    500 candidates per officer? Wow! That is a lot of work but it is also great to be assisting so many people through the process.
    Also, thank you for doing what you do. Seeing the some of the hard circumstances you described is unthinkable to many but the victims need to be helped. Thank you for doing that role.

    I don't understand, why are they paid so much when most cops in other states barely make over 60k a year?

      Living expenses in California are higher so pay must be respectively higher as well.

    As of January 1st 2023 you no longer have to be a citizen to be hired as a peace officer in the state of California, you only require at least a work permit with legal immigration status, Senate Bill 960

      Their website says, “Police Officers are eligible to compete in the Police Sergeant or Police Detective examinations after four years of service.” I also have hopes of becoming an LAPD detective.

      More than 90% personal in LAPD are Police Officers.

    What do I have to do to become L.A.P.D SWAT?

      Join the military first to get some decent experience. Look to become a infantry soldier or a military policeman and spend some quality time in the military or national guard. SWAT members need to be fit so start working out soon. Also become a swat officer in another police department before you transfer to LAPD because LAPD might have other people who want to join the swat team

      Rajon you don’t have to have any military experience. It would help but it’s not needed.

    I wonder why she doesn't tell us how, out of that $93k/yr, roughly 50% goes away thanks to: retirement, medical, union dues & of course taxes. Not worth mentioning huh?

    Being a cop sucks. This is a terrible time to be in LE. Everything you do is viewed as wrong and most commands are puppets and don’t back their officers like they should.
