Yes, I'm hoping to hike the Pennine Way but finding my way to the start and back from the finish isn't easy so I may hike a different trail. Good luck for the C2C.

Hi Paul, I’ve enjoyed watching your videos. My mum is planning to walk Coast to Coast on her own this spring ( end of April 2018). All of her accommodation has been already booked. What advice would you give her. Is there a chance of getting lost or take the wrong path? She will have maps and books with her. How likely is to meet other people walking the same route?
Sometimes the path splits in two and there isn't a sign telling you which way to go so if she has a map and compass (and knows how to use them) she should be fine. I had the route programmed into my GPS which did help from time to time. I did bump into people that were also doing the Coast to Coast but we were hiking at different speeds so it normally was a quick chat then we parted ways. As for advice I would say make sure she is used to walking the distance she is planning to walk each day, pack as light as possible and enjoy the views. If you have anymore questions just ask.
Hello there fabulous videos restrictions permitting I’m planning to do the C2C later in the summer if possible. Did you use the C2C packhorse? Did you stay near the packhorse the night before and if you have the name of the B&B/hotel you stayed would be most appreciative. Thanks
I didn't use Packhorse but I did use Sherpa to taxi me to the start and pick me up from the finish. I also didn't stay in any B&B/hotels, I carried a tent so stayed on campsites, pub gardens or wild camped.

Hi Paul planning this walk, would you say it’s vital to take a gps? I’m looking to get one possibly the garmin extrex 10. I’ve not used one before, so you can download the entire route onto the gps? What gps did you use? Thanks, Dave
Not vital if you are good with map and compass but it does make navigation a lot easier in the wind and rain. Its also peace of mind knowing that you can get the GPS out of your pocket and see exactly where you are and which way to go when there's a fork in the trail and no waymarker insight. My GPS is the Garmin eTrex 30 and it came with 1:50 OS maps of the UK. I don't think the eTrex 10 can have the OS maps on it but you should be able to download the route into it. Hi Paul, thanks so much for your videos, I've really enjoyed them all! If push came to shove, how many days do you think you could do the c2c in?...doing very early starts/late finishes,short breaks etc. I have a window of 7 days to do it in and I've seen one other video of 2 guys that walked it in 7 days. Any advice? Many thanks.
Hi Jeff, I think it all depends on your fitness level. To hike the C2C in 7 days means hiking an average of 27 miles a day and in some parts like the Lake District that means a lot of ups and downs. Also as you have seen in my videos finding places to camp are sparse in places and camping in the corner of a farmers field is definitely not recommended . If I was to hike the C2C again I think I would aim for 10 days with an average of 19 miles a day this would keep the longer days under 25 miles. Like I said before it all depends on your fitness level. Hope this helps.

Ken Hugaas I already had a gas canister so didn't need to buy one in St Bees. You could try ringing one of the shops in St Bees and asking them if they know where you could get one.

I'm looking to do as much wild camping as possible - ideally exclusively but although I asked several people who made videos about their journey no one replied or was willing to help. I was hoping to circle places in advance so I can plan my days accordingly. From what I can tell pub gardens cost money just as much as campsites (right?) so for that reason ( as well as looking for the wild camping experience I was hoping to avoid them. Hoping you'll be willing to assist. Thanks.
I really don't think trying to wild camp along the hole Coast to Coast is a good idea, remember wild camping isn't permitted outside of Scotland and Dartmoor. In the Lake District they seem to turn a blind eye to it so that's why I wild camped there also there's a lack of campsites there that are close to the trail. I can't remember how much I paid for each campsite/pub garden but the cheapest was £4pppn and I think up to around £12pppn. Hope this helps.

The coast to coast going through 3 national parks so that would be your best bet at wild camping just don't camp in any farmers fields which you will walk through a lot of. Outside of the national parks theres a lot of road walking and more farmland so I haven't a clue where you would wild camp. Sorry I can't help more.

Hi Paul great video can I just ask was it easy to navigate Ive heard people say the trail is not well signed how did you find it?
In places it isn't very well signed. Every trail I hike I always have my GPS with OS maps and the route preloaded.

@@DJOutdoors I downloaded the C2C route from the internet and yes when you turn the GPS on the C2C route was on top of the OS map.
