The objective of Judo in competition is to either take down or throw your opponent to the ground, immobilize your opponent with a pin or force your opponent to submit to you with a well placed joint lock or a choke.
In the early beginnings of its development Judo has been referred to as Kano Jiu Jitsu
and in modern day Judo became an Olympic sport starting in the 1964 games in Tokyo.
In this video we will talk about the founder of judo - Jigoro Kano, we will discuss the origins of judo and its development.

So he was only 22 when he founded Kodokan Judo and had practiced martial arts for 8 years? He would have been like a brown belt or 1 Dan by todays standards. Pretty cool.

In fact, young Kano's ideas and theories were still far from evolution and maturity. But he studied the catalogs and documents of the Kitoryu Jujutsu school as well as a tireless and introspective university student, and like a painter sketching a landscape on a canvas and gradually perfecting it, over four decades he developed his views on his style. which was known as Kano Jujutsu by other Jujutsu schools, he developed it until the mid-1930s and classified Kodokan Judo scientifically.
