archons are doing an area-of-effect damage. It means that his attacks are damaging all units in a certain area, in this case on the battle cruiser because they are all close together after they come out of the vortex
so protoss sends archons into the vortex so that when all units come out of vortex the archons are mixed together with the enemy units and ready to attack them doing splash damage? do i understand it right?

+RPDBY yes, but they "fixed" this already some years ago. now the units thar come out oft the vortex cant be damaged for 2 seconds
