When did iPhones become so hard to use with iTunes? This is just pathetic how over the years simple tasks become impossible to do with newer technology.

You are a God Send! I have been trying to do this for months! It shouldn't be this hard! Thank you so much for solving this for me! I have spent good money on building my music collection over the pass 50 years, and some of the songs you can no longer find today! Thanks man! I had all the songs I wanted on my iPhone and after downgrading macOS Sonoma to macOS Ventura, which I had to erase my hard drive to do, I tried to transfer the songs to my Mac and somehow everything got deleted from my iPhone. Then it was trying to use iCloud which I didn't want. Fortunately I had a backup of my music library on another drive which was a few months old and not current but close enough. I'll have to find songs I missed and add them back. Thanks for your helpful video! 👍

Is there a way in the Apple Music app to be able to tell which albums you had uploaded to your phone and which albums came from Apple Music? As I could see it being tricky at keeping up with it. For example, if Apple Music has an album that is a terrible remaster. And so you upload a rip from a first release CD and upload that to Apple Music with album art. Would you be able to tell the difference between the two?

Thanks for doing all of the work. I'm the same way. I'll spend days trying to find a way to do something that *can't* be done. It's a real pain. I'm a lifelong Apple guy, and I do love them, but every time I run into this proprietary roadblock that throws up a paywall, I'm so tempted to get a Sony Xperia 1III.
But those green text message bubbles. Ghastly!
Thanks also for pointing out that downloading iTunes from the Microsoft store doesn't work. I found that out long ago, but it was a headache to figure it out. I even used Winamp again because of the trouble.
The only other thing I can say is I hope you ditch that white crew neck undershirt. It's pretty awful looking. Go with a deep v-neck if you must wear two shirts.

Agreed, the cover art situation is a mess, sometimes when adding a new CD to my iTunes I click “add cover art” to see how inaccurate it is just as a joke. P.S. I still use an iPod video that I modded with a 512gb ssd, the thing holds my whole music collection of 27000 + songs. So going into remote places like 35km into the woods where there is no cell service, the thing comes in very handy 😁.

Yep i have the same problem. The songs in my mac library, that weren't downloaded with cover art, doesn't shows up whenever i'm trying to sync them to my Iphone 12. I have a 2021, MacBook air, m1. I noticed that only the songs that have cover art, showed up, and was able to be synced to the iPhone. And i've got tons of songs, or complied mixtapes (mp3) that i wanted to transfer. But i'm not able to download them with cover art, because they are older songs. Most of the newer songs are downloaded with cover art. Plus i listen to the older school, like 90s and early 2000s. Why does Apple has to be such a pain in the ass? Something that should be so simple, is like a mountain to climb. I thought that if u were transferring from a Mac to an iPhone, it would have being easy as 1,2,3? But as it turns out, transferring music from a mac to an Android is easy. Apple is full of shite. I'm sorry, but i will be selling the iPhone 12, and go right back to Android. S21 or s22 should be just fine, no hassle.

I would like to be able to transfer home movies. I copied all of them (about 90 or so from 8mm tape) to my desktop about 15 years ago using .avi, but I’m not sure what codecs I used for video nor sound and I didn’t know the difference then. Some of them are 30 seconds to two or three minute clips, and having them available on my iPad would be great, not only to have them easily and readily available, but it would also, allow me to use iMovie or something simple just to combine files.
I really like your teaching style as someone has already said, and if you have had this requested already, then I do apologize. And I will go through your past videos and see, and if I find it, I’ll let you know. Thank you.

I have used this methode to transfer MP3 Audio book files. What you have to do is: Go to the album info and then select the tab options and there change the media type to audio books. The selection options are: Music, Podcasts, Audio book and spoken memo.

I've had three iPod devices and the easiest one to use for music and audio books was was of those tiny little things that only played music. I lost it and replaced it with a Zune, which was fine. My two iphones, however, were stupidly difficult to use as mp3 players. More accurately, I'd spend so much time trying to figure out how to get music on them that I would just give up. I use my old Android phones as pure mp3 players, but I might give another stab at loading up this one old iPhone I have dead in a drawer.

Hello Aaron, thank you for your video
I recently switched from High Sierra to Ventura as I’ve got a brand new Mac mini m2
But now I am struggling to transfer my files (songs) from my music library to my iPhone
After calling Apple assistance for about 4 or 5 times
I always get different and contradictory explanations
With iTunes I used to transfer only songs one by one not the full album because I did not want to waste unused space on my iPhone
With Music App it seems YOU CANNOT sync songs but album only. The Apple assistant told me the walk around was to create playlists and sync the playlist
But if I create a playlist it loads on my phone but I cannot update my playlist very easily
It was so simple before to drag and drop a song from my iTunes library to my iPhone and now it turns out to be my worst nightmare.
Lately the Apple assistant told me they changed the rules with music because now people use streaming platforms to listen music rather than having their own file and because my library was on an external drive ( my Mac mini only has 256Gb HD), I could not sync my playlists unless the files are ok my iMac internal HD. This does not make sense at all.
Please let me know if you have an idea on how to drag and drop songs only from Music to my iPhone
Sorry if this has been ask before or if I was too long to explain. But I am so much frustrated.😢

I did it using the playlist option and it works like a charm. Then the next time you add songs or need to update the list you make sue only the music you want is check marked for that playlist. They will show up as albums in the music app but you can also filter by playlist.

Hi Aaron. Thanks so much for the video. I’ve been moving music onto my iPhone like this for years, but recently the transfer has either not been working or the songs are greyed out on my phone, with an error message telling me the content isn’t available in my region. This is happening for music that I own as mp3s. Have you come across this problem or have any suggestions? It’s driving me wild. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Currently I’m using VLC for the music that Apple Music won’t play, but the interface is pretty poor and I’ve not worked out how to import playlists. Given I’ve got thousands of albums, this is getting very dull. I wish Apple would just stop being jerks.

Thank you so very much. This helped me quite a lot, but I am left with one other issue. Syncing music means you overwrite your iPhone using the music on your Mac or PC.
But what do you do with the Music and recordings in AAC that are on your iPhone (since 2009). How on earth is it possible to get those on your Mac?
And how to sync with older iPods an a Mac. With a pc it is easy. But why did Apple make that so difficult? I have several iPods stuffed with music that is mine, but because a windows pc crashed a long time ago I can’t do anything with it anymore. Not even with a modern Mac.

What music format do you recommend to have songs in that you put on your phone? I've got a bunch of CD's that I've ripped into FLAC files. Should they be converted to AAC? Or ALAC?
I generally like the first run of the CD the best. As they like to later do remasters that make them sound terrible. And on Apple Music, a lot of the music there are the remasters that sound terrible. And I'd much rather just replace those Apple Music albums with the files from the CD's I rip.

    • @myreview-aaronfischer
      @myreview-aaronfischer  ปีที่แล้ว

Great questions. If you are doing it on the iPhone I recommend doing MP3. The iPhone cannot read a FLAC file at all. To keep my music the way I want I just create playlists. Even for individual albums that I know are mine. I hope that helps.

@@myreview-aaronfischer I really wish I had enough money to buy a phone that has extra storage so I could put all of my songs on the phone and cancel Apple Music. Though it's nice to be able to check out other things you don't normally listen to. Though $10 a month isn't too bad I guess.
I remember back in the day, you'd buy a tape or CD and cross your fingers it would be good. Now, you can sample anything you want first.
