Thank you so much! I'm a designer who usually works with Amazon and paperbacks for romance authors and I got a client who wanted a children's book in the same size as yours and he wanted to use Ingram Spark. I was so grateful when I found your video because my deadline is looming and I just got the final page count from the formatter. A huge thank you to your for taking the time to do this video. Also, I have used Photoshop and InDesign, I just really prefer Canva because of how user friendly it is. So this was perfect for me.
Your demonstration on how to create a book cover using Canva and the template provided by Ingram Spark was so helpful. I couldn't believe how easy it was after your demo. Thank you!
You just helped me in the MOST tremendous way!! The Ingram Spark Platform has been interesting to learn to use, but I am grateful you shared this specific video with their template. KUDOS EMMA!!
May God reward you, Emma!!! As so many have posted, your video has brought me tremendous peace. So thorough and concise. I pray for many blessings on you and your endeavors 🙏🙏🙏😇👍 Cheers from San Diego, California! 🍻😘
I did it the exact same way, but came to youtube to see if this got accepted. I'm glad to hear it did. There are a bit fussy with how you name the files though, so I have to check this again as I don't remember if ISBN number is enough as a file name or if I need sth else in the name.
Thank you so much! So helpful!!! I could not figure out what to do about the white space on the page or trying to do the math dimensions for the blue and pink areas...this method was SOO much easier! Perfect!
Hi Emma, your videos are so incredibly helpful, thank you for making them. I noticed you made a video on BookVault printing recently, any chance you could possibly make a similar video on formating a hardcover for BookVault printing using Canva for both Cover and Interior file? I'm trying to work it out, but for the life of me it doesn't seem to look right in the BookVault preview.
You can. I didn’t do that with Canva because you can’t set up facing pages and I wanted to line up the illustrations. I used Mac pages at the time. Now I use indesign for the cover and interior. If you use Canva make sure to export as CMYK for print.
I'm having an issue. Once I upload the template to Canva and then go to upload my cover, the template goes away. Like it only allows me to upload one or the other.
This was so helpful! Quick question, when you upload your finished cover to IngramSpark, do you leave all the white space/measurements in the upload and Ingram will know to remove them, or should I just be uploading the cover that was in the pink/blue space?
Hi Emma, great video! I previously published a softcover of my children's book on KDP. I wanted to do a hardcover version so I went to Ingramspark. I uploaded the interior content pdf that I had for KDP. It is a 8.5 x 8.5. I uploaded my same cover that I used for KDP before I looked into it, Foolish on my part so I am already anticipating the cover getting rejected. My book is 28 pages and 8.5x8.5 so what would my dimensions be in inches for my cover? For my KDP softcover it was 17.30 x 8.75 inches.
Thanks Emma! Publishing too has pre-set trim sizes. If i were to upload an entire book (pdf) made wt canva with custom trim size, is that allowed by Ingramspark? TIA
Hi Emma, is it right to say that the number of pages in a hardback is 8 more than a paperback? i.e. 4 end pages on either side in addition to the interiors.
Thank you, Emma, for your helpful video! Just a question, when opting for doing "the math" to calculate the exact dimensions (Width&Height), what would be the list of items to add, I mean, the equation? Thanks!
@@EmmaRosenBooks Would you use the "wrap" cover of your paperback in the Hardcover Case Laminate if your design looks better that way? Thanks. BTW I also love Canva.
Do you know, do we absolutely have to use their barcode from the template? I have one generated already. And does it have to be that exact size? Thanks for your help!
Hi Emma, please your help!!! I have a book entirely designed in Canva, I mean the whole interior... can I export that to PDF and upload that file into IngramSpark? Do you have a video doing that?
i've made the hardcover with canva and downloaded it, but when i go to KDP to upload the hardcover-the PDF file isn't where my downloads are. it appears to be in my downloads, but what KDP pulls up is another place of downloads. i don't know if this makes sense, but it's like there are 2 download places for my computer. KDP will pull up downloads from some other download location, while the download canva hardcover is in another place for download. it makes no sense to me. can you help?
Double check that it downloaded - I sometimes forget to press the second button so it doesn't actually download. Or try doing a search across you hard drive for the file.
It depends if you want to see the edge of the picture or not - if you don't take it past the bleed line there is a risk that if they don't cut it straight you will see whatever is beyond it (so a white line for example(
thanks for this, ingram is confusing as heck!! did you create the illustrations yourself for the interior and cover? or did you hire somebody? if so, where did you hire from?
Hey Emma another great video! I wanted to ask, I’ve been using Canva but I noticed it dulled down the colors of the original pictures. Have you experienced this? Thanks again for the very informative video!
Were your illustrations done as CMYK or RGB? RGB can be printed out, but they will look fine and bright on screen and different, less bright when printed. Maybe that's the problem.
@@everynewdayisablessing8509 Hey Anna, I'm actually having that problem. I downloaded high quality print in Canva and uploaded to ingram, but received error message that my DPI was too low. So I used a free software online to increase the Dbi to 300 and now receiving an error message that it's too high. At different times I converted the files to RGB and CMYK and I still get that the images are too high resolution. any advice?
Hi Emma Rosen, I created a design of cover in Indesign but when I export it in the PDF it will give me a PDF file with undesired things like side dimensions etc

It might be setting it as.background. Click on the three dots and see if you can detach it .
Thanks for this! Was very helpful. Is there a way to sell hardcover books on amazon without opening a sellers store?
They now have an option for books of around 75 pages on Amazon
thank you soooo much for this! do you have to put the name of the book on the spine?
It depends on how thick the spine is. Check with Ingram spark

Doesn’t have to be. Also depends on the company printing it.
Thanks.
Thank you, Emma, for your helpful video! Just a question, when opting for doing "the math" to calculate the exact dimensions (Width&Height), what would be the list of items to add, I mean, the equation? Thanks!
You need 3mm bleed margins on each outside edge and use the Ingram tool to figure out the spine width. Their file creation guide is very good

No, you include it in your formatting. You can use their cover template generator and cut out the barcode.
