You're the best! I've spent the better part of a week trying to get this damn cover off. I didn't have a suction cup, but what I did have is a velcro strip that holds an ez-tag for a transponder on a window. Stuck it on, turned, viola! Instant success! Thanks!

Huge thanks. First AirTag was easy to open! The next 2 my gosh, couldn’t do it, tried to use a jar lid opener, which other people recommended. Found your video didn’t have a small suction cup, but I did have a larger one and that did the trick anyway. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Great idea using the small suction cup. However, I use the small "KONG" dog chew play tube (tube is made for treats and the dog tries to get them out). You place the large side of the KONG on the chrome side of the tag and press down and turn. It works great.

I still think your idea is brilliant but it did not work for me. I could not keep the suction cup from slipping. I finally got it apart with pliers and a vice. It seems like the metal back had stuck itself to the white part. I used WD40 to lubricate the parts and they did go back together and lock but I used my tools again to get sufficient grip to accomplish this. So the problem may not be weak hands--just poor ergonomic design on Apple's part.
