    I eatons swapped my Mach 1 @ 7psi in 2010 (owned since 2005), owned it for 9 more years after that, was not easy on it. Still purred like a kitten when i sold it. Very conservative tune from VMP. All i added for support was a Cobra fuel tank/pump. The bottom end and transmission was stock.

    If I had a Mach 1 (03-04) I would do a procharger rather than an eaton. Much less invasive on the Mach 1 setup. Plus the procharger would be a brand new unit with no possibly of worn out or broken parts to deal with. Whatever the case you can't dial up more than 400-450whp and expect the bottom end to survive for long.

      Procharger is a great way to go. I did this because of the root supercharger sound. Thank you for watching

    I’ve seen some companies are offering Terminator fuel tanks. I paid 650 for a used one LOL. Speaking of non complete kits, you don’t know how many people I’ve seen that send me a picture of just the Eaton and say hey will this fit on my Mach 1? I’m gonna do a blower swap eaton swap.

      I hear ya. In a few years I will look at picking up a truck as a tow vehicle. Gen 1 Coyote will fit the bill. But never underestimate what you can do with a 4.6. The Teksid and WAP block are just as strong or even stronger then a Coyote block. Its all about having the right internals. Thanks for watching Jim!

      @@MikesGarageRoute66 I can barely find a machine shop to do a 4.6 here, even harder to find someone to put it together, I suspect if I ever do one I may end up driving to Chicago with a truck full of parts, I know this clean freak that will put it together better than anyone here, hopefully for not to much $ LOL

  • @powermaxx

    That’s video just shows that he got a bad swap kit basically. I put a forged bottom end in my mach and cobra fuel tank so I’m gonna go ahead with a Eaton swap still.

    • @MikesGarageRoute66
      @MikesGarageRoute66  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is well worth doing it and I have a built bottom end and Cobra tank as well. The point I wanted to make was to plan accordingly so you have a good swap. Overall I am very happy with it. In all seriousness please reach out to me if you need a hand. I’ve helped a number of people on their Mach 1’s and Eaton swaps.

    i have a 1999 cobra clean title with 73k miles. I was planning on forging the internals rods and pistons then doing an eaton swap. Or would it be better to just sell it and buy a terminator? i really love the 1999 cobras over the terminators though. Thanks in advance

    • @MikesGarageRoute66
      @MikesGarageRoute66  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I’d do an Eaton swap on your 99 Cobra. Use the stock upper pulley and have a very conservative tune. 14 degrees of timing at WOT and 11.2:1 - 11.5:1 afr. Also swap out the rear end gear to a 3.73 or a 4:10. Having a little more gear is easier for the engine to move.

    Wouldn’t the Cobra’s connecting rods and pistons work to have a built motor?

    • @MikesGarageRoute66
      @MikesGarageRoute66  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      03/04 Cobra rods and pistons will get you there. The connecting rods were made by Manley and the pistons were made by Zollner pistons out of Indiana. The pistons were made out of 4032 forged aluminum. On the 03/04 Cobra's the pistons were the weak point. Not because of bad design but 4032 material is a compromise. It lives a long time due to the silicon content and fairly tight piston to wall clearance. But it cannot survive high boost like 2618 material can.
