see, that requires effort like watering (unless you mix with potatoes) and weeding since crops doesn't grow if they have weeds. I want to be able to set it and forget it with 0 effort after I've planted. 😂
Wouldn't you be better off by switching your tomatoes & potatoes in this layout to maximize tomatoes? Instead of PTPTPTPTP, go TPTPTPTPT. Every tomato you can put through the seed maker before selling will almost double your profits too.
You only plant it and water it once, then you can forget about it until it's harvest time! In comparison to having to run back every hour to water and weed everything which, if you miss it, you will miss out on a growth cycle
Keep in mind that the farm will only tick ONE time while offline. So you have to be in game for this to work anyways and the time it takes to learn the pattern, maintain the seeds etc.. makes the tomato farm infinitely better. Yes you have to weed and water but I guarantee that is quicker and easier than replanting crops every x days. IF the game actually worked offline then these would be amazing but it's just not worth the effort. If you focus on just tomatoes you can have 3 or 4 seed makers and a couple picklers going and make more money with less effort/thinking.
