I agree. I played my heart out because it came out the year after I finished high school. I watched every single tournament from 2010 including the HDStarcraft and Husky online invitationals for measly $3000 which then grew and by HDH3 I think Idra threw against Huk because of mass illusions but that could be MLG it's been so long. Anyway I stopped playing before HotS came out in 2013 because 1. Dota 2 came out and I had played Dota since 2004 and 2. It just wasn't the same game as Wings of Liberty. Just this year I worked with a guy that plays SC2 today. What the fuck.
Whoever you are AdvancedFilming, I have to say this video is absolutely spot on. I can see litterally 0 significant flaws in this video. The moments in this video are more than epic. I never wanted this video to end while watching it and 17 minutes of pure epic is a long time. The music you put in the video is incredible and really complimented the epicness. You even told what all of the music pieces were in the description. This is by far the best Starcraft video I have ever seen.
This video was awesome. SC2 is such an amazing game, and it was so fun experiencing it in its prime! This video brought back a lot of great memories, but the best part was at the end when that guy gave that speech; that was so sweet and heart-felt and sincere. I love this game, video games, and the people that play them!
This vid was only released 2 years after StarCraft 2 initially launched. Imagine how many epic moments have come to pass since then, what with Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void being things.
it took 3 years to answer apparently, he wanted to focus fire on the boulders behind his command centre but instead he destroyed the command centre by accident
3:26 Honestly, the nuke was not the high light. What was the highlight was Choya's incredibly ignorant and bad engage. All 3 Collosi attack the rax on the left, the zealots get bottle necked between the supply depot and rax, the high templars meet up too late, pretty much a good example of how not to engage as Protoss. Without the nuke, Jinro still wins.
Yeah I am also quiet sad that all the big names don't play anymore... It was a blast to see the star craft 1 players battle against each other in SC2. Yet in the end sc1 and sc2 are two different games. And many pros liked sc1 more, yet in sc2 the new generation stayed.
When those banelings came curling towards the terran in that all or nothing moment where the terran was completely overrun...redefines the meaning of epic. Thank you for this video it was amazing.
The ending was perfect, thanks man! I remember that day. The matches were awesome, but John took it to another level. I hope John is doing good. He was a genuine man.
Tbh in retrospective, the archon toilet was way to hard to balance and I doubt that blizzard every intended it to be in the game. It made toss lategame even stronger than it already was.
Most of the highlights are mainly due to history or excessive casterhype, so it's very understandable that nonSc2-players have no clue what's going on.
Apothis28A Kinda, MC taunted him about how he had jet lag and that was the reason IdrA beat him. So IdrA threw his match in the semi's to go and play for 3/4 to play against MC. Didn't work out to well.
12:10 MMA destroyed his own CC and still win the game why because IDRA's left the game. What can we learn from this if Idra is your opponent prepare yourself to win a game without a single fight.
Husky has gotten really annoying. I remember liking him back when SC2 was just coming out, but now I think he acts like a spaz and his voice is unbearable to listen to anymore. It's too bad.
For me that's why I watch e-sport in the first place. Because without their chit chat describing the game it's not very good to be visually impaired as I am. :D
I love esport, but there is no game wich is as good as SC2 and WC3 was back then... I hope it ll make a hughe comeback with lotv. Games like Dota and CS are awsome, but by far not as complex as SC2. You don't need a lot of knowledge to understand them. Nowadays we only have "casual" esport and not this extremly nerdy game where you have no clue whats going on if you havnt played the game a lot.
Anton M Thats bullshit i have ben playin SC BroodWar a couple of years and i almost reach 200+ apm and habing a macro game of 200/200 in 15 min and still losing whit C- rank in Iccup. Is not only timing and apm thats for shore. If someone put a Rak rush in close to your main base and you dnot find it in time, you provably loos in one min. If you look the game plays of some pro like SlayerBoxeR . You will realise shortly that he can win a game whit less army than his enemy. He have the most dinamy game style i have ever seen and what he does is not only timing and micro apm. Is a LOT of tactic performance involved in a pro SC2 game. A lot of strategy to, on how you spend your resourses. Is not just move the mouse speed and win NO!
+Quentin Rennard This guy, lmfao, you need to understand build trees for all 3 races. Than you need to know the strengths and weaknesses of all units in each of those races... Than you need to understand how to approach particular compositions and understand how to force your opponent into a composition that is beneficial for you... Opening harassment with Tempest to bait corruptors while massing blink stalkers to blindside your enemies lack of ground army. This game requires infinitely more skill and knowledge than DotA. What you need to understand is that there is an endless skill ceiling in SC2 because its a 1v1 game. Whereas DotA being team oriented has a skill ceiling based on your teams comp.
Man watching this in 2017 is so much nostalgia. I spent hours on hours on hours in my high school years playing and watching this beautiful game. SC2 might be dead but the memories will always be with us
Even as background noise most of this video, after watching it twice, is more exciting and thrilling than any other sports noise i have heard. Beautiful ending too!
+reginaldkenneth47 Well it says he made the transition to sc2, but yeah I double checked the video wrong violet. Still RIP I remember when he passed away, it was pretty sad.
Right, i agree with that. The Mothership however was a hero unit which you can only have one of. So many games, even at the pro level, came down to "can the mothership fuck up the entire zerg army?". The mothership core is much more in tune. Yeah it has the townportal and the planetary nexus, but it doesn't single-handedly decide the outcome of battles.
***** The mothership wasnt a problem in Starcraft 2. The Mothership core however allowed protoss to abuse everything, making them the superior race in SC2, and if you try to counter that with stats from ladder, im going to yell at you because protoss has been in every major final, most times just being PvP. They are dominant because they can abuse soo much that the other races cannot. Even without the mothership, protoss ruins zerg, and terran is inferior. You wanna know what unit does decide the outcome of battles? The high templar, except it can cast more than the mothership can, by your logic we should remove the high templar, essentially removing the protoss race from competitive play. The mothership core is a better unit than the mothership was, because of its versatility and the options that come along with it, but the mothership was apparently worse in your eyes, id like to hear your reasoning on this.
Damien Quinton The MSC was added partially to give protoss a way to pressure zerg early, something they completely lacked in WOL, in WOL they usually just sat at home on two bases, slowly taking a third, waiting for max supply army and then steamrolling the opponent. This was boring to watch, so in that regard i'm glad they added the MSC. If you want to argue that the MSC over all is stronger for protoss then the mother ship was, sure, maybe it is. As i stated though, my issue with the mother ship was how it could simply break the end game in a way that made it boring to spectate. What do i base that on? Watching a lot of pro games and getting sick and tired of seeing how PvZ came down to how protoss toiletted the zerg army and had a handful of Archons kill it off. You don't see that with the MSC. Notice that nowhere in my comments did i mention balance or OPness, i was strictly talking about how it made the game boring, so i don't see how "by my logic we should.." applies at all.
UltimateDuden why would not being able to rush someone make them op? Toss has a very hard time dealing with multiple drops by terran in the mid-game. and zerg idk...
he wants to destroy the rocks but misclicked the CC. You know, when you are multitasking, you'll A+click the rock, then move on to other tasks, then come back there to order your SCVs to mine when you feel the rocks are destroyed. It's not like you order the tanks to attack then wait for them before moving to other tasks.
These are Epic Moments? What is this, Bronze league? That one with the stalker has to be the most annoying thing, eleven minutes in and he's down to just one stalker? Just quit, you don't deserve to move on if you get taken out so easily.
yeah I bet you're in GM.. these were taken from tournament plays of the best players in the world at the time, and there was such strong pressure and harassment causing both players to be drained greatly (down to just one stalker)
I never said I was. And if that is honestly the 'best players in the world' at the time, I'm disappointed and yet I also understand why eSports isn't popular. It wasn't exciting to watch him waste our time running around with a single stalker. And honestly, if they both were unable to stop each others harassment to that point or worse yet allowed themselves to be broken down to that point while continuing to harass, then perhaps they shouldn't BE in the Grandmaster League.
I don't understand why you even clicked on a Starcraft2 video seeing as to how much hate you have towards it. This game is about micro and using your units to their maximum potential, hence why it was "so epic" to see that stalker being rapidly microed to take full advantage.
How much hate? Because those 'epic' moments looked like crap to me I must hate Starcraft 2? Oh goodness. I know good and well about the importance of Micro and Macro. But what that clip fails to show is that both sides didn't sure up their defenses against harassment, went to harass while they were wreaked BY harassment and thus resulted in a pitiful conclusion. Replace the commentary with Benny Hill or the Three Stooges Curly going 'Wuu Wuu Wuu Wuu Wuu' and it'd be comical.
Mark Harris do u know how difficult it is to control your units like that? it's not easy.. you're right that they let themselves get killed off, but they both took risks, but it was exciting. they had to make split second decisions, no looking back, with APM in the hundreds! how can u not be impressed by that?
Funny, randomly saw ponycraft a few years back and I'm like Starcraft sounds familiar. Turns out I played it as a kid way back b4 2000, never even got to play broodwars. So picked up SC2 almost immediately and nostalgia overflooded (for some reason the crashing of Norad II is firmly ingrained in my memory, and had nightmares about the evacuation of Mar Sara mission of SC1).
Ten years later, this video is still legendary. I hope it will never go down, as it is part of history.

Replace the commentary with Benny Hill or the Three Stooges Curly going 'Wuu Wuu Wuu Wuu Wuu' and it'd be comical.

do u know how difficult it is to control your units like that? it's not easy.. you're right that they let themselves get killed off, but they both took risks, but it was exciting. they had to make split second decisions, no looking back, with APM in the hundreds! how can u not be impressed by that?
that last one... right in the feels

+ApolloTurtle 12 Got it! Thanks
This game is almost 10 years old now. Crazy how many memories there are
Funny, randomly saw ponycraft a few years back and I'm like Starcraft sounds familiar.
Dat music! Those moments were even more intense. Great choice. :)
I feel like I watch this video every week... There needs to be a HotS Epic Moments Of All Time!
That moment at the end just gave me a goosebump...
this is awesome thanks for the video
One of the bests video-compilations in TH-cam. :')
