Very cool on the Shohei card! When I used to collect Chuck Knoblauch cards I would try to find cards numbered 11 of whatever the run was. Always fun to search for that type of item.

Mutumbos card prices will go back down. I sell cards for a living, every time someone dies we sell a bunch of that player because we dont raise our prices, then a week later the sales die down and prices are back to normal.

Congrats on 10k! Well earned. There isn't any logic or reason to much anything in this hobby. Other day at Walmart , I saw a Chrome Mega box for $70. I laughed out loud. Meanwhile, yesterday at a card shop, I bought a 1971 Topps Super Hank Aaron in near mint condition for $25. It's a large thick card and I love the look of it. I'm focused on singles now more than ever. I used to buy wax but it offers no value anymore at the insane cost. Thanks for sharing. Was hoping the Royals can pull off the upset but not looking good.

A very small percentage of collectors consume TH-cam content, especially the long-form content (as opposed to Shorts).
I wonder if the Menedez Brothers are bidding on that Griffey Ticket as an Alibi.. lol I'm totally kidding, but it's in the timeframe.

That 2021 Shohei Through the Years card has “RP” in the title on eBay. People need to know what “RP” means. It would save them a lot of trouble and money.
The FedEx cards missing from package story was reported a couple days ago by Neo. It was a shipment to Luka Doncic valued between $150k to $250k. Cards were missing from the package that was re-taped over the original seal on the package. Included some very high end Beckett slabbed cards of Shohei. This is a huge story. Looks to me as an inside job by a FedEx employee or 3rd party worker.

1) To me, the better question is why an Ohtani non-rookie, non-auto card #/50 sells for $350.00. At least I can see the novelty of 50/50 making it somewhat a 1 of 1 and why 59 bids were made on it. Now, if he can get the 1/50 and 17/50 he would have a trifecta.
2) Pete Rose auto redemptions. Could there be pages of sticker autos lying around somewhere?
3) FedEx lost or stole? Not sure why you'd mail/ship $150,000 in one load in any instance by any carrier. Insurance maybe? Me? I'm driving/flying them there myself.
4) Lowball? I don't know why that's even a term. The seller has options, so weigh them. No one is twisting anyone's arm. Caveat venditor. What about the converse? Would we be praising GW if the card had sold for let's say $15K? Agree somewhat with GW on fees, etc. but wouldn't walking into a bank to deposit $25k throw up some red flags? Not that I'd ever know, lol.

I have seen advertisements on X for people to learn to be breakers. This is something that needs to be discussed IMO. The margin is small for breakers. I suspect that small margin can be supplemented by selling info about how to be breakers. But these will most likely be dead end careers. People need to be careful for what they sign up for - especially if residuals are involved. And you can bet the shady breakers will have high prices and residuals will most likely be involved.
I think margins are good for the bigger, more established breakers. But getting in now has to be difficult.
Fedex stole them if the box was delivered empty. Package thieves dont open boxes and take the contents, they just take the whole box.

I understand there are a 'million' breaks but I don't think the breakers actually expect to hit a rare rare valuable card.. they're odds are against them, so yes.. they should send that card to the owner. Just as Backyard Breaks did with the TLaw Gold Kaboom.. What do you expect? Of course you have the chance of hitting that card. They're people with no integrity and yet people still break with them. It makes no sense. Once you 'dip' from a card like that, you shouldn't be allowed to break again.. under any other name. Breakers make way too much money for very little work because they take advantage of gamblers.. I watch breaks a bit and it's a big Loss 99% of the time; some break even.
I agree there should be a way to ban them from breaking anywhere ever again
Interesting comment on the ‘69 Aaron PSA 10. I think the majority of the hobby would agree that PSA’s standards have tightened over the years, but should an older slab like that ‘69 Aaron in the video command a lower price than a newly graded PSA 10 slab? Does the market reflect that when comparing sales? Curious if anyone has done an analysis.

It should be a lower price than a newer graded one. If graded today, it would not grade a 10 just due to the centering alone.
Ya on the stolen cards, if I had something like that and was selling or just shipping it I'm not to sure I'd mail it with anyone. Does Fed Ex cover with their insurance values up to $150K? I'm thinking they don't but could be wrong on that. If so what would that insurance cost you? $200/300 or more to ship those cards insured. Id fly or drive those things to their destination. I'm not feeling strongly about mailing $150K of anything by any mail service out there and if I sold them for $150K I can take a trip with them. Ha

Why would bowman/topps have pete rose as a redemption? Its not like it was hard to get him to sign stuff, thats what he did for a living. Seems stupid and costly for them to do it that way.

I dont feel like its the buyers responsibility to point out the damage on the purdy, as long as they have high res scans of it up. Its clearly labeled as authentic, not as mint, so you shouldnt expect it to be anything other than authentic. And if you are buying a card that is selling for thousands of dollars it is your responsibility to actually look at the card before putting in a bid. Same goes for the through the years cards. Stupid people should not be protected.
Cant tell if the gretzky is fake, but the fact that the rest of the collection is not also 1980 opc (or other big cards) is a big red flag.

I can tell, it`s 100% a fake. I`ve had hundreds of fakes/reprints over the years. I used to buy them in 100ct lots for between 0.60-1.00 USD each. The paper quality is different, the whiteness of the paper on the back is lighter than real ones. This is a newer fake, as older fakes from decades ago looked different than the one in this video.

@@JunkWaxHero Why not? I sold them on Ebay as fakes, clearly labled as such in the actual title(not in the descriptor box, where some may miss that info). I never sold one without labeling it as a fake. This was several years ago.

This whole Geoff Wilson drama gets old pretty quickly. Videos being made - not specifically this one - but videos with responses and the back and forth. It just reminds me of the old WCW vs NWO days in pro wrestling. It's a back and forth from both sides with little substance. But how does it look for the 'hobby' when there are already suspicions about the integrity of card companies and auctions, but yet one of the biggest names in auction houses writes he usually just text messages specific sellers to discuss things, except for this time. Because he's upset. So no text messages for Geoff, this time. How does that look to potential bidders? Inside connections, suspicions of cheating, etc. etc. Stories like this just fuel the fire.
I'm going to be honest, but those guys stealing from the company .... why are they going out and selling them immediately? It puts the cards on everyone's radar. Pocket that into a crazy collection, sell when you retire. They are truly stupid card thieves.

Shouldn't be doing it in the first place. These companies need to learn what manufacturers of money and precious metals do with employees to prevent theft and implement that. That and redemptions need to be 100% fulfilled or done away with. I have a huge stack of 2022 panini baseball redemptions that there was no way in hell that panini knew they would be able to fulfill since the following year they would lose their MLBPA license. I didn't bother to scratch them since I would never get the cards of that player. 🤬

Great way to start off my Sunday mornings. Congrats on 10K subscribers. Kind of cool to have the 50/50 version of Ohtani gold, but I would not pay extra for that.
Most thieves are stupid in this hobby with the guy from Upper Deck and the guys at the hotel.
Some people will leave the hobby, but most won’t because they have too much invested now in modern low number cards. The gambling aspect will keep people in this as gambling is a popular pastime in this nation. I was born a collector and will likely die a collector, so will be around for a while.

Those 'bounty wars' are getting really pathetic, and old. It's essentially becoming a p***ing content between Geoff and Ken. Let's face it, Ken has got FAR deeper pockets - and if he didn't, then far more people on his 'rolodex' with even bigger pockets than he has; it isn't really a fair contest. In any case, I'm ambivalent towards both of the gentlemen, and find the whole thing very pathetic.
Geoff trying to defend his cash offer is ridiculous. Just acknowledge when you're beat, tip your hat to your foe, and be happy that the customer who took a risk by taking the item to auction, got a better deal by doing so. 👍
