15:00 And so, Mortal Kombat was born. For those who don't know, the creators originally wanted to make a fighting game featuring Van Damme (after their initial Ninja game pitch was rejected), so they digitized shots from Bloodsport and added their own background as a demo for Van Damme. JCVD turned it down, possibly due to a conflicting deal with SEGA that never happened, but Midway liked the pitch enough that they gave Boon and Tobias the okay to make the game anyway, which is why Johnny Cage ("JC") resembles JCVD from Bloodsport, down to the split crotch punch move and him being an actor. Throw in Cannon-style ninjas, a Cynthia Rothrock clone, a Bruce Lee clone, The Terminator (for Kano's eye), a Ray Harryhausen stop motion creature, and the characters "Lightning" and Lo Pan from "Big Trouble in Little China" and you have a classic.

This came out before Future War, so his character's lack of English language skills in that film were part of the story. By the way, Bernhardt is part of the stunt/production company who makes the John Wick films and he was in the first film as a Russian hitman. Bernhardt played Agent Johnson in the second Matrix film where he met Keanu and the two stuntmen who created John Wick and started the stunt/production company. He was a stunt coordinator and trainer on the film "Nobody" starring Bob Odenkirk, which was created by one of the John Wick creators and is part of that universe along with Atomic Blonde (Bernhardt played characters in all three).
He does a lot of work with the 87North guys. I believe he trained Bob Odenkirk for Nobody. Well, shit. Chad Stahelski's also in Bloodsport 2. The dude from Tiger Claws 2 is Ong Soo Han (not Bong Soo Han from Kentucky Fried Movie though).
I'm convinced that Bolo Yung wasn't born: he was sculpted from granite and brought to life so he could be the villain in numerous B-movies. xD And 'series gets progressively worse with each release' could be attributed to plenty of movies out there, but there are some outliers (like Terminator 2)...but the fact that JCVD dipped after the first one says a lot...but at least Daniel 'I am Tool' Bernhardt came in for the second one. OMG, only Dave could possibly use the Matrix and Columbine in the same sentence and make it HILARIOUS!!!!!! FRIGGIN LOVE THIS CHANNEL. I love how the TH-cam 100k award shows up while you're busting your butts working on your craft. KUDOS GUYS AWESOME ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!
I remember when you guys were at 99,000 subscribers. Some Frank Dux lore, he fought a 64 round single elimination tournament, which is basically would require more people then we have on earth to fight in.
3:05 kid with a Bartles and Jaymes t-shirt. Love the 80's!
I get to spend over a hr with my favorite channel.....good start to a Sunday.
11:39 “showin ass, you really nailed that.” Poor choice of words 😂😂
Love the first Bloodsport. You get Guile or Johnny Cage playing against Zangief on an arcade machine.
And the absolutely true exploits of Frank Dux.
That bloke dancing was hilarious. I kept just laughing at it all the way thru, and the bloke on a roof with a pole was also awesome 👍
Van Damme wasn't protecting the ref in the first one while fighting against Bolo. He was keeping him behind him so his footsteps wouldn't confuse him.
Congrats to you on breaking 100k!! It's been great seeing more & more people subscribe to your channel after all the "pain" you suffer for us :)
The guy that did the soundtrack for this is amazing.
Congratulations on 100,000! That’s a big accomplishment brother!! Jason, you’re not fooling anyone. When everyone goes to sleep you know you’re gonna look over that plaque again and you’re gonna drop a tear on it 😊😊😁👍
The bearded guy in the first Bloodsport I always thought for the longest time was Big John Studd, I mean it is fitting since he was also a beast.
First time I remember him from is from Revenge of the Nerds.
@@groothewanderer3710 3 movies Gibb was in but uncredited were: Stripes, Any Which Way You Can, and Conan the Barbarian. Most likely if you rewatch them you will catch him in there now too.
12:32 I was half expecting "Ogre" here to yell "NERDS!" at them after breaking the brick.
Daniel plays a the blonde haired Soviet agent who fights Charlize Theron at the apartment.
25:23 Dave fucking killed me with the Ron Artest reference 😂
I don't know how many of my friendships could survive a 4-Bloodsport marathon, there are limits
If we made it through Neil Breen, we can make it through Bloodsport.
1:32:00 it looks like it was filmed in an abandoned prison!!😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂
Guy from Bloodsport 2 was an Agent in The Matrix Reloaded. I've seen that movie dozens of times lol.
38:29 THE SQUIRREL MASTER!!!!!!!!
Daniel Bernhardt is awesome... still kicking ass at 58.
Congrats on 100K :) You've definitely earned it!
LOL love Jason's spectrum-ability to remember Z-List actors
I can't believe I sat through this whole thing. Lol... worth it...
Daniel Bernhardt was in the first John Wick. He's the guy that stabs him with the broken bottle and throws him from the second floor.
👍You beat me to it.
I'll have to check that out again.
He's in Matrix sequels, Birds of Prey as the guy who Harley broke the legs of, the bus scene in Nobody and Siro in Mortal Kombat C/Konquest
@@JoeChillton He's also in Atomic Blonde, the blonde Soviet agent who fights Charlize Theron.
OMG. I only just now noticed this. At 3:06, one of the kids cheering the fight is wearing a Bartles & Jaymes shirt! 🤣
They made 4 friggin Bloodsport movies? lol this should be interesting I only ever knew about the first one haha
@ 45:00 mark you called out the music. The lead character in that starred in Motal Kombat Conquest. It has the same music...
*This movie has the budget of a ham sandwich!* -Jason Brant, watching Bloodsport: The Dark Kumite
Great quote, I will remember that one.
🤣
21:40 Is when Dave runs out of beer.
I'm convinced that Bolo Yung wasn't born: he was sculpted from granite and brought to life so he could be the villain in numerous B-movies. xD
And 'series gets progressively worse with each release' could be attributed to plenty of movies out there, but there are some outliers (like Terminator 2)...but the fact that JCVD dipped after the first one says a lot...but at least Daniel 'I am Tool' Bernhardt came in for the second one. And he did a lot more ass kicking here than in Santa's Summer House.
P.S. Jason's face when Ron Hall shows up. xD
P.S.S. Congrats on 100K subs too! Onwards and upwards chaps and chappettes.
Never thought I'd see Ron Hall show up in a Bloodsport movie. Amazing!
@@JasonBrant Most surprising thing was Bloodsport 2 was lit well enough to actually see who it was. xD
James Hong is Chu from Blade Runner too 😊
I was someone offended that you were laughing at Bloodsport 1 but then realized I was laughing too.
I can't believe I was laughing calling it a vanity project biproxy and them 5mins later Dave says it 😂
Congratulations to Jason, Erin, and the gang! On to 250K......
Some dubbed the 11:06 mark into a Mentos commercial and it's amazing.
7am in Alaska, coffee and dabs ready to go, i cant do this, not til after work!!! But take my upvote anyways, I'll see you in about 9 hours!!!
Enjoy the day!
@intellectic9155 I don't. I'm in Alaska lots of people work up here. Just not like you. In an office. All day. Anyways I'm off to get high them sell a bike and enjoy the day while.tending my plants. And paintings. Because I can
That's what freedom is
@@intellectic9155 I doubt you even exist. You're just words on a screen to me. How do I know you're not a bot? And why would you say that in the first place? Are you just an asshole?
@@platzoperson393sadly, I work indoors, but I get paid well enough. Anchorage, here!
@@megatronjenkins2473 ah yes well.for winter the indoors is the best tbh lol
24:20 undefeated in 329 Matches...
Funny, in the original 1980 Black Belt Magazine article Frank Dux claims to have fought 329 matches with 7 draws and 1 loss. What happened to this one match he lost?
Although the interview for that article took place before the alleged 1980 version of the Kumite. So why does his fight record remain unchanged at 329 fights?
Frank, we need another BS excuse 😂
The actor who gets his leg broken by Chong Li is the same actor who played Tong Po in Kickboxer.
Oh, it’s way bigger than that. He’s one of JCVD’s childhood friends. They went to kickboxing class together.
His name is Mohammed Qisi. His older brother Abdel played Attila in Lionheart and the Mongolian fighter in The Quest.
1:22:49 "have attention, fuego canal!"
Is that what he said? What tf did i hear just now??!? 😄
Jason needs to enter the Kumite of height-guessing
the Kumite of remembering actor names and faces, but only b-tier or lower of course.
I'm the Frank Dux of height guessing.
@@JasonBrant "Fastest height guessing - .12 seconds"
"Most consecutive heights guessed in a single day - 56"
4 movies make it a Tetralogy (Tetra = four in Greek)
Good job on the 100K, those videos help fuel our local BBQ, drinks & SBiG sessions. Keep em coming!
Dave´s superpower - getting more intelligent the more he drinks 🍻
Jason´s superpower - guessing people´s height and remembering every sh*tty actor/actress 😄
Right?? I loved "vanity project by proxy." 😂
@@C.L.Hintonsame 😄 - a new medical term was invented right here ✅
I was going to suggest "third-person autoerotic autobiography", but vanity-by-proxy was better, I have to admit..
I wish I was good at something actually useful 🤣
@@JasonBrantOh I assure you: I envy your talent!
Lately I recognized Woody Harrrlson in a Star Wars movie: I suck this bad at recognizing people!
With that said, I love the first 2 Bloodsport movies!
I am so glad I could contribute to this (recent subscriber). I've been a bad movie aficionado for awhile, but my experience has been via MST3K and Rifftrax. I realize I've got so much to learn and see.
Welcome aboard!
I'm really enjoying these long-form marathons of bad movies. I'll easily be watching this madness multiple times.
Just about to watch. I figure this took 6 to 8 hours of watching. So im figuring theyll be blitzed by the end. This should b amazing!!
Fun fact: Daniel Berhardt was in the Mortal Kombat Conquest tv show back in the 90's. He was also recently in the 2021 movie, Nobody. I think he also played a villain in Matrix: Reloaded, an Agent. He also featured in John Wick.
So, Im sure someone in the 1275 comments has mentioned this but hell, I like movie trivia and you do too so just in case.
9:31 The guy that gets punched there... actually gets punched for real, you can actually see the connect to his chin happening. That same guy's name is Michel Qissi, a belgian-maroccan actor who was friends with van Damme and asked him for a small part, because he wanted to become an actor. He'd later be cast as Tong Po in Kickboxer 1, 2, and played a part in Lionheart. Incidentally, Qissi's brother Abdel also was cast in Lionheart as Attila, and he also was cast for a detective role in.... The Last Kumite.
Damn, i would've never guessed; they look so dissimilar, and yet, have kinda the same air? Is it the bald head, maybe? Idk, i just can't put my finger on it 🤔
Also, you're damn right, i do love trivia 😄
