I have been studying IELTS lately & I found that this course is designed to test three things
1: Your analytical abilities more than your English (in listening)
2: Your confidence level & how quickly you react
    3: Check grammar & spellings
So, technically it is not an English test completely.

What you wrote is totally right. However, the skills that you enlisted are also compulsory regardless of your purpose for sitting IELTS exam. Lets say that you want IELTS certificate for immigration so you have to be able to interact with others in any case of emergency, or if you are lost you should be able to ask the directions confidently. On the other hand if you want pursue your education and give an IELTS exam so you have to be able to speak fluently and clearly without being nervous to your professors and you have to have analytic aptitudes as well for the efficiency of note-taking.But overall, yes it is not only based on linguistic skills rather on common knowledge as well.

@@Bug_Hunt I didn’t attend to any IELTS class before. TH-cam was the only place I went to study for the IELTS exam. Specially for the speaking exam I was very nervous I had no idea on the exam. I watched so man channels but this channel and this video helped me a lot to be honest. + I did IELTS computer based. I got overall 7.5 and 7.5 for speaking.

It seems that the most difficult part of all such exams is the necessity to speak immediately after receiving a card. Maybe for cultures which are accustomed to short-talks, it is like usual way of communicating in society, but for cultures where people try to give you the most sincere and fully comprehensive answers, such speed is quite tough. By example (as I see this), in Russia and post-soviet world people are more careful in speaking about friends. And when you receive the card, with question like "Tell about your friends, how often and via to what ways you communicate with them", you start to assess, do you have friends at all? And if you even have, why you do not speak with them much. Nevermind, I only wanted to mention, that plenty of standard questions can provoke existential crisis in soul of person, representing other culture) ask German or Russian "how are you", and they will discuss it with almost freud's reflection🗿

The best thing about watching this video is that I actually only studied in a formal English school until I obtained a Pre-Intermediary certificate. Nonetheless, I could understand basically everything about what they were talking to each other, and (whether it's not just me being pretentious) I could feel that I would have reached almost the same quality of responses, if it was me sitting on his chair. Even so, this is not what makes me fully satisfied. I will keep myself working on grammar, vocabulary, and fluency, then maybe I try and perform at least a band 7 or 8 in IELTS general training. I meant, my personal philosophy is: we must prepare ourselves for fighting a war so we can win a pillow fight in the end. Please, guys, wish me luck. Best regards, from Brazil. *** If I wrote something weird or wrong, please, be honest and tell me. We may never reach perfection, yet we can always try.
