I think this song was written in memory of her sister that passed away long ago at a young age and one of the other members who was also dealing with death helped with the lyrics. In the video she is the voice in the gentleman's head who is dealing with her death; you will notice that unlike the man, she never touches the ground in any of the scenes, as a spirit or ghost would. Also many don't notice this, but at one point her outstretched hand has a fly crawling over her bandaged hands. Truly a sad touching and emotional song. Thanks for appreciating it as well.
It’s so sad when you lose someone so dear to you😕 - thank you for explaining the reason this song was written. I’ll watch it again, to have better understanding per your explanation. Thanks for the compliment😊
Ben wrote the song. It was for/about his grandfather after he passed. The video is depicting a kiss of a different kind. The director wanted to show a woman who has taken her life( bandages around her wrist) and she is now tethered to the love she left behind, watching him grieve for her. It’s like her personal hell or purgatory. Neither can move on.
Amy Lee is a classically trained pianist with a wonderful voice. This song is about 20 years old now and Amy has since created an amazing body of work both solo and with other artists. Worth exploring her other music for sure, this song remains a true classic and like you said is timeless in its beauty and emotional impact.
Hi Franklyn, I'm very grateful that you made this reaction. As always your reactions are clean, polite, not too long and not too short. you understood the meaning of the song. Evanescence were very famous in the early 2000s, in particular, My Immortal and Bring me to Life (it was the soundtrack to the film Daredevil). As I had already written in another comment, they mainly make new metal music (My immortal is one of their ballads). In particular I find their live versions of the "Synthesys" wonderful and exciting, in which the bend plays accompanied by the orchestra and many of the songs are acoustic... don't get it wrong, I love metal, but her voice is so wonderful that sometimes it seems like a waste to cover it. P.S. sorry for my English.
