THAT was a precious gift for me, as an onlooker. Yes, the guard was as tickled as the horse to see that particular young man! It is common for a horse to show love this way. Great fun to see!

I bet these officers explain this 100 times a day. It's so bad that you have to keep telling every idiot not to put his stupid fingers on the King's Guard horse. You can tell that the guards don't regard the mounts as just part of their job. I imagine there is an unbreakable bond between themselves and the horses that lasts the rest of their lives.
I don’t like that the horses have to wear a bit- it looks seriously uncomfortable! Maybe they can be trained without them. I do believe that they share the job with their humans and like the pictures and interactions with the public. 🇦🇺❤️

So true. I live in Germany and my parents moved back to the UK years ago. My horse hadn't seen my mum at least for 6 years, but as soon as he saw her he came galloping over screaming all excited and he smelt her, rubbing his head over her and you could see the excitement and love of seeing her again. My mum isn't a horsey person but she loves my horse to bits. He's now 28 and I've had him 23 years. ❤

How sweet..horses love people that are good to them...I am a US Navy vet and the only encounter I have had with the Queens Guard was to introduce myself as a US Navy Lt and salute the men and the rub the horses muzzle...All the guards recognised me in some way but one returned my salute..in American style...I was on my own and have no picture of that but it lives in my heart...I feel for these soldiers enduring the crap tourists give them..I do not have the tolerance for this work...
