Sweet builds, no doubt about it. Don't forget about your average Joe viewers though! How about a budget challenge build? Maybe you and the crew square off with like a $1500 budget or so and poll your audience for the winner!

Thats my thing with these ones he's building is like your putting 30k into a 14 foot boat like I thought he was doing this to compete against the big ones and while yes 30k is less than the 60 to 90k......its still not reasonable....if I have 30k I can buy a full size 6 year old bass boat with all the bells and whistles it does seem kinda strange lol

Yea I mean he said $3-6k you can do a good build on a 16’ deep v. You can also look at paying by the hour, plane tickets expenses. That can be $3k-8k. So over all you’ll pay $6k-14k in a boat to be done in 4days?
Like my boat an 1987 v has Johnson 15hp motor limit is 900 ish pounds. Just me and maybe my young kids. But I want it for bow fishing also.

I think when you add up your hours of putting one of these things together I would have been money ahead to have taken it to you and had you build it! A lot of comments on here about it costing so much. Well how much do people out there spend on their dogs and cats? How much do people out there spend on their sup’d up F150 or other vehicles? It all depends on if you, yourself, want to spend the money. You can’t buy these elite tiny boats at a dealer. You either have to do it yourself or get Nate (maybe another Tin Can crew member) to do one for you. For the price you get custom and high functionality. Just go to bass pro and really look at what you are paying for. Most of them are crap until you get into the big bucks boats. They have no storage, live wells are small, the layout is crap. If I had 20K to spend would I go with a plane Jane bass pro boat or a fully decked out elite tiny boat? Another factor is durability. These elite ones are all aluminum, you never have to worry about rotting wood underneath.
And if you don’t have the money then do it yourself and on your timetable. Mike’s non-welded lid system is killer for a DIYer.

I bought a 14’ Gregor v shape for 300. Home built a trailer for it. Picked up a 89 Evinrude 35hp short shaft 2 strokes for $50 in unknown condition and fixed it up as a rookie boat mechanic (tons of research). Ran like a champ when tested it did 32mph but boat is empty just a temporary center console for testing. Next up imma DIY a cheap version of what these guys do for under 1k. Plan to repurpose a lot of materials and minimize purchases. Goal is overall cost under 1k and I don’t need advance electronics just my motor and trolling and lights.

  • @primelegend9504
    @primelegend9504 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I love watching the videos but these prices are a little ridiculous. Bang for bunk, price for size how ever you want to look at it. It just doesn’t seem worth it. Cutting out the trolling motor, 3x helix 7s(about 3k$) 14,000 - 3,000 = 11k + boat/motor 2k. 13k total minus electronics. That’s more than picking up a used bass boat, which typically comes with a trolling motor and some sort of fish finders.
I bought a used 1989 ranger 361v powered by a mercury 150. Came with a Minn Kota trolling motor(not fancy bare bones 12v TM). Had original black and white fish finders that barely worked. $2,700.
    What iv done/added:
Main Console: helix 10 MEGA SI g2n($500 used)
    Mount: Ballzout 9” ($50 used)
Bow: helix 7 MEGA DI ($550 new)
    Mount: Ram ($50 new)
TM foot pedal tray(free because it got damaged in either manufacturing or shipping, got refunded and didn’t have to send it back, so I repaired it)
    Carpet: $300
    New batteries: $300
    Misc: $200 estimate
    Total: $4650
I got lucky in finding the used stuff in good working condition. But even brand new I’m no where close to 13k. Hell I could add an Ultrex/mega 360/helix 10 mega DI on bow/atlas jack plate and still be under $13,000 and that including if I bought my current helix 10 Mega SI and ballzout mount new.
I always thought it would be cool to build a tiny boat for specific tournaments and fisheries, but not sure if it’s worth or feasible. Would love to see a budget build:$1000 or less for boat, $1,500 or less build budget cap.
