After watching several videos it is obvious that Ormonde has gone to spy school. He trots out like any other King’s Guard Horse, ears up all alert, a beauty. As he gets to his box his legs splay out, ears are out to the side or flat back giving him the look of a bum down on his luck. He then awkwardly in disguise waits for his next victim.
I just love Ormonde, his ninja strike attacks. He doesn't bite everyone, he selects his victims. Arnie is funny too. I honestly think that it's great to be able to take photos of the King's Guards and trooper horses, but all the pawing of the horses is too much, no wonder they have meltdowns. Respect the Troopers and their mounts.
I now this is old but I miss seeing him. I'm pretty new. But at least they show him being so sweet kind and sweet. We do miss him. I can't see him doing anything wrong.😢❤❤

Hello, I have fallen in love with the Kings Guards ❤, I have only followed them for about 6 months but I’m absolutely fascinated by them, I think they’re amazing. I took a trip to London ( I live in Cornwall) to see them but the horses weren’t there 😢I was so disappointed but then I saw the Guards inside the gates who stand still so that certainly made my trip worthwhile 😊. I have only come across your Channel today so have now subscribed to it. Thank you so much ! 😊

Yes, you were featured prominently in Buska’s thumbnail - complete with jaunty hat. And had a starring role - along with Peter and his other half - in the video. Couldn’t catch what ex-trooper Ellis was saying but then I suspect we weren’t supposed to. But good to see him again. I suspect that “slow steady walk” is more a concerted effort not let let those wings trip him up. They are fine for protecting their purpose of protecting the knees from sword slashes when mounted but trying to walk in them must be a nightmare. The polo mint provider is a regular so the troopers must know him. He often gives the horses a little minty treat - but he always asks first.
Maybe the level of respect regarding the approach of the horses is the result of folks watching the videos of what could happen if they do. Just maybe.
@@simonwallis1787 the hours that go into the spit & polish is unmistakable- but those jack boots with the wings and triple soles can't be the easiest foorwear to walk in. Taking care not to ruin their hours of work is obviously a consideration - but avoiding getting tangled in the wings is another. They may be more "comfortable" than they used to be with modern stiffener material used rather than mail being sewn in which they used to use but they must prevent a normal gait.
@simonwallis1787 I watched a video last year where, after dismount in the yard back at Hyde Park barracks, some of the guards walked on their heels to avoid cracking the polish..

Strangely enough I too was thinking of Peter this morning when one of his clips came up on my home page,and I was wondering how he was doing.He was another trooper you could recognise by his walk,it was so laid back.😊 I know other guards do some kind things,but oddly it doesn’t seem the same.Nice to see him though.

Sounds as if he hasn't had the best transition back into civvie life but hope that things look up for him. Can't say I like the moustache but perhaps it will improve as it "fills out". I got tickled at the new gatesman. He did his own thing, but it worked out alright. Lol! I don't think he knows what to do, I saw a female trooper over there talking to him. Maybe she was explaining a couple of things. He seems laid back & pleasant tho. Good seeing Peter, it's weird not seeing him in uniform.

Did the new Gatesman actually march back and forth in the arches at any time? To me It seems that the guards are ok to do what they feel comfortable with. Beards! Love 'em! I insisted my hubby kept his when we got married nearly 33 years ago (38 years total adding the time we lived together). He shaved it off but kept the 'tache a few years back as he didn't like the grey hairs appearing. I know in the Navy a sailor can grow a 'tache and beard with permission, which is referred to as a 'full set'. With the troopers, I do wonder though if a beard could be uncomfortable with the helmet chin strap? Good you got to chat with the retired trooper but sad he's having some hassles and I hope all will be ok for him. Congrats on the 1,500 videos and I also hope the numbers of subscriptions will go up as well.

Lovely to hear from Peter and his partner..... and a pity that another youtuber videod you and them the entire time you were chatting, and then Peter and his partner walking away, and posted it earlier today, so I had been waiting to hear the full exchange with Peter. Sounds as if he hasn't had the best transition back into civvie life but hope that things look up for him. Can't say I like the moustache but perhaps it will improve as it "fills out".

I got tickled at the new gatesman. He did his own thing, but it worked out alright. Lol! I don't think he knows what to do, I saw a female trooper over there talking to him. Maybe she was explaining a couple of things. He seems laid back & pleasant tho. Good seeing Peter, it's weird not seeing him in uniform.

Did the new Gatesman actually march back and forth in the arches at any time? To me It seems that the guards are ok to do what they feel comfortable with. The slow walk must be for comfort (new boots) and not kissing the ground should the spurs lock. Btw what is the name you gave him ??

LOL Knew it was Ormonde just by him kicking out as he came out from the stables, making his displeasure clear though I'm not sure if was directed towards the other horse or just the thought of going back out into the box with all the tourists in front. 😉

Beards! Love 'em! I insisted my hubby kept his when we got married nearly 33 years ago (38 years total adding the time we lived together). He shaved it off but kept the 'tache a few years back as he didn't like the grey hairs appearing. I know in the Navy a sailor can grow a 'tache and beard with permission, which is referred to as a 'full set'. With the troopers, I do wonder though if a beard could be uncomfortable with the helmet chin strap? Good you got to chat with the retired trooper but sad he's having some hassles and I hope all will be ok for him. Congrats on the 1,500 videos and I also hope the numbers of subscriptions will go up as well.
