Awesome video! Your explanations and examples of your successes and mistakes helped so much! Really helped me with what to expect and eased my anxieties about potty training. Awesome job mama!
This video was very helpful. Ive been potty training my son so wrong by just sitting him on the potty and waiting. I plan to start doing this method on Sunday and for the whole week. ❤
First day was soo hard. I let my son have screen time at nap time bc the sounds helps him sleep and before bed. But during potty training he would not stop crying. I tried activities from painting, sensory play, toys, coloring, singing to him, etc, you name it. He would start going pee, then stop when he realized it. I would guide him to the toilet and he would do the rest there. 😭 Idk if thats good or not. But i dis have to give him some screen time about only potty videos just to keep him calm and would pause it when he pees or poos
Very succinct and clear overview. Thank you for putting this together!! I've done this method for my first two and am training my third so this was a great refresher. Thanks again
Great video. Hope to see this earlier❤❤❤I made every mistake you mentioned, so i guess that is why on day 4 of block one my toddler still hasn't clicked.
I wished I would have watched this before starting. I’m on my second OC method try with my twins🥴. I’m going to try just pointing out the potty as we are currently in a stand off when it’s time to go.
I’m confused by the with or without prompting being able to pee on the potty goal. Today is day 1. Yes- she has used the potty with and without prompting but she also has peed on herself today too . Does every session have to be done in the potty to say she’s completed block 1 , or just occasionally- showing that she can?
I found that the commando stage helped a lot. They have been used to the feeling of wearing a diaper for 2+ years and underwear feels just too similar. But that’s just what worked for me!
We are day 6 of block 1. We actually had like 90+% of pew and poo in potty on day 2 so we went to block 2 on day 3. A bit of a disaster thought best to go back naked to solidify skills and have been naked since with maybe less than 50% in potty. His signs seem to be going away or that when he does show it’s like 2 seconds later pee. He’s 22 months.
It definitely has moments where it’s perfect but then we also had a bit of a relapse when my daughter realized this was the new normal and not a cool temporary thing. My advice is to keep going and don’t change your expectations. Remind him calmly where pee and poop goes and have him help clean it. There will be setbacks but I promise he will get back there!
How old is your baby here? Mine will be 18months in 2 weeks and I want to try to potty train but unsure if she will be able to communicate about it or understand what is happening
We have already introduced potty training to our 2 1/2 year old for a couple weeks but she would only go in the morning and sometimes make it to her potty during the day. She would realize she already went pee but still ask to pee in the potty so we figured she’s confused. This is where I decided to try this method and on day 1 it has been a complete success she went 10 times in the potty today, no prompting at all. I would just remind her occasionally and ask her where her potty was. She has a potty watch and when it would sing she would sit but never actually used the potty. All the times she went pee was on her own. That being said I’m a working mama and can’t take time off very often. Can I start her tomorrow with just some shorts on or do I give it another day. She seems to be ready and had zero accidents so I took this as a good sign.
We are starting the potty training process and day 1 went horribly. My daughter hated the feeling of urinating on herself and cried hard when she would sit on the potty. I don’t want this to be traumatic. I’m not sure what to do.
Deep breath. It's going to be okay. Recalibrate. Consider buying the book. I'm only here because we let someone else borrow our copy. Sit down, write out the goals/outcomes of this block. Find the path that fits your daughter best. COMMIT. We used this method for the first two kids and it went very well! ..... Very well in that the end result - potty training - was achieved. It was messy, like the book warns. But it was worth it.
The problem i am having is my daughter peeing every 2/5mins and getting upset over the mess 😭 she is also now resisting her potty because i took her too her potty every time she peed and as you can imagine it was every 5mins 🥲 she now wont sit on it eventually i stopped taking her just kept telling her where the potty is but every time i mentioned it she got upset 😭 also how do you stop your toddler from slipping and falling down after they have peed? I think thats what scared her the most 😭 i just cant manage to clean floors fast enough by the time i cleaned one spot she has peed somewhere else. I started putting anti slip socks on her but they get soaked very fast 🤦♀️
My toddler does little tiny dribbles that give us no time to get to the potty. We are still taking him to sit afterwards but it is like maybe a second. Sometimes he pees after and sometimes not. Any tips?
Do you have an area with tile where you could play there for the day? I have carpet in my house too and we just played in the kitchen for a few days. I made a point to break into some “messier” toys as something special while we did!
My kiddo, 22.5 months, is on day 4. On day 3 she really seemed to have it. Pee in the potty (mostly or close to the potty). All poop has made it in the potty. The poop is easier because she feels it for a long time and tries several times over an hour or so and eventually gets it all out. Pees she will say she has to go, sit and nothing comes out. She pees on the floor mostly. I can’t figure out what her sign is for pee. Poop she grabs her crotch. She might do that for pee too but it’s a long time before she actually pees. She know she needs to go. Do we move to block 2 or stay in block 1? She has been wearing clothes a bit yesterday and today. How do I help her get the pee in the potty?
When was she able to tell you “momma pee pee!!” My son did it twice!! But not often I’m still having to ask him or take him on a 15 min timer....we’re on day 3.
It definitely took a solid week or two before she was self-initiating. Once I knew how long she could go, I just would tell her, “It’s time to use the potty.” and prompt. Prompting is fine, as long as it isn’t over-prompting!
Are you doing bottomless potty training? Is she recognizing when she's peeing? We had to go through about three days of LOTS of accidents before it started to click!
@@rhiree6240 Do you have an area like a kitchen or bathroom where you can block off for a few days? I did keep Alice in the kitchen for most of the day for that exact reason. It's easier to clean tile!

This is a great video thanks.

Oh the Alexa applause was such a good idea!
It makes a huge difference and it makes Alice feel so special!
Thank you so much for this helpful video! Question: can I use the big girl potty (in our bathroom) instead of using a kid potty?
Thank you for this ❤

Great video. One question, commando vs big kid underwear. Is one method really better than the other or is it just a matter of preference?

Thank you so much! I have finished it, I just need to edit it! ☺️

Visual Countdown Timer!

At what age did you start with Alex?? My 19 month old have shown clues of wanting to wean from diapers, but I am not sure if she is ready.

I have not tackled sleep training yet. I’m waiting until she can make it through her nap and wake up dry!
