- A walk up Glyder Fach, over Glyder Fawr and down Devils Kitchen. I have tried to give clear directions for the walk but in poor visibility a map and compass is needed.
In one frame I refer to Llyn Ogwen as Llyn Brenig… my mistake.
No probs. By the way, I'm doing the same walk but in reverse tomorrow. Good to chat Spencer. Keep on walking😊 Oh yeah, your pronunciation of the Welsh names was spot on unlike so many youtubers👌👍
Enjoy your walk, looks like a nice day for views. 👍
A very honest guide to a special walk that I completed last week in pretty much the same conditions, although I did the walk the other way round to you, I've watched several videos on this walk yours is the by far the most honest, it's not a easy walk but one of the best I've done 👍
Thanks, I love the Glyderau and the rock formations. I always try to be honest and realistic in my videos so appreciate your comments. 👍
Great vid of a walk I've done many times. Plants you asked about are Bog Cotton. Best wishes 👍
Thanks, I love seeing the cotton grass, although, as you say, it's usually boggy where it grows. ATB, Spencer 👍
Really enjoyed that 😊
Thanks Alan 👍
Hi Spencer, I loved this video. I did this exact same route about 5 years ago but never filmed it. Was in poor weather too. The top section of that scree/ gully ridge up to Glyder Fach (next to the Bristly Ridge) is unbelievably steep. Its slippery and loose rocks. It was fun and I made it to the summit but honestly I found it challenging and quite scary at times as its so slippery and steep. A guy 50m ahead of me dislodged a boulder the size of a football which came crashing down and I had to dive to avoid it hitting me! I would have certainly died if it hit my head. I remember after that having shaking jelly legs! Anyway great video mate , keep them up enjoying them! BW Adam
Thanks Adam. If you ever fancy some company on a Snowdonia walk let me know.
Yeah will do mate , no problem
Great video and thanks as it's really useful, as I'll be heading up that route when restrictions are finally lifted here in North Wales (whenever that may be).
Thanks Alan, hopefully not too long before we can get back out in the mountains. 👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer hopefully not too long. I've had to settle for local lanes and roads for now. I'll likely be doing Arenig Fawr as the very first walk in Snowdonia when restrictions allow.
nice video mate, i always do it the other way round as i prefer the scree up to glyder fawr more than the scree up to glyder fach. very informative video many thanks.
Cheers, I've done it both ways and it's a killer every time! 😂 Thanks for watching. 👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer im up there once or twice a month give us a shout if you want a day out in the mountains, thats if you can stomach a west brom fan lol.
I will do mate. Don’t worry about being a West Brom fan, I’m a Liverpool fan and will probably be insufferable when we win the league! 😂
Great video. That scree route up or down from Glyder Fach is horrible. A mountain rescue guy told me they tell people never to take that route.
I can vouch for that, I've done it up and down in the past. Never again! 😂
Another great video mate thanks for showing it you got super weather not sure I could get up that way as I always walk with my border terrier I went up the south ridge great mountain as you said look forward to your next post 👍ps while we are on the subject of scrambles I watched your scramble up pen yr ole wen in the gulley any thoughts on getting up there with a terrier that would be all the 3000 footers for me apart from crib goch which I would not attempt with a dog cheers for now 👍
Cheers mate, always great when the weather is on your side. The Pen Yr Ole Wen scramble up from the lake is a great little scramble and I would say your terrier would be fine. Might be a couple of places you would need to lift him but it's not particularly steep. The other route I've done up from Ogwen cottage is definitely not dog friendly! Thanks for watching. 👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer thanks for your reply spencer is that easier one from above fynnon llowr and is there an easier way down 👍
Yes, that's the one. Follow the stream up and you will see the path on your left. When you see the lake take the path that splits left and that's where the scrambling starts. The same way down is easiest unless going across the Carneddau. 👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer thanks for that all being well we will be down there for 2 weeks in the summer I will follow that route and over to carnedd dafydd I just checked on my list and I also have foel fras to do which will be over drum from the conwy valley heres hoping we can all get back to a bit more normal life this year best wishes for now keep the videos coming when you can 🤞👍
Looks fun. X
i think the flowers are cotton? could be wrong
Yes, cotton grass I’ve since learned. 👍
Another liked video atb from mick
Are there cows on this path? Thanks
Sometimes but not often, Just on the lower part. 👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer thanks looking to do first camp in Snowdonia and was looking to go here, also Pen y ole wen but after watching your video looks very steep with a heavy pack!
@@DJVOutdoors it is steep whichever way you go up to Glyder Fach or Fawr and a heavy pack doesn’t help. Saying that, I’ve done it a few times with a heavy pack and it’s not a major problem. Pen yr Ole Wen is not too steep a climb up the the lake but gets steeper after that. It can also be very boggy after rain. 👍
Cotton grass
Thanks, I know now but had never heard of it before. You live and learn 👍
