I honestly believe the Chrysler 3.6 Pentastar is one of the best modern heavily mass-produced engines ever made. Damn things go forever, they’re stupid reliable, and the fact that you can strap a supercharger like this to it stock with no issues is a testament to its versatility. I saw a guy tear one down on video with literally just under 700,000 miles on it, and you could still see the crosshatching in the cylinder walls. I’ve never seen that before in an engine that heavily used.
ehh reliable? They have known issues with rockers going bad. Just had to get mine replaced at 38k miles. There is videos all over the internet on this.
Financially speaking it makes more sense to get the 3.6 and add a supercharger than get a 5.7 since you'll get more HP per dollar. However you could also add one to the 5.7 and it'd be better than a 6.4 without one. At the end of the day though, between a super charged 3.6 vs stock 5.7, it'll win all day. Sure, you can say you have a v8 but let the horsies do the talking.
Ok, the current Chargers are hands down my favorite cars being made, but up until this very moment of finding this video, I haven't pulled the trigger on buying one because the V6 is the only one that fits my current situation in a practical sense, and I just know that everytime I started it up and even began to move, I'd be wishing I sprung for the V8. Well, NOT NOW! Thank you so much for this. I'm 40 years old, I don't ever plan on racing my car, I just want the power under my foot if the mood strikes to have a little on ramp fun, especially when the car I'm driving happens to be a Charger. Plus, now I can have that with V6 insurance and fuel economy. You guys are truly awesome.
@@claytonroot806 Actually sir I gained mpg's because now the car has precious cool air delivered to it by a self sustaining unit. FYI...term “Hemi” refers to the type of cylinder heads. Not “just” the motor. The term “Hemi” is short for Hemispherical...in other words the spark plug is located directly in the center (top) of the piston...rather than at an angle like many other auto manufacturers. As for the SXT, or even the SE...the Pentastar 3.6L V6 is actually a hemi motor.
@@thefuzzypickle8277 the HEMI V8 is a powerful and formidable performer in its own right. But when boosted or supercharged it's not as durable as the new 3.6L Pentastar in the Charger/Challenger. You'll have to spend a ton of money to boost a V8 to have it run right without issues. Look at the videos.

This is real cool and the Pentastar can handle the power, but I'd be concerned about the transmission. The V6 Chargers and Challengers have the ZF 8HP45 transmission, which has a MAX rating of 450 hp. I'd also be concerned about the longevity of the driveshaft and differential as well.
As some one that owns a 2012 3.6l Charger.. I'm looking at this and saying screw a 5.7 swap.. I'll most likely end up doing this super charger with a diablo tune.
The manufacturers do use the accessories on the engine along with the exhaust system when doing factory power ratings. They also do pulls with the coolant and oil temp at operating temperature(usually 185+ degrees). A set number of tests are done and all the numbers must be within a certain range of each other, then averaged. So when you take a car to a chassis dyno, let it cool, open the hood and put a fan blowing heat away from the engine, it's going to make the engine seem "underrated". Not including air temp difference, humidity, elevation and so on can push numbers up or down.
Thanks for the input and for stopping by. We do really appriciate your, perspective and points of view. However no singular independent dyno test, on any dyno we've ever seen has ever (ever) achieve the factory claimed HP numbers. Every test we've ever done or been witnessed to has had a 15 to 20% drivetrain loss in its result in respect to the OEM HP number. This includes CARB testing in California for the ARB as well as supercars like Lamborghini and Ferrari. We cannot in any way agree with your opinion or perspective.
Great product . Two recommendations for future buyers . Get a oil catch can and a custom dyno tune if you want the best results from this supercharger.
Can't wait to pick up a kit for my 2016 challenger :) incredible numbers from a pretty much stock setup! any exhaust y'all recommend for good power gains?
I just got mine not too long ago and about starting to make plans of modifications on it like this one in the video. It's been 3yrs now so did you get yours done and how did it go?
When the OE gets the SAE net HP, the engine is tested with all of the accessories from the alt to the emission equipment. What you talked about is gross HP, not SAE net. The OE rating is very strict, the process is supervised by an independent SAE engineer.
Yes. thank you for your input. We really just try to dumb down the explanation becasue the general audience has no clue between the two. The over all reaction to a chassis dyno HP number is always "it's too low a stock number" and that our value is low in comparison. But the reality is we have a huge increase in power and performance. While a full detailed explanation is merited, most understand it the way we been delivering it.
This kit looks great but price vs just buying a 5.7 and or 392 is cheaper then adding one of your kits ... (btw which will void the powertrain warranty the moment this kit is installed ...
This is cool and all but if they’re buying a 3.6L isn’t not because they plan on racing it. It’s more than likely for fuel economy so to supercharge it seems redundant. Just my thoughts
Yeah some ppl just don’t have the money to step up and get the hellcat and stuff so they buy a cheaper charger and supercharge it and still get good HP
What is this motor able to handle in PSI levels safely as a conservative build. I know hemis aren't big on PSI as the head can crack and certainly I don't know much about this engine as I always put it down. Please get back to me, I'm looking to buy the AWD V6 soon so I'd like an update on warranties, fuel consumption, psi conservative build.
Kevin, we've been supercharging these 3.6's since 2012 in our Jeep program with the same boost levels, same tuning and timing. We've proven reliable systems and have an immense amount of knowledge on the pentastar. All systems we sell are meant to be reliable daily driven vehicles.
Those are great numbers! Any chance that a kit is being developed for the 6.4L truck engine? I have a '15 power wagon that is not quite living up to its name.
I would love to go supercharge my charger sxt, but that wait time to get it done, I'm kinda leaning towards twin turbos with a cold air intake and cat back exhaust, still new to thinking up what to modify on my new V6 baby though
broooo same. I was gonna go with the supercharger but it’s very pricy and I need to get the money AND I’d have to wait the 16 weeks. I’m def gonna be twin turboing my sxt.
300s is coming into our shop mid November 2017, we will have video of that as well. However, the HP is expected to be the same as the drive-train is the same.
My mechanic had problems with the new tuners: he called Ripp to get help & they sent him a corrupt file for the tune. He yet called them again the dude was super rude to him & eventually hung up on him. He yet called back and got someone much cooler & he eventually hooked him up with a guy from HP tuners. Better luck with yalls systems. Not to mention it took 5ish months for them to ship these things out AFTER I paid because of these tuners. 😔
Stefan Hoffmann thank you for your input. We appreciate all aspects to try to do the best job we can. We can assure you no one at RIPP would be rude to a client especially in tech, we all care very much about this program. Additionally the tunes are all flipped by HPT for us, if we involved HPT it's because we pointed that way for tech support. Lastly, these ship daily now, they took a long time to ship because of tuning and programming issues like this. We are all very much engaged with our clients so it saddens us when we get a review like this when we have so much positive energy around it.
I’d guess 11 or 12. Should probably look into a fuel pump and forged pistons if you’re going to run that much. A lower psi and you wouldn’t need those things like he said.
My $40k Charger Scat Pack ran 12.2 at 112mph. 4.0 0-60. Nothing but Airaid CAI and 305-18 MT street R tires on the rear. That’s still awesome what you can do with the 3.6. I had a Rallye Charger and thought about doing this but decided to spend the money to get a 392. The pros of spending that money on a 3.6 though are, you’ll be almost as fast as a 392 and whoever you’re lined up against won’t know what hit them.
MAD MAX are you serious?! Dudes are a major fuckin ripoff for $15k you can just use that put it on top of the v6 car price.. and buy a scat pack charger you will be pulling more horsepower withouth the fuckin hassle
Jose Polina dude where are you getting $15k from? I bought this kit with the heritage edition supercharger which is a couple hundred more than the standard supercharger, I used discount code ILEXO and saved $385.. I paid $5800 total for the kit, and $2500 for my mechanic to install it and tune it.. that’s $8300 TOTAL.
RIPP Superchargers You might want to be a little more honest about those claims. Your system is great. But it exceeds the maximum torque handling limits of both the 845rfe (v6) and the 8HP70 (5.7, 6.4) . 845rfe has a limit of 450 newton meters which converts to 331 ft lbs. The 8HP70 has a handling limit of 700 newton meters which converts to 516 ft lbs. Your kits create more ft lbs at the wheels that these transmissions are built to safely handle. Will they immediately grenade? No. But it has a greater chance to. Will it have decreases lifespan over stock. Yes. I feel you would get more trust from your customers if you let them k ow about this instead of giving them the false belief that no problems will occur with the transmission or that the transmission can handle it with no possible issue. Just my 2 cents (Transmission mechanic) . P.S. have you unlocked the 2017 PCM yet or would a customer still need to purchase a blank/unlocked PCM to be able to tune their car for your system if they or an aftermarket shop did the install instead of you? P.S.S. I hope you don't take offense to my comment. I mean well. No disrespect meant.
they have proven it can handle a lot more then advertised. the "limit" is a arbitrary number it seems like, I'd trust a real world test. and actual result over a factory spec rating.. they are known for being inaccurate all the time.
Chris Cheezer You obviously have not replaced transmissions on cars day in and day out like i have. And they break when the car has not been modified. So when you do put more power down...they tend to break faster. If they didnt...the aftermarket side of reinforced built transmissions would not need to exist. And the manufacturers are never really wrong about the stated torque handling limit of a given part. The majority of the time they are spot on. But you obviously didn't read all my post. I'm not saying that these transmissions will immediately blow up from the increased power or torque...what is has been proven many times for years...that is you put more power down thru and engine or transmission or part that isn't built to withstand it at that level...that more times than not...your getting decreased life and often a catastrophic failure can occur. Are there times that they are wrong and a part or engine exceeds the factory rating? Yes...but it's very rare. Why take the chance? You don't want to know the repair cost for these 8HP70 or 845rfe is...or the replacement cost. Why push your luck just so you can be a little bit faster than the "other guy"?
I mean they are adding 175-200HP!... Yes it's worth it, that's the name of the game. When transmissions start breaking, then we'll talk, until then it's all speculation. I'm sure RIPP, the world leader in supercharged v6 mopar's would know better then us.. were honestly just keyboard warriors just speculating.
Your insurance will be much cheaper than having a V8 too...the only modifications I think will be needed is a larger driveshaft, and a 3.09 Differential to support the power to both wheels instead of one (Rear Driver Side).
No other modifications are needed, the entire factory drivetrain holds the power just fine. SRT rear end is a fun upgrade if you want the gearing change.
It's a Mercedes-Benz V6. Don't believe me? Open the hood. Look at the front left corner of the Cyl.Head. that sensor has a star on IT.....a 3pointed star. Not 5
Wow dude you're right! there a 4 plastic wire clips that clip into the cylinder head in front and each one has the 3 pointed star w/ a circle around it. Last I checked that was a Mercedes-Benz logo.
Daimler Chrysler Mercedes is Chrysler which is dodge .. evry single car they have ever maid had the same symbols.. just like Honda and Acura, Toyota and Lexus, vw and Audi which are all the same way
patrick spaugy No, it is not. Chrysler is it's own brand, not like VW and Audi or those other examples. Mercedes and Chrysler were partners during the mid 2000's and share some parts.
@@EpicGoldenWarrior chrysler hasnt been its own company for several years now. As of January 21st 2014 They became Fiat-Chrysler which makes them a subsidiary of Fiat. And since Dodge is a Chrysler brand they are also influenced by Fiat. Chrysler has traded hands more times than a $1 bill printed in 1995. Lol. But that doesnt mean they arent a good brand. It wasnt very common knowledge in 1987 because of the lack of google but for a brief period Chrysler owned Lamborghini. The Dodge intrepid was actually designed by one of Lamborghini's designers. Dodge and Lamborghini partnered up on a one off Daytona and they stuffed a Jalpa's V8 under the hood. It could barely be driven because of the oil pan riding so low that it basically drug the ground but man was it awesome to see that italian V8 under the hood of my favorite car of the 80s and 90s! If you think back to a car in the early 2000s the Crossfire, that was essentially a Mercedes CLK with a different body. The entire drivetrain was mercedes. That was built during their Daimler Chrysler era. The re-release of the Dodge Dart (no, for you youngsters out there the Dart wasnt a NEW model name for Dodge) was one of the first cars built under the Fiat-Chrysler partnership. Some car companies like Chrysler have resorted to mergers rather than huge government bailouts like some other manufacturers did **cough cough GM.... And if you need evidence just google Fiat-Chrysler partnership. And if you want to see the Daytona i talked about google the 1989 Dodge Daytona "Decepzione"

Actually the AWD HP is about 30 whp less, its the same as our 3.6 Grand Cherokee kits.
RIPP Superchargers that's understandable. You have more weight, more components
Imagine dropping some pistons/crank in there and a twin turbo.....
Then you would have a Nissan GTR engine
RIPP Superchargers so then you do have the kits for the awd I'm looking at getting a sxt here in the next month and really would like to order if so
Can't wait to pick up a kit for my 2016 challenger :) incredible numbers from a pretty much stock setup! any exhaust y'all recommend for good power gains?
We may have something in the works :)
I don't really like Dodge Chrysler cars but for real man good job.
I need my 2015 Dodge Charger SE done!
That is the beauty of the centrifical supercharger it does not force the engine on Lower RPMs and makes power at high RPMs
Jesus 430 that’s insane
when you slowly saving up to do the same to a jeep :D
Dam he got that car sounding like the hybrids
Just what I was waiting for ripp fits best for my v6 I hope they have a reliable finance because it's quite pricey but outstanding HP numbers
STX Pro Reliable finance LOL like you think you’re going to make payments to them or something
They actually finance.
You guys should install one on a camaro ss or a corvette i would enjoy seeing that! Big fan already
good stuff. I want v6 now.
This kit looks great but price vs just buying a 5.7 and or 392 is cheaper then adding one of your kits ... (btw which will void the powertrain warranty the moment this kit is installed ...
I'm curious what the ballpark price is.
Does this work for a 2019 gt ? If so how much hp will it increase by ?
Slim Reaper yes it’ll work. And you can see it on the video
This is very tempting to add to my 3.6 L Chrysler 300. Would be the perfect Christmas gift lol 😂😂🎁🎁
This is cool and all but if they’re buying a 3.6L isn’t not because they plan on racing it. It’s more than likely for fuel economy so to supercharge it seems redundant. Just my thoughts
Chris Shannon false so people just dont got the money im about to supercharger mines...
Yeah some ppl just don’t have the money to step up and get the hellcat and stuff so they buy a cheaper charger and supercharge it and still get good HP
The fuel economy from a 5.7 and. 3.6 is not that different its about 2-4 mpg
I got the 3.6 because it's AWD and I live in Michigan but still want to get some horsies
Not to mention savings on the insurance
I love all your work!! Hopefully one day I'll have the money to supercharge my Dodge challenger Rt 2014.
I need this on my Challenger SXT plus
I have my kit ordered!! Can't wait for this to go in my basic 2018 Charger!
I want to put my 2019 Dodge Charger GT on this! “300” horsepower. I can ima gains what it can do after this mod.
Same here; I got all these hellcat bell and whistles in my GT
and wonder what would happen if the thing was super charged
I have a charger Ralley awd with 300 hp Ans if I could get 200 more then ima end up beating a v8
My 2019 is definitely getting this done to it
Same
Do you have a kit for a 2018 ram 3.6?
Yes it is! Modified more then one what about thee bremmbo calipers?
I begging you please take my money!!!!
Probably late 2018 if we do
Will be purchasing once they are available.
First comment, loved the video man!
With talks of HP being exceptional, what happens to the fuel economy? Can we get an update for that?
d3lan011 we have seen a MPG gain of 1 to 4 when driven normally. When you lay in it, it's still better than a 5.7 or 6.4.
If you're springing for the supercharger, then you don't care about fuel economy.
Brandon Wilson why not? If you want to daily it, you can also take mpgs Into consideration..
What I meant by that was if you had the money to pay for a supercharger than you didn't care about buying lots of fuel
RIPP Superchargers more power and increased mileage? Is that on the awd as well? Snowy climate up here
I would love to go supercharge my charger sxt, but that wait time to get it done, I'm kinda leaning towards twin turbos with a cold air intake and cat back exhaust, still new to thinking up what to modify on my new V6 baby though
broooo same. I was gonna go with the supercharger but it’s very pricy and I need to get the money AND I’d have to wait the 16 weeks. I’m def gonna be twin turboing my sxt.
lmk what else ur planning on modifying to ur v6 cause I need some ideas too
Keep me updated to. I can’t get the kit till next year
Really want to put one on our 2017 300 S.
300s is coming into our shop mid November 2017, we will have video of that as well. However, the HP is expected to be the same as the drive-train is the same.
I have a 2015 300s...
I'm very interested.. also....
Get that vid up asap please!!!
Need to buy one first.
Want one for my 2013 300S 3.6 AWD!
What would something like this cost on 3.6 charger
$5,800 before tax, shipping, and then you have to factor in labor costs.
I’d like to know how much a upgrade like this would run? Out the door installed.
Outstanding hp gains, especially for a v6! How many # of boost?
I’d guess 11 or 12. Should probably look into a fuel pump and forged pistons if you’re going to run that much. A lower psi and you wouldn’t need those things like he said.
Great Product and professional explaination, i believe this motor was designed for boost in mind. Great example is Ghibli's 3.0 v6.
Faster than the scatpack!!
Teeovo productions yes, many late night races in Mexico have proven this.
Teeovo productions no
My $40k Charger Scat Pack ran 12.2 at 112mph.
Great video. All Facts. I like that.
So you guys install it for your clients?
Please contact sales@rippmods.com
MAD MAX are you serious?! Dudes are a major fuckin ripoff for $15k you can just use that put it on top of the v6 car price.. and buy a scat pack charger you will be pulling more horsepower withouth the fuckin hassle
Please disregard the fake information provided. Installations are not 15k. Email our sales guys for an accurate quote.
Seems like a good channel . I liked the video . I subscribed 👍
Thank you for your support!
What does something like this run, installed?
socialninja22 sales@rippmods.com
socialninja22 good question
Heard just about nothing but good things from D_DOT_FORD about you guys and i can't wait to supercharger my charger.
Shame they are sooooooo Damn Expensive.
mpbclutch33 how much?
mpbclutch33 but really it's not more expensive than anything else that's well engineered. It's a complete system that adds 200 real world HP.
Right...a Scat is what, $36k after rebates? This car is at that point or more now with no warranty and no more room to really grow.
You get a used v6 dodge for dirt these days... I'm looking into a magnum
bluetorch181 oh no a magnum...don't do it lol
Answers all the questions
Will the awd charger trans hold up to this power ?
robfrmny21 yes actually we've been supercharging V6/V8 AWD Durango and Grand Cherokee for years and they hold up perfectly
RIPP Superchargers
You might want to be a little more honest about those claims.
Chris Cheezer
You obviously have not replaced transmissions on cars day in and day out like i have.
This is dope i have a 2015 3.6 all i can afford at 18 right now but id like to tune/mod it up
D'OH!
Hmmm might do this with other upgrades to get the full horsepower upgrade. What size tires do you recommend and what suspension should I run?
Once the warranty is done muahahah 👿
@@patrickspaugy3112 they havent been Daimler Chrysler since January 21st 2014. Theyre Fiat-Chrysler now.
Excellent video...And excellent product !!!! WOW!!!👍👍🏁
Still 100 less than an SRT! What's the point??
macstone9 no it's not
macstone9 WHAT... stock SRT don't lay down 530
That v6 charger is at 490 engine horsepower. Which is more than the Srt. And is also weighs 500 lbs less.
macstone9 cheap af
LoL!!!!!!!! she's probably high on acetone. give her a break, lol...
With the base tune you guys provide with hp tuner is the 450 hp to the wheels, or do you have to get it tuned after?
I whole heartedly appreciate the time you guys have spent perfecting this kit. Have you guys started the process of getting this kit carb certified for lame ass California? I'd get it in a heartbeat but well, it's the state I'm stuck in atm. Thanks!
Dark Illusions Films we sure have and it will be for 2018
RIPP Superchargers amazing, perfect timing actually. Thanks so much!
that's what I will be getting for my 300s with the same powertrain
Awesome guys! Very nice!
Is this for both RWD and AWD also will the sxt breaks be able to handle the power, and finally how much would this cost for a 2015 RWD sxt
I have exact car and color, fun to drive, I’m happy with it, dnt want to do any mods that would effect my warranty though
