Emotional year for me. Federer's retirement began the end of an era. Nadal retired this year. I was a big admirer of Andy too. Really appreciate his consistency almost for a decade before he got injured. Even though he lived his career under the shadows of the Big 3. He is gone as well. Novak will be gone before the end of 2026. And tennis will never be the same again for me.😢😢😢
Thank you very much for recognizing that Guillermo Vilas was N1. He is currently suffering from Alzheimer's. It has been proven that he reached N1 twice, in 1975 and 1977. Let's hope that the ATP recognizes this during his lifetime. Greetings from Argentina
thanks the video, back to memories when i kid, i serving as ball boy when 7-10 years old. at 1990s at that time i always heard the people play at court discussing about named above, like andre aggasi, pete sampras etc, now i playing tennis at this age and feel good memories,
Dude, if you mention Michael Chang, you should also mention Goran Ivanisevic, he lost three times ! in the Wimbledon final, but kept believing and won Wimbledon in 2001 on a Wild Card!!!, about ten years later. - Same goes for Marat Safin, he had a relatively short career, but won two Grand slams and lots of other titles.
Damn that hurts to see...all of my legends from the 2000s and 2010 years are gone now...especially Roger and now also Rafa...cant deny that it hurts for real

Yannick Noah did not retired in 1996. He retired in 1991. After that, he came back for a few matches in 1995 and 1996 just for fun and not seriously, so he does not really count. For example, you wrote down that Borg officially retired in 1984. In his case, you did not take account of his comeback in 1991-1993. I agree with that. So, you must do the same think for Noah. Thank you in advance for your understanding. From Bruno Milon.
exactly Yannik Noah was already a commentator for the US Open 92 on French television. He was commenting on the Lendl Edberg Match 1/4 final of the 1992 US Open. It's on youtube...
Poor Kent Carlsson, a terrific clay player in his age, but unable to train and play effectively due an infinity series of injuries. For sure, the unluckiest player of all times
I see many players ended carier here in 27 28 only litle number play to 45 or 47 years old i think who is natural strong and in good shape can play to 50 years old
Not that tennis pros Cannot play professional level tennis in mid- late 30s & onwards. Just more exponential issues, less motivation, hungrier usually fitter players coming up who recover much easier & less injury risk. Pros who enjoy competing almost all year + still traveling after 10-20 years of the grind seem to be the exception, not the norm. It is just a job, as fun as it may look on tbe tv screen, I can only imagine how bothersome it is/ becomes... when you've hit thousands and thousands of fuzzy balls, been everywhere already, played hundreds of matches, have enough money. Time and health in life isn't guarenteed either. I know I'd retire at age 31 or 32 if I was ever in the top 10 and had 6 figs in my bank account 😂
It's very hard to retire with dignity. To know when to stop. If Nadal retired after his 2022 French open won, it would be amazing end of career. But he came back in 2024 and obviously it was a big mistake. I hope that Djokovic will retire with win at his last played match
Jajajajajajaja...
Everything that has a beginning has an ending. Only Sampras won a slam in his last real year playing, though he technically retired in 2003. Also Muster retired his main career in 1999. He made a comeback in 2011 in challengers, but if that counts as his retirement then Borg should be set to 1994 and Rios also played challengers in 2010s iirc
How did Rafter make to win US Open 98 and reach the Wimbledon Final in 2000 and 2001 if he "retired" in 1997? 😂
That's exactly what I had on my mind🤭
He was THAT good 😅.
@@AlexCequea I wanna be like him lol. Not even Borg was able to achieve such feat xD

Incredible how long Federer played at such a high level
The last 18 months of Nadals carrier he was broken down

Rafter won his first Grand Slam in 97. Were do you pull this data from?
My bad. He ended his career in 2001 at the age of 29.
