This build has made me think boat ownership is possible, as a father one of my proudest moments was taking my son fishing and watching him catch his first fish, but like all young children only time tells if the kid will stay interested now two years later he is still just as eager to go to the lake. But we have been stuck on the bank and can't get to the good fish, owning a large bass boat would be nice but storing and transporting a standard size boat isn't really in the cards and a Kayak is great but it's not really a father son type of fishing craft unless I buy everything in double which I can't afford. So when I saw this build I was like that's amazing it's small enough that storage space isnt to much and transport isn't crazy it has the ability to take me and the kid fishing but also has the luxuries of a bass boat. The yak killer might not be the perfect boat for the two of us but it's damn near close, watching some of your other boat builds I'm sure I could find a compromise. My only problem is I wouldn't know where to begin to build a boat like this I've took a look at the TBN site and saw the kits, but to be honest I'd need a complete kit soup to nuts so to speak the entire package frame work, deck work, electrical, hatches and finishings. And I say this cause I wouldn't know exactly what is needed to purchase everything separately. Heck it'd be even better just to buy a finished boat if I could find one near me
I love that you just jump into it and go with your gut. That fish is what it's all about. I think a smart addition to the boat would be a jumper cable that would allow you to reposition the batteries up front or in the back depending conditions, how many people your fishing with, etc...
Nice build. Looking to do something somewhat similar maybe just not quite as complex. Any chance you could show the waterline on the boat when loaded (including you onboard)?
That's a nice bass at anytime, but especially for your first fish on your new boat... congrats!!! Thought it was a striper the way it kept making runs and peeling out drag on your reel.
I have often wondered if those extendable foam outriggers they use on kayaks could be used on a small boat like this. You'd raise them when running to your next spot and then put them down when fishing to give you more stability. Do you think this is a workable solution?
Hi tiny boat . My little Lund 16 DLX is perfect. Never getting wet. I love your little John boat. Over weight a boat is really bad. Thinking of using 1/2 plywood. That water you are on is dead flat and the boat looks far to tiny for you. It is beautiful, water proof, but only for one person. I need a two person boat.
Hey bro. Awesome build as always. I just bought a 16ft Marlon deep V and i want to deck it all out. Ill be making that my winter project. Do u guys ship to Canada? Ontario? Whats the best way to contact you for product? Bless and respect!
If you can make it 2 foot wider in the back and just a little bit wider in the front it be better than the hobie kayak I was wondering if you can cut it the Jon boat down the middle to make it wider in the back and front put a 2 foot Space in the middle if you know what I talking about how much would it cost to build something like that
I've been enjoying following your JonYak build! Not sure what battery setup you're going for at 1:40, but just watched a good $629 LiFePO4 Battery Review here: th-cam.com/video/ty3K1Ix69wE/w-d-xo.html That battery might benefit from a bead of sealant around the top as mentioned in the video to make it water tight. But good value nonetheless. I think I remember him saying they can be put in series to make 24v. Thanks for the great vids!
I think what this guy is doing is really cool but as a person I have issues with him. He blocked me from the TBN Facebook group without reason because I told a guy he was wrong about battery chemistry. I'm not a big fan of biting my tongue for precious little snowflakes who only want to hear what they want to hear... When acting as judge and jury one must look at the whole picture but he cares more about feelings than facts 🤷♂️
Yep these look awesome. But for the money there is no way they are worth it. You could get a very nice used bass boat for the price of money put into these
Great video, I love the fact that you are not afraid to share the fails as well as the successes. Awesome build.
Your build has given me inspiration for my 22ft fiberglass cruiser project. Storage is precious ☺. Thankyou.
Good luck!

those shallow water anchors are legit
Sweet Mike...just plain sweet! Well done!
Loven that shallow water anchor especially how it pivot around👍👊
Wow this build is awesome! I’m about to start my 16ft princecraft springbok build🔥🎣
Holy fish good bleesing for the jonyak

Nice build and truly a great sign when your first fish had weight like that.
Great video

Look into adding flotation pods in the back. They normally weld or bolt on.
Awesome. Keep up the good work
Awesome video brotha
Tighten that dang drag

Definitely had some striper-like fighting but it jumped so we knew it was a bass. You never see stripers jump.

They can be and it is still a running idea for us. We are looking into it.
Still waiting on a video of the custom plastic Sea Dolphin boat that you posted a short of.

Man that thing needs to have boat collars.
Looks awesome.

Much appreciated brother. Will do.
Nice
Good job

You can, but it's complicated
How is the stability?
Would the poles hold a 16ft John boat
Why are you paddling and not using your trolling motor
Cool!
Where in Tn are you headed?
thats crazy how your just catching them with no problem while we're having the hardest time catching one here in mass-
needs a boat collar, I'm sure you can make one doesn't look that hard to do

Float pods
Working on it; open to ideas.
Yeah he needs to get Nate to make him a set after doing the math to get the displacement right. Ditch the wheels, you aren't pond hopping.
to me it’s more of a skiff-jon than a kayak-jon.

nah
Over monitized. Infested with comercials.
It’s TH-cam not me. And honestly, it’s free TV. If you don’t like commercials switch to TH-cam premium.
