Last time i was in amsterdam was a month ago, it was packed with people and tourists, Going again tonight, hopefully there are less people as last time i went on a friday
Two days in Amsterdam can generate enough memories for two lifetimes. I was stationed two hours away and went every other weekend and kept finding news things. Just gotta make friends with the locals!
Sean it was great to have you guys with us, love the video and great to see you enjoyed the chef’s menu, the food & love experience, view and relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely meet up again on your next visit to Amsterdam!
Just some tips for when you are on a budget but still want to eat something special. We have amazing Surninam food, another former colony. I love the "Ah Lung" (Yes there were also Chinese migrants in Surinam) Restaurant near the Albert Cuyp market, there are many good Surinam restaurants but chose to mention this one because its right next to the market in the video. Classic dish from Surinam is the Roti Kip (Chicken). This is a Hindustani dish (yes those were in Surinam too) with a large pancake, chicken , beans and potato in a delicous light curry sauce. This only costs 7,60 and its a huge meal. Many restaurants serve this and its almost always around this pricepoint. You have it with other meats too like Roti Lamb for example. Other cheap food is of course the Doner Kebab or Turkish pizza. There are many Turkish people in the city and of course they brought their food with them. A doner sandwich should cost about 4 euros and a Turkish pizza around 2. "Leeman Doner" in the Van Woustraat is a good one. They will fill you up real good for just a couple of euro's. Also dont forget the plain old supermarket. Want some of that great Dutch cheese? Sure, so do we, but we get it like normal people in the supermarket, like "Albert Heijn". Almost all supermarkets have a great variety from mild young cheese to flaverful old Gouda. And of course alot cheaper (and probably better quality) than a tourist shop.
For Surinames food and Kebab it's best to go to the Dappermarkt in Amsterdam oost. When you're there it's also only a short walk to brewery 't ij. But i'm Dutch so I just avoid the tourist centre of Amsterdam like the plague.
Did this trip in 1998 with my friends. Similar ages to you. Funnily enough, it would never even enter our heads to take photos to share, never mind broadcast it to the world, for potential profit. It was real, it was wild, it was never to be forgotten. Personal memories of times with REAL friends = REAL experiences. I weep for this generation.
This fun video will make you desperately want to visit Amsterdam. And if you've enjoyed this beautiful city before, you will want to jump back on a plane immediately.
Great overview of Amsterdam. I haven't visited Amsterdam since 1990. Looks like things have changed. Thank you for sharing and posting all the information that I will definitely use when I go there next year.
Well, Amsterdam is one of my favourite cities in the World because it is such a great city to live in, but, also, because it is such a great city of culture (I mean, the monuments built in the 17th, and 18th centuries, in particular, are nothing less than remarkable; in addition to that, as it was, kinda, pointed-out in this video, Amsterdam is home to some of the museums that have become renowned around the World/are of International Prestige, like Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt Museum, and/or Museum Van Gogh)!
Nice video, born and raised in Amsterdam and still live here. Just 1 question, why do you show the windmils of Zaanse Schans (they are in Zaandijk, about 20 minutes drive) and the harbour of Volendam (about 30 minutes drive) ? Amsterdam has it's own windmills and a huge harbour :) For the rest I enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing :)
@@huckster7294 uhm duh I know, I am born and raised in Amsterdam :) yet in this video (about Amsterdam) they show the windmils of Zaandijk, Zaandijk is about 15 kilometer north of Amsterdam... And Volendam isn't part of Amsterdam too...
Haring is not raw! It's been ... 'gekaakt' which is a process of fermentation in brine and the enzymes from the fish's pancreas, which is not removed until you buy it at the street stall. Not raw.
Well yeah by technical standards it's not completely raw.because it's been soused. But by most standards, it's pretty raw! And it's commonly referred to as raw herring.
"explored" Indonesia? Really??? That was a full invasion that brought down multiple separate dynasties. That lasted 250 years? I am confused by that conversation.
you are overdoing it with the montage . slow down . give us the chance and the time to understand and appreciate what we see. you just left me confused . keep it simple . you are ruining your hard work with extra hard work .
Every film crew and production company has a budget. We featured a variety of activities, restaurants and cafes for a variety of different budgets. Happy Travels!
I love going for a walk with my girl in Amsterdam when it's sunny and everyone is out. Not lately since they have the covid BS pass thing going on though. Fuck that shit.

Stationed in Camp New Amsterdam (that was closed years ago) or Volkel (in Uden)?

80% of the locals live outside the city, because hardly anybody can afford to live in the city
