- In this tutorial, Dan Worrall explains the concept of mid/side stereo processing, discusses its uses using examples with the built-in mid/side processing in FabFilter plug-ins, and shows how mid/side recording and mixing is done using a mid/side mic setup.

You could explain this type of information to some people a thousand times, but it will still take them 10 or more years to fully understand without having to be reminded. I'm one of them. I've been privately studying audio/recording for over 25 years and I still don't fully understand it all. Some of it is just mind boggling. Thanks man..
OMG THANK YOU ! I've been killing my mixes with no dynamics and phasing issues this is a lifesaver I never knew why I was inverting the phase or what it even was. Most tutorials on youtube are a bunch of bedroom preset junkies that's don't really know what they're doing just know a few words and use them in a way that gives the illusion of perceived knowledge... I'm no professional but I'm sure I understand a lot more than I show. in this game, it's not what you know is how you use it!
utterly outstanding video considering it came from the official source, which shouldnt be surprising but I see so many official channels out there with less than stellar tutorials, or are too boring to watch. these are the BEST out there. thanks so much Dan and FabF!!

Legendary videos! I'd wish that many other plugin manufacturers made just as well produced product showcase+tutorial like you guys do! You get shown what the product is capable of and how to use it which is something a lot of other showcases lack!
In most cases with other manufacturers you just get slammed a plugin in your face and get told "look how pretty and powerful this is, now please buy it, and oh let other consumers do the explaining on how to use it"

This is an AWESOME video. I've been watching a bunch of videos over the last few days about how to do mid/side EQ, but none of them explained why or what is making it work.
This went into a perfect level of technical details and added a lot of information to my understanding of how to use mid/side processing.
These videos always have such great structure. Well done.

you can do literally the exact same thing with eq 8 from ableton, and i'm sure other daws have mid/side, otherwise it'd be a shit daw

Another fantastic video. The only qualm I have with Pro-Q's mid/side EQ is that it can cause phasing issues very quickly though.
Using linear phase will solve that, I would think.
Incomprehensible. Lots more handy examples on Q2 would’ve certainly helped. Gonna have to watch this another two maybe three times.
