    What an Amazing Adventure Especially with Family. A trip none of you will ever forget. Unfortunately, one of you got sick, but still made it to EBC, which is a Credit to her. Altitude and sea sickness are both Debilitating. Kathmandu looks like a fun city, with no care in the world. Thanks for sharing your Adventure. Take Care

    What were the drone rules while you were there?

    • @alexmb19
      @alexmb19 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tourists cannot get drone permits, meaning that they used it illegally Quite infuriating considering how heavily trafficked the route is by helicopters, especially low flying ones.

    • @jessandaaronjewett
      @jessandaaronjewett  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We didn't fly it in the restricted areas or in the Sagarmatha National Park. Our Guide was from a local village and showed us where we could/could not shoot drone footage. We were very careful to maintain safety and respect throughout our trek. :)

    Why did you go up via Tengboche when there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley? The Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail offers vastly better views high across the valley, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Tengboche can be visited on the way down.

      I was the "old man" in the video with Jess and Aaron. We went with a trekking company. You can see our sherpa guide and porters throughout the video. We went by their itinerary and adjusted for altitude sickness that Jess suffered in Lobuche. They were amazing. Even though our descent retraced our ascent, we thoroughly enjoyed both. We had a different perspective going up, then down. The views were amazing both ways. Maybe next time we can enjoy the trail on the opposite side of the valley.

      @@curtismiller6318 For some strange reason Nepalese guides and agencies ignore the more impressive Phortse route waking the clients up and down the same trail twice like there were no alternative. Several more innovative western operators have started using the Phortse route on the way up, and the clients just love it.

      We went with Elite Exped and trusted their expertise on trekking. We would love to go back and try alternate routes!

    EBC is a box-ticking exercise. You trek a few days along a path that used to be interesting/challenging... but now is so full of other tourists/sheep and every possible comfort is provided along the road. You know you've reached your destination when you see a rock with the words 'Everest Base Camp' sprayed on it. But this is merely the starting point for others and thus does not feel like a worthy goal. After that... you have to retrace your path, i.e the exact same scenery from the last few days just in reverse! ☹
    I'm recently back from the Manaslu circuit... significantly tougher, and far more remote, but far more worth it. 👍
