@@calinr1686 Well, as always „it depends“. I feel, when I used to surf, and that’s over more than 15 years now, there was already much more “localism” than in mtb nowadays, even with the growing number of riders. The thing is, the trail stays the same and everybody can use it. When somebody is faster, you just let him/her pass. good waves might be scarce, and in the end there might be space for one surfer and there will always be a more experienced one than you... Nevertheless it’s a great sport, so go try it out.

Today i did my first mtb trail on a cyclocross bike. Im used to road cycling and allready felt so much more positivity radiating from other mtbers who are having just way more fun. Loved it!
Well.when you get back with a broken arm and broken legs maybe not so great. Or something what happened to me: rode 500 meters, over a piece if wood. And well it fucked my derailleur hanger 😂
My man. More people need to know these unsaid rules. My buddy and I were riding one time and he just left me way behind in his 7k bike and his strava app running. Like dude... I didn't know you wanted to break records today. Wtf. I just wanted to ride and practice a few jumps.
I think Blake would agree just simply thinking of the other people out there on the trails whether or not in our group. The experts were struggling beginners at one time and we are all a work in progress. Being nice and helpful to folks doesn't make one weak. Thanks, Blake!
My biggest pet peeve on the trail is when you have a group of people and you give a heads up and say rider, and they freeze like a deer in headlights and stay in the middle of the trail.lol So easy to just move to the side! lol Most people that hike a lot know this already and know the trails that are frequented by mountain bikers.

@@Zimblake all good! I love you’re videos! Keep being awesome. Ps sorry for the delay I was all.... Blake Samson, gmbn presenter, responded to my comment?!? 🤯
@gmbn Stopping in the middle of a trail and leaving your bikes on the trail and/or standing on the trail. If you’re stopped stand off the side of the trail.
Ive read from more than one mechanic that the worst bikes were the ones that were never cleaned or washed. But the second worst were the ones that were washed too often and too aggressively, driving out lubes and driving in grit. Wash the exterior lightly, with a gentle hose squirt, NOT a high pressure stream. And toss on some water dispersant when you're done. I make my own with 91% alcohol and mineral oil. Basically a less toxic WD40.
Call out to riders from a decent distance that you’d like to pass. It sucks when someone rides up onto your back wheel before announcing that they want to pass.
just general good thinking is to know the trails or look at a map, you need to know where you are going, also pay attention to the direction of the trail
I pleased to say that I have generally found MTBer's and XC riders to be a pretty friendly bunch on the trails. If you're stopped to catch your breath, you usually get asked if you need help. If they want to pass, I usually hear "On your left, when you get a chance". I was a road rider for the majority of the cycling thus far, and Iwhile I have met some great people, I've run into a lot more negativity and elitism there. As trail riders, we are considered the Hillbillies of cycling community and I'm good with that if it means chill people who want to share a beer after a ride as opposed to a banana and a bottled water.
My golden one is help each other out, no matter the skill or discipline. One day you might need help from the Good Roadie or might meet a dude who is willing to be your MTB Yoda. Pass it forward. I love fixing bikes and teaching kids how to maintain their kit. It's an uplifting feeling knowing the future of the sport is being nurtured and helped by is old farts. As for the slow guys, I'd rather a slow run which ends with both of us reaching the end than to see someone panic and scramble out the way. Hell, I've been that slow guy and the absolute legend behind me gave me cornering advice after the run.
If it looks like I'm going to catch up to someone I tend to pull over and wait a few minutes. I also do the same if I get to the trail the same time as other riders. The only time I try to pass is at a bike park.
If you stop for a chat/waiting for a friend/mechanical issue - do it on the side of the trail, no need to block other riders...Love the black Ninja / Mugger running Blake suite :)
I need to definitely look after my bike more, especially in the winter, I do tend to leave it muddy for a few days before washing. Probably shouldn't admit that 😂
Bad habit number 6.1: Going to the trails on your car. Get a backpack and/or find a good hideout and/or make a storage house with your friends at your local shredding spot. That way you can leave the backpack at the site and enjoy some good descents. Make sure to build your legs on the ride up.
Oh for sure I prepare for weather conditions and other stuff and thats my best and worst enemy, if something doesnt go as plan I get a bit mad but after 5 min everything is right😂
No lie. I got lazy as FUCK during covid. I’m sure we all have. BUT I need to get back into the habit of how it used to be just a tad bit better.... Just installed a bomber z1 & cr coil on my remedy 8 to start. Gonna take a crap and I’m out on the trail in 30.
What do you think about bike washing when you live in California where it’s just all dust, a lot of my friends wash their bike after literally a spec of dust gets on where I will just clean my drive train and wipe down little bits until and wash my bike fully when it’s about time, my friend washes his bike so much and always makes it look brandnew, but he was taking his fork of and a puddle of water came out of the head set, do you think in California over washing could be a problem ?
Blake acting "negative" was hilarious. He seems like such a generally upbeat guy.
Still waiting for his Oscar
it's hard for Blake to seem negative on camera
Blake seems so nice he can’t even pretend to be negative 😂
