    Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Reed Knight himself tried to take this badboy off your hands. Matching SN on the can and the gun? That really is unique for these early SR25s. Dude, its super cool.

    Trivia for the kids;
    I think I remember that the barrels were Rock (manufacturer) 5R barrels, which were super special back then.
    The gas block with the threads were a borderline item. The AW Ban (clinton) came into effect just around these rifles production. Everyone was scared that dangerous threaded barrels would land then in jail, so Knights changed the original design to a non-threaded gas block. Some with the threads leaked out before the change. Afterwards the ones with threads were called "military" barrels and were available but I dont remember the criteria for getting it, other than additional cost.
    They also cut the bayonet lugs off the Standard SR25 rifles before shipping.
    Most of the original scopes I saw at the time were Mark4M1, fixed 10 power. Scopes with mil dots were another dangerous item to be in possession of.
    No collection would be complete without a copy of Soldier of Fortune, Death in the Long Grass article by Kokalis.

    Check the locking lugs/star chamber for abnormal wear. I am wondering if the force of the hammer hitting the BCG is causing the bolt to over-rotate and stay locked in battery.

    • @Frank-uw5xq
      @Frank-uw5xq หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Right.. that sounds plausible... definitely need to disassemble that bolt too

    • @aaronfarnsworth7653
      @aaronfarnsworth7653 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I hadn't heard of that condition before. Shouldn't it have already reached the end of the camming groove and be unable to rotate further? Maybe a bad tolerance stack in that case leaving just a smidge too much room? Might be something School of the American Rifle can look into for him.

    That Vickers Guide looks like quite a book with quite a price. It appears you do have a low serial number. Did the book show the changes as it evolved into the lightweight match/ mk11 mod0? List production numbers? I learned from this video that the numbers started at 20k. By the turn of the century or so they started adding letter prefixes.
    Yours has a decent group size that many will claim they can't do. I've seen a couple other targets that were slightly larger and slightly smaller. Yours has a horizontal stringing of holes while others have had a vertical string of connected holes. Was the rifle and suppressor bought from knights together originally? They may not have done it then but I've seen rifles at auction with 2 test targets to demonstrate suppressed and unsuppressed groupings. Looks like 30 mags so at least $3k in money right there. Only ever seen a couple knight's marked base plates before. I think thats another 'rare' thing to see.
    Its possible its just the added hammer spring resistance making the retraction difficult. If there is no undue play in the hammer and the firing pin isn't canted somehow it shouldn't bind/jam. That was the only thing I could think of mechanically that could bind it enough to require mortaring. If the hammer was catching on the head of the firing pin. Though that condition would be bizarre and require one or both to be damaged/malfunctioning . It is unnecessary to show yourself trying, but do try to give it more force in charging the rifle. Another youtuber who may be of assistance is School of the American Rifle. He has many videos detailing the failures of ar-15 parts so he knows his way around Stoner's action.
    Forgot to say, there was a knights made manual for them. Not as well made as the mk11 and m110 military manuals but a piece you may want. Check to see if the previous owner still has it laying around somewhere.

    • @SquallWulfhart
      @SquallWulfhart หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      In my experience, people who afford stuff beyond what you would expect are able to do so because their housing expenses are covered. Not partying isn't gonna get you a collection like this in a lifetime, but not having a mortgage or rent will add up very fast.
      It's a touchy subject for many, but I don't care how people get cool shit (as long as it's not stolen), I just like seeing it and having it compared to other high ticket items because few can do so.
