The railway museum used to be the police station when I was a child.I was born in the village in 1945 and lived down Seamill Lane in Blythe Place. The village has changed but still got the charm.Coming on holiday in March at the Caravan Park on the beach.Looking forward to icecream
I was also there 4 yrs ago with my cousin, aunt and girlfriend. She found herself a handful of nicely shaped rocks on the beach, she is obsessed with them.

Thank you so much for showing the St Bees school. I will attend there 22/23 for a year and I'm extremly exited!!!!! Totally looking forward to it. Great video:)
My first bottle of coke in that Cafe in 1953, Under the Cliff, used to be a Seawater Swimming Pool. 1956 told not to swim in the Sea!! Because the Factory had a Toxic discharge into the Sea.
Alreet Lad, has Cumbria changed its name to Cumberland? if your ever in St Bees folks the hotel on the front (Seacote) has a new Head Chef his name is Richard Cleaver, Richard was head chef and owner of Cleavers restaurant in Whitehaven opposite Civic Hall, Richard is an excellent Chef, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
You said St. Bees school was public, but that a student had to pay to attend. In the states, public schools are tuition free, but public colleges have a tuition. Could you say what the tuition per year is at St. Bees? Just curious in Florida.
In the U.K. a ‘public’ school is a fee paying school. Free schools are ‘state’ schools. Bizarre wording I know! According to their website fees at St Bees vary between £15k and £38k with some scholarships available.
Hello, Am visiting keswick this week. Would you recommend sea scale or st. bees beach? Which is better in terms of water quality and sand? And space Many thanks
As far as water quality and sand both are pretty much the same and both are pretty expansive as long as the tide is out. If the tide is in the sand at Seascale is nearer the shore. Both have a cafe and shop, Seascale has free parking whereas St Bees is a pay car park. Seascale will usually be quieter than St Bees. St Bees is kind of on the way to Seascale, just a short detour off the A595 past Whitehaven, and it’s about 20 mins between the two by car, so you could call in and have a look at StBees and if it’s not for you, carry on towards Seascale. 👍🏻
Oooooh famous gordo (fat) Jon Mellor -and his wife Wendy- is living for a lot of years ago at St Bees. He was drama teacher after teaching at St George’s College (Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina). We passed 2012 Christmas at St Bees and will go next july 2023 for a wedding
