  • On this lesson, you will learn how to perform geometry rotations of 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 270 degrees, and 360 degrees clockwise and counter clockwise and visually explore how to rotate a point, line segment, and figure in the coordinate plane. For more MashUp Math content, visit www.mashupmath.com and join our free mailing list! :)
    Download the free rotations PDF lesson guide: bit.ly/2kuHyP3
    This lesson answers the questions: How do I rotate a figure 90 degrees? How do I rotate a figure 180 degrees? How do I rotate a figure 270 degrees? What is a rotation? What is the difference between clockwise and counterclockwise rotations?

      Honestly it might be a difficult for (some) kids with adhd. Their brains moves so quickly that math videos can be almost unbearably slow. However 2 possible solutions can be to use subtitles, or if that doesn't work out let them watch it on their own at a different speed. (If you can)

    Hi MashUp Math. I am quite confused on a coupe of things. First of all, Why is it that when you show the rotation rules for the CCW, P' (-y,x) P' (-x,-y) and P' (y, -x)? I thought that you write down plane coordinates with the x-axis first for every coordinate. Why does it change for rotation (or is this a simple mistake)? The second thing is, I am also confused as to why the coordinates almost "flip" in the rotation CW rules. What I mean by this is, for the R-90, it says P'(y,-x) but when you add the numbers, it clearly states that for R-90 it is P'(-8,-5). Then when you added the numbers, the R-180 said P'(-5,8). Why did it switch? Please help me with this confusion. I am currently studying this during the summer in order to move up a grade in math. I would appreciate it if you answered before school starts. Thanks! great vid btw :)

    • @xSzeth
      @xSzeth 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am 6 years late, but the reason the x and y coordinates are flipped is because the coordinates, say (2,3), are switched and become negative for 180 degree rotation. This means that it will become (-3,-2). You are correct about the x coordinate going first, the value of the x coordinate is what is changing. I hope that makes sense, and I apologize for being 6 years late.
