The Durango is being replaced by.. The 2025 Dodge Stealth SUV? What is Going On?

- It is being rumored that the 2025 Dodge Stealth will be replacing the outgoing Durango as Dodge's primary 3rd row SUV offering. This seems like an odd play considering the old school Dodge Stealth was a compact sports car that was beloved by many enthusiasts. Is this a good move by Dodge? Is Dodge just going to produce SUV's for the masses moving forward?

Stellantis is doing everything they can to kill off the Dodge name. Even if they don't know it as of yet...
My wife has a 2018 durrango v6 all wheel drive, not fast but has been very reliable, we haven't even replaced the brakes yet. Great suv wish they would keep making them.
I really wish manufacturers would stop calling suv cars name. It shows lack of creativity
I said that when the Mach E came out. Out of all the words in the English language and they reuse the Mustang and completely bastardize the platform.
I think the Stealth name is being misused here. Especially on an SUV. I am also saddened about the Durango going. Looks like the folks wanted to get one but other priorities have popped up so, looks like that's going to be a no go for a Durango V8. Anyhow, this replacement needs a different name. Stealth doesn't fit it.
I have a Dodge Durango RT, car really moves.
The Durango has the biggest, roomiest 3rd row of any SUV
At this point it feels like myself or anyone else should start shops that specialize in maintaining and restoring the Hemi powered Mopars that we all currently own and love. I’m hoping Dodge has a revelation and fights the system to bring to market something we actually want and desire to own, but we shall see. Fingers crossed and patiently waiting…
Vote Republican in 24 and stop the madness
No😅
I got a hellcat last year on that premise
@@MrElwood779but I’m not a big business how would I benefit from that 😂
No fight was needed. All they had to do was offer a hybrid powertrain on their lower challenger and charger trims and they would've been fine. That said, I would'nt exactly trust a hybrid from them.
I also loved the Stealth back in the day. The GT 3000 looked much better though IMO.
The dodge Durango is going back to be a body on frame full-size suv for 2024. There's no way is going to be replaced.
Hope You're Right!
Yes it is 😂
I heard it be the fullsize
It’s so terrible what they’re doing to dodge and all the other companies trying to get rid of gas engines, but like usual great content I love how I learn so much about cars that I didn’t really have that much interest in, You are truly “the car professor”
Thank the currant administration for carbon credits costing so much for companies to produce gas motors. Billions being paid to Tesla for their unused credits. BS just like the Paris Accord.
Well stallantis a European company are really trying to destroy the American heritage of dodge
@@bailey9r exactly! Whenever I say anything about the current administration people start negatively commenting, so I kinda left that out but you’re exactly correct

Looking at the Durango in the background, I couldn’t help to think, how cool it would look with a widebody option.

I truly thought that Dodge would be the last ones to stop production on fun gas guzzler muscle cars. I think that's what is the biggest shock to me. Thank goodness Ford is still galloping along with making American muscle 💪
Stellantis seems to have taken the brand names they want to keep (Ram / Jeep) and focused on them. Dodge is just going to die on the vine or live on as Alfa vehicles indefinitely.
That’s the problem gas guzzling muscle is cool but the future wins hang on to the 2024 hemi Dodge will hear you I think they’ll run a muscle line too many people feel as you do American Muscle
@@S8ER It's always crazy to see car brands die off. I remember in 2008 when a lot of car brands died.
They had a great run thanks Dodge😊

The HEMI engine is what brought me to DODGE in 2004 for my first RAM 1500 & now I have my 2021 Challenger. Also had many minivans for the wife & kids but this IS SAD TIMES for US MOPARS FANS
Sad times for born and bred Americans in general
I don’t know why Dodge didn’t bring back the Dodge dart. The compact segment is on fire! Just like Ford doing away with the Focus RS! That was like one of the kings of the hot hatch segment! You have the Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai Elantra N, Golf R, GTI, Acura Integra, on and on and on! Dodge could build the ultimate Dart! I don’t know what they’re thinking!
They kinda did.. the swinger 🤷
I SOLD CARS A FEW YEARS AGO😮💨I ENDED UP SELLING THIS LADY A DODGE DART THAT HAD BEN SITTIN ON THE LOT FOREVER💯AFTER THE SALE MY MANAGER TOLD ME HE WAS SURPRISED I SOLD THAT CAR BECAUSE LITERALLY THE DODGE DART IS THE WORST SELLING VEHICLE EVER💯🤣🤣🤣HE LITERALLY EXPLAINED THE MONEY THEY COST 2 MAKE GENERATES SUCH A LOW PROFIT MARGIN && THE DARTS WERE SOLD AT SUCH A LOW VOLUME IT WAS LITERALLY THE MOST MONEY LOST ON ANY PRODUCTION CAR💯
No thanks I’ll just buy a civic but I do like my himi in my Rebel
They did for a short time.
Because they want everyone to drive Kia and Hyundais.
If they are looking for a nameplate to revive for a new SUV, I think they should use “Matador” from their old purchase of AMC (just like they did with the Hornet). A 3-row SUV referred to as a Dodge Matador would be great IMO.
Or…..or, they could try and create something new.
The new Durango replacement will indeed be named Durango, i can assure you of that. They wouldn't have given it an all new interior 2 years ago if they were just going to kill it off. Original plans were to have it based off the Wagoneer as a cheaper alternative, but with the RAM Rev starting production in a year they wont have the capacity for the Durango also, instead it will be basically a restyled Grand Cherokee L, coming out for the 2025 model year. The current Durango will have a 2024 model. If there is any truth to the Dodge Stealth coming back as an SUV it would be a 2 row SUV slotting between the Hornet and Durango. Also, the all new Challenger will start production BEFORE the EV Charger. Currently the all new Challenger is planned to start production in June 2024, with the 4 door Charger starting production in September 2024. Challenger will start as an ICE, with possibly PHEV versions, whereas the Charger will first come as an EV only, but will have ICE and PHEV versions later on. I hope this helps clarify things for you and anyone else reading these comments.
Interesting
Well, Dodge has also had a few _"final calls"_ now. So we'll find out soon.
Thank you for all your excellent videos racer x
As we all know, Ford did this with Maverick nameplate, which in the 70's was originally a Sedan and coup. Mitsubishi did that with the Eclipse nameplate turned a sportscar into an SUV
Love the purr of the engine! I have a Durango R/T so I get some of that when I cruise around. There is no reason even for a V6 SUV, I am sick of car/truck manufacturing taking power and durability out of vehicles for the golden calf of zero carbon emissions. Its a V8 for me, I need my Hemi, and I am a middle aged momma.
Like Mitsubishi renamed the eclipse as an SUV. Hopefully the new Dodge SUV is named something other than Stealth
Goodbye Dodge!! They Had A Great Run!
Like you I also really liked the original Dodge Stealth and 3000GT. I also agree putting the Stealth nameplate on an SUV is ridiculous. I hate the new norm of taking the nameplate of a popular car and putting it on an SUV.
They don’t ask enthusiast’s opinions on these. An SUV called a Stealth would be weird. But I never liked putting the Charger name on a 4 door either. I would have called it a Coronet.
🏆Racer X 🏆100 thumbs up 🍀get R done 😎✌️
Good video, man. They are killing dodge off as we know it.
This guy never misses with the updates and thought-provoking content.
Awesome content buddy 👍
I agree racer x the durango name should remain and move forward with the car ..changing the name on the 3rd row seat offered vehicle is foolish !! We really collectively love this vehicle in all its varieties.
I agree, The Durango name definitely at more name recognition than the Stealth. I wouldn't mind if they decided to reach back in the history of Plymouth bring the "Fury" name into the Dodge brand.
Car companies are following the small SUV trend (feeding it now) at least to some degree because that segment has been selling well... but I think a larger reason for that market selling well was driven by :) small SUV's being more affordable than their larger cousins during the insane increase in car prices over the past 7ish years. Families can't easily afford $30K cars and crazy mortgages, etc.
Now we see prices of small SUV's hitting large sedan prices of 2016-2018 ish...
The spiral continues and we're looking for that next step down from what we want to what we can afford.
So sad they are getting rid of Durango and I love. The hellcat Durango you are in great video
We will be keeping our Durango R/T.
I agree with you about the naming decisions on vehicled lately. I think it is great to bring back a classic nameplate, but sticking it on a vehicle that has nothing to do with the history of the vehicle misrepresents the lineup in my opinion. Big companies like to change names because they think it ups the marketing hype and brings in more interest from new consumers... maybe it does, but give it a name that makes sense.
I find it very disappointing what Stellantis is doing to the Dodge Durango, as I have owned several in the past few years. They should keep the RT Hemi and throw a panoramic roof on it. The Hurricane engine has no growl!! There have been enough improvements over the years to the body, engine, and interior options to keep customer coming back year after year.
leased a Dodge Durango and so far very impressed. Seems better than the Jeep or the Explore. Very reliable maybe because it it is based on the old Mercedes platform.
Dodge making a BIG mistake calling it a stealth!
Why?
STLA Large,Medium and Small were designed to support both ICE and EV that was the last information I heard about those chassis. The Durango was supposed to BoF again like the Gen1 Durango but we haven't heard or seen anything to that nature or it might move over to the newer STLA Frame. But then again it could be out testing right under our noses and we'd never know. We are just getting glimpses of the 2025 Ram 1500 mid cycle refresh so it is hard to say what they have planned. Time will tell what they have in store. STLA Large is a derivative of the Giorgio Platform from Alfa which we know is under the Grand Cherokee. Work the kinks out first with the Grand Cherokees and then maybe we will start seeing more and more vehicles based off that chassis.
Personally I think BoF is a huge mistake and I’m not even going to entertain it. The appeal of the current Durango was its “car like” handling and agility. Plenty of other BoF options exists should someone want that. Dodge really has little interest in retaining its current customer base it seems. 😞
Dodge is just a name at this point. Stellantis is in charge and is focused on global platforms. Gas is pushing $8 a gallon this summer in Europe and in other first world countries.
That’s my exact Dodge Durango hellcat behind him. I love that color.
I think this is just a weird phase we will have to endure going all electric
Hopefully just a short one until they all revert back to gas.
We dont have to endure anything,People need to stop voting Democrats for one,And #2 DONT BUY EV, i wont and i will never vote for the communist Democrat party,so i have nothing to do with this nonsense
Americans are not going “all electric” anytime soon. Maybe in 2050, but not now.
I’m going to miss the Durango. I feel that model checked a lot of boxes when it comes to comfort, looks, power, sound and practicality.
Almost no Durango is to be found on any dealer lots except for a few Hellcats priced at 100K that no one wants any more.
Why do you think “no one wants anymore”? I know tons of people who want one but can’t afford it.
I got a 21 R/T same color, I'm sad to see them go, I hope they do something equally as sweet.
Ayeee Welcome to Tampa 😎
I love the hemi growl! Looking for a new Durango myself. Hubby has a Ram 1500 with the 5.7 V-8. Seems so sad to loose the best SUV (IMO) on the market. Hopefully I can find the right Durango before they are gone. Thanks for your video!
I think they are trying to find away to lose all there customers at 1 time 😂
All I have to say is Dodge better come out with some appealing cars/SUV’s or they’re gunna be hosed! Great upload bro! Love ‘em all👊
The new hornet has been selling well so far this summer.
Thanks buddy
Dodge getting rid of all of what made Dodge, Dodge. They may as well just close up shop and be done with it.
I think they will use the stealth name for journey replacement and keep the Durango on the grand Cherokee L chassis. I am a family of seven, a smaller SUV as you stated won't work for those families that have five or more.
I don't think I'd give up on dodge I feel they have something up their sleeves to bring to market that shocks everyone again. Like they've done so many times before and with the recent pushback on ev's. They love the shock and awe theme. That's what we all love about them. I hope I'm right.
Yes, but that was before the politically correct Stellantis bought them. It is a whole different ballgame now!
Yeah, they’re part of a conglomerate now. A big one. They’re done
Your absolutely right!
I test drove a Stealth and the only issue was every time I turned a corner my elbow would roll down the window, lol. I endued up getting a 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 Notchback.
I don’t care what Dodge is doing anymore; clearly they have no love for the MOPAR enthusiasts anymore thanks Dodge!
Dodge is dying right in front of us.
One other problem, when the Durango came out Mopar had no 3 row SUV offerings. Now they have several with dozens of trim levels over at Jeep. Overkill?
I believe Dodge is on the way to KILLING itself as the leading muscle brand. My next V8 may well be the Mustang when I sell my 2021 Challenger R/T+.😢
Dark horse is on my radar.
Camaro SS for me
2023 corvette c8 ZO6 for me
Sounds like dodge is going to put the “banshee” system into a suv.
The only reason I’m going for the GMC Yukon is cuz the Durango Hellcat doesn’t offer a bench seat shame they don’t
If we are being honest - the Durango needs a massive refresh. I don't mind the Stealth name - if they make it the same size, really update the visual appearance AND put one of the new hurricane engines in it - I'm sold. So many people here in the comments are so afraid of change - it's crazy. Auto manufacturers have to update their lineups to compete - V8 engines will soon be a thing of the past. A powerful 4 or 6 attached to a small battery/electric motor will easily match V8 power and give you 30-40 miles of all electric range to boot. My issue with most manufacturers - they are all jumping straight to electric - that makes no sense to me. Focus on PHEV and hybrids - at least until the batteries can hold 500 miles of charge.
If you were shopping for a V6 and had to choose between a SXT Durango and a Charger GT, which would you buy, and why?
Get the Durango, I just copped one for cheap.
I LOVED the Stealth as well but in a SUV, we'll see what it looks like when it comes out
Stealth as an SUV... not a suprise since, Chevy, Mitsubishi etc have taken a known name and made it an SUV/crossover because the sales figures point that direction... even though when they actually go on sale, the people who know what they were originally laugh.
Glad I have a 2023 5,7 Durango for the wife , and a 2010 Petty Blue Classic Challenger, and come October I found a Cherry Barn find 2006 Ram 1500 4dr 5.7 . with 20k miles . from a Friend that bought it New . Also a 2016 Jeep JK . I was here for the K cars and thanks to Brandon here we go again . Going to miss Mopar .
A big 300hp i4 turbo AWD in a new stealth platform.. woukd sell.... A lot
We just leased our second Durango this year. I love it. Perfect for our family of four plus the occasional friend(s) or cousin. I’m very upset with the change and sorry it took this long to find the Durango. But I’ll keep my hemi and see what the next few years bring.
It’s the same thing that Mitsubishi did with the eclipse turning it into a cross over. Does this mean that manufactures are going to get rid of their sedans and coops and go for the SUV and cross over?
Sounds weird to me.
I guess they's trying to stay compatible with the other competition I'm a old school guy and rims is a eye catcher for me I like thce shininess
Stellantis will realize when cars aren't being sold especially the electrics it will be too late to recover. This is America not Europe .
Any car, truck or SUV with over 700 is our favorite 👌
Had a 93 Dodge Stealth as my 2nd car.
Awesome car to zoom the neighborhood in. It got like 2k miles per gallon 😂 Glass Roof. It had some flash, kinda fast, wide body, nice interior (tight af but) the stick was torquey as all hell.
The 1st car actually registered in my name was a Chrysler wooden wagon 😂 But Things were a lil different back in the day. I started running family errands after school & picking my sisters up from their jobs at age 14 in moms Ford Fairmont and then my aunt & unk gave me their Dodge omni at 15. I also had a few hoopdys here & there, a regal and another Buick I gave to my boy Jimmers & then I bought the Stealth. I may have them two events backwards now that I think about it. it's been a while. 😂
Great video RacerX. I had heard rumors that the new Stealth would be an SUV. That doesn't make sense to me. Stellantis already has an SUV brand in Jeep. A truck brand in Ram. Dodge should stick to Hi-Po American muscle cars. JMHO
Dodge and Ram should have never been separated. They should be one brand again.
@@johnnymason3265 I can support that! I'm not sure why they split the brand in the first place.
Dodge has gone completely off the rails
aw man durango is the dopest truck out :(
I can see them using the grand Wagoneer chassis to keep it going
I have a 94 Stealth RT. :)
Being a 21 Durango RT owner I am very disappointed with the direction Dodge is going. Happy to see the stealth come back but it shouldn’t be a SUV. 😢
I mean is it really strange they naming the suv after the stealth. I mean look what they did with the mustang mach e. I was hoping to bring back the Galaxie name
We are keeping our Durango and Hellcats. No new Dodge cars for us.
I remember the Dodge Stealth of the early 90s.
Still praying daily for your mom, brother! Keep the faith buddy
Also why are they switching from the V8 to the hurricanes? From what I have read is that there is no real benefits from using the 6 cylinder hurricane. They both have similar MPG and carbon output . There is no benefit to switching to the hurricane.
I heard rumors stealth would be next concept suv?!
Dodge needs to reinvent the wheel; maybe they need to hire designers that sticks to its heritage when it comes to exterior design and interior. I don’t own a Dodge but I do think they can become a better brand; offer new body style and have more interior excitement, new leathers, trim badges, digital dash and MMI screens. I believe they can keep the Durango, but stay true to the exterior body design even though it’s a different chassis, give the Dodge enthusiasts and owners what they want but still keeping the history and heritage of Dodge. I think because of our country wanting to go electrified Dodge has to follow suite, but again you can still offer EVs but keep it separated from the I.C.E vehicles.
The Stealth concept shown here has potential, but the grille area needs to be cleaned up. It's too busy-looking for a performance car.
I was hoping the Durango would move to a full size platform. 😢
Was hoping to buy a 2024 Durango with a frame, Well if that is the way Dodge is going I might be looking at a Tahoe.
The news of the new stealth puts me to sleep but speaking of awd performance how is it that we must buy a special edition suv and cannot have an awd Challenger Hellcat Redeye or Demon Widebody with AWD?
They got some good stuff coming just be patient...you will see😉
I read online that the Durango is moving to the larger frame of the Wagooner.
The later models of the Durango with the larger infotainment screens are outstanding. I’m glad that we bought a 2022 Durango RT. It’s luxury and performance. Hard to understand why Dodge would phase out quality vehicles. Good video!
Dodge said that the Hemi will live but not on their cars, meaning that the Durango will live for 2024 and will continue to offer the 5.7 and probably the 6.4 too, but after that the current gen Durango will be gone, I wouldn’t drop the Durango badge or go all EV with it, I’d make a new Durango based on the new Grand Cherokee L instead and if they want an electric SUV I guess they could do it, but continuing to have an ICE offering.
There is no reason Dodge can't make a Stealth coupe with the hurricane engine to compete with the Mazda Miata, Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ.
They are owned by the French, and the French haven't made any fun cars since the 90s.
I knew Dodge Durango will get replaced with something but didn't think it be Dodge Stealth like seriously. RIP Dodge Challenger / Charger & Durango.

I’m with ya X! Why did Ford slap Maverick on a little wannabe pickup? Same recycling with names. It needs to stop! Great video! 😎🤙
The Ford Maverick was a 2 & 4 door compact car built in the 70s. Not a Sports type vehicle like the Dodge Stealth built from 1991 - .1996. Mitsubishi also sold their version the 3000GT between 1991 - 1999. Most younger buyers haven't a clue that the Maverick even existed. Ford owns the name and can use it any way they want. The new Maverick Pickup is a extremely popular small pickup truck, so it was a smart move by Ford using the Maverick name.
It's a name , get over it...
The stealth wasn't even a Dodge , it was a rebadged Mitsubishi....
I appreciate your support
watching Dodge commit suicide has awfully difficult. Dodge was so fuckin strong with their line up! everything from the scats and cats to the Viper and the Demon was just so damn good. i'm a Ford guy so I still have good times ahead, but it hurts to see Mopar die off like this.

For the people saying the Dodge Durango hellcat is overpriced. I would agree except that engine is crazy. I was never a Dodge customer and my first Dodge is my 2023 Dodge Durango hellcat but I love it, yes, the fit and finishes not like my Mercedes or range rovers that I had in the past, but it is still a lot of fun and I bought it with that in mind. Some people when you work hard enough you don’t necessarily buy something because of the value you buy it because you want it. Hopefully everyone gets to that point in life at one point on the flipside I do think this will be worth more than some of my previous cars that cost double this just because it was made for two years in limited numbers and basically it’s the last year of production so I have a funny feeling that this car will be valuable sooner than later but again that is not the reason I bought the car. I’m having a lot of fun with it it’s my first vehicle with 700+ horsepower, I think my fastest car was either my E 63 or Range Rover super sport they both had 500+ horsepower. But I’m having a lot of fun and if you could afford one go for it. I will be having lotta videos up on my hellcat because I’m also having some custom work done to it so if you’re interestedgo to my channel and subscribe.
