Another note: these whistle sound slightly different when properly adjusted for Reverb and Echo. Gives them a bit more clarify and definition rather than being a bit flat. Personally I use tsunami in all my locos but I’m looking to expand my decoder selection and compare them against tsunami when I have a fair bit of time with them (namely I’ll be testing and comparing Tsunami, TCS and ESU V5)
Just looked through your channel, and it seems someone already mentioned it (you need more subs). I don’t know your schedule but, keep on making videos.
Sadly the whistles I normally need are better on Wowsound. However, for heavy haulers and those who want to hear the bark Tsunami 2 is definitely the way to go as also the whistles typically found on them sound better on Tsunami. If wondering I mainly use Reading and Pennsy whistles and sound better on Wowsound, they also have a wider selection of the mentioned roads. Tsunami 2 has better UP (Hancock 3 chime) and the 1218 hooter. It boils down to preference and I tossed in my two cents even if it wasn’t asked for.
@@OvernightScaleModels I’m waiting for Wowsound V5. TCS said they are working on better smoke unit compatibility and adding more sounds. Hopefully a Tsunami 3 would add crisper sounds and smoke unit functions.
Thank you so much! I recently upgraded my Jupiter #60 with a Tsunami2 and I'm struggling to find the best matching whistle. I think value 16 K-27 matches the best. I'm still trying to sort the whistle, but it's hard to really pin point the best and closest sounding one.
Some more corrections: No. 37 & 38 sound more like Nathan 6 Chimes No. 48 is probably a Western Maryland 3 Chime Oh and the Westside lumber 6 chime is probably only a 3 chime.
You seriously deserve more subscribers, your work is really amazing and I'm sure a lot will find great help from this Decoder showcase.
Thanks for the kind words my friend! It really does keep me motivated
I'm about to install a Tsunami 2 in an Athearn Genesis and this video really helps!
Dude awesome video! Those whistles sound great. Thanks for posting!
That Westside Lumber Company 6 chime sounds more like a Central of Georgia 6 chime.
I say the Southern Pacific Step Top 6 chime sounds like the one 4501 had in the 80s

That's a great take on Wowsound vs. Tsunami 2. I agree with you. I'm sure both companies are only going to get better in the future.

any single chime will work (just not 1218 or n&w) in terms of accuracy
UP 844’s older whistle 4:54
Hmm, Interesting. I might try buying the decoder myself if i can find one.
Does it work for Broadway limited and MTH products?

I just followed the Soundtraxx Tsunami-2 Steam-2 Sound selection guide names. I am not sure to what prototype these truly are.
Im wondering about gerting that for my santa fe bli fleet i have but then again im not really wanting more projects.
13:52 is my favorite
How do you change the whistle on these decoders?
Change CV 120 to what ever number whistle you want.
Your models seem super well done! Would you ever consider doing commissions, some day?
Thank you! Maybe one day, maybe.
Where can I find this decoder?
Ebay is where you can find it most
41 it's the best

Actually No. 40 is actually an N&W-3 chime, not 5 chime.
You are correct! Thanks for catching my error
Also No. 14 and 15 are the South Simcoe Railway whistle, which is used as a stock train whistle sound effect in various media.
@@johncolston4758 No it’s not a South Simcoe Railway whistle.
number 39 is straight up the Polar Express' whistle from the movie XD
