This video reviews the rules used for rotating figures in a coordinate plane about the origin. At the 10:20 mark, there is a shortcut demonstrated that can be used to as an alternative method.
Dude, thank you so freaking much! I had no idea what to do on my homework because my teacher doesn't teach...but now I know EXACTLY what I'm doing! You saved my butt!
you say that like its normal for a teacher to actually teach your teacher obviously didn't teach you that teachers prefer yelling at you and making your life miserable than actually teaching
The book we use only covered Counter-clockwise (CC). But, you can still use the CC rules for Clockwise (C). For instance: a 90-degree CC rotation is the same as a 270-degree C rotation. A 180-degree rotation is the same either way, and 270-degree CC rotation is the same as a 90-degree C rotation. The CC rules described will work for those equivalent C rotations.
Man ur better than my math teacher. My math teacher only ask us to do exercise and HW without explaining more details. Thanks, You saved me from detention.
BEST YOU TUBE VIDEO EVER!!!!!!!!! I have an SOL geometry test (standards of learning test in Virginia) today and Im not good with rotations AND THIS MADE IT SO CLEAR!!!! THANK YOU MARK FOR SAVING ME
Thank you, you really saved me! I was getting stressed out a little bit. the way my teacher explained it was a bit more complicated, but you clarified everything! :D
thanks so much in my class we have no teacher and the subs are not making sense for what the examples they are giving us. It has helped so much that i am going to give my classmates the link.
YOU SAVED ME!!! thanky you a lot! I was struggling with this topic for a whole month 'cuz i didn't grt what my teacher was trying to tell me. And you explained me this so briefly and now i feel the wag better!
You explained this electronicly. Hw could we draw it so easily on paper. . Where just a image is given without cordinates and u have to give it a quarter or half turn
Learners can enhance their understanding by following chronological steps and also do hands on practice of fresh questions. Also applies to other transformations.
This is a great instructional video. I'm wondering what programs you used to film this, as I am looking to create videos similar to this for my French Immersion classroom. Your input is welcome! Thanks!
+Salwa Azam 90 degrees clockwise is the same as 270 degrees counterclockwise, so you could use the rule for 270 degrees counterclockwise. 270 degrees clockwise is the same as 90 degrees counterclockwise.
You teach better than my math teacher ever can, thank you
You have thought me more in 15 minutes then my teacher has taught me in a month. THANK YOU!!❤️❤️
True dat
Dude, thank you so freaking much! I had no idea what to do on my homework because my teacher doesn't teach...but now I know EXACTLY what I'm doing! You saved my butt!

Why do we even go to school when we have these!?
This helped a lot, thanks :D
i know right!
ya right
Exactly
This is social media help. Not 100% help. You can't get any quuestion's answer instantly as you may get in class quickly.
This doesn’t get you a diploma
I missed a day of school and this helped out a bunch. Thanks Mark!
Konkola same
Konkola same I got suspended for a day and they made me sit out another day so 2 math classes I missed...
i missed school yesterday 😭 and my teacher has no chill bc she just gave me a packet of this
I have had a substitute teacher for over a month now, and we were just expected to know how to do thisn. Thank you so much for this. It really helped.

+Mark Ophaug it helped my teacher taught it today
It helped me a lot about this rotation transformation thingy. Thanks thou
Your shortcut is going to help my 8th graders so much tomorrow!
Man ur better than my math teacher. My math teacher only ask us to do exercise and HW without explaining more details. Thanks, You saved me from detention.
9 months of school and you delivered it way better than my teacher did. AND YOU DID THIS IN just 15 minutes. I thank you.
This dude go into more detail then my math teacher, thanks man!
**sees this video**
*later*
**classmates wondering why im rotating the test**
I am a Special Ed teacher great video....simple and easy. My student loved it.
This helped so much!!!!!!!! Thank you I have a test in 2 hours and I would have failed if it wasn't for you!!!!!!
Same lol
Thanks, I'm going to share this with my class tomorrow. You showed me how to do a few tricks on the promethean board too.
BEST YOU TUBE VIDEO EVER!!!!!!!!! I have an SOL geometry test (standards of learning test in Virginia) today and Im not good with rotations AND THIS MADE IT SO CLEAR!!!! THANK YOU MARK FOR SAVING ME
thanks. high school geometry is tough, and this helped me get an a on my quater exam
I’m in 8th grade......tf is this
wait High School yo what school do you go to I have this in 8th grade
Don't give out personal information on the internet, anyone could see it
Thank you, you really saved me! I was getting stressed out a little bit. the way my teacher explained it was a bit more complicated, but you clarified everything! :D

you just made my quarantine a lot easier. thank
duuude that short cut is so beast
I love the video, it really helped me with my math. Also, I love the way you presented it with ActiveInspire!
Thanks for your help :) It's much clearer now
thanks so much in my class we have no teacher and the subs are not making sense for what the examples they are giving us. It has helped so much that i am going to give my classmates the link.
This helped me a lot with my 7th grade exam!!Thxxx🤙🏼
u saved me on my test god bless u
Thank you! I got a 97% on my project from watching this video! (We had to do 20 points minimum tho) but this helped a ton.
I swear my brain opened up after watching this thank you so much for sharing this it is extremely helpful.
YOU SAVED ME!!! thanky you a lot! I was struggling with this topic for a whole month 'cuz i didn't grt what my teacher was trying to tell me. And you explained me this so briefly and now i feel the wag better!
this was really helpful when you are in middle school learning advanced math thx
Thank you for saving my geometry grade
Outstanding! Well done sir!
So thank you for helping me on rotations. My teacher explains fast :)
You explained this electronicly. Hw could we draw it so easily on paper. . Where just a image is given without cordinates and u have to give it a quarter or half turn
use a protractor
Write down the coordinates and then use that shortcut
Omg thanks so much the shortcut was a life saver !!!!
Thank you so much! This Helped me soo much i struggled a little bit on rotating for geography now i know how and i am prepared for my Math finals :D
Thanks a lot you really helped me in my math exam !!
+Rokaya Abbas shut up you are a piece of shiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttt
Thank you so much for this ! this really help me understand better!
i forgot everything at school math and tmr my test will be transformation now im learning from you thx a bunch
Thank you for the help
thank you soooooo much i have a test coming up and this helped me alot
Thank you. It help me a lot.
thanks for the video very great teaching
I missed 3 days of school and I’m trying to catch up but I got lost on rotations so this helped thank you
very good explanation
Yo thanks dude! Extremely helpful 👍🏻.
Thank you Mr. Ophaug :)

thankyou so much this video is very helpful !!!!!
Thank You Mr.Ophaug

it helps me a lot thanks...:D
awesome
THANK YOU YOUR A LEGEND
Great video!😁
thx for helping i passed my test
+Mini_Superman786 you are an idiot
Thanks bro really helped
is this only around the origin or for any other point you want to rotate around Mark Ophaug
What would you do for an 110 degree rotation around a certain point?
Thanks so much i actually did my Homework for once
So good!
that helped so much
thanks dude!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I love your video! I especially love where you rotated the axes of the coordinate plane. Can you tell me what program or app you used?
Josepha McCoy
No, I never did, but I see your comment below. Thanks!
axis
What software are you using for the graphing the figures?
6:12 WOAH
thx
Live saver thanks soooo much
Apologies for the delay... I used Promethean's ActivInspire to create/demonstrate the content.
+Mark Ophaug hello sir do you do private tutoring.
+Mark Ophaug dude u are a savior
+Leo Grant no
Thank you soooo much!!!!!
thank youuuu :)
What if you are given a centre of rotation. How can u go about that
thank youuuu
in the 180, if you had a negative x, would that x turn into a positive or stay a negative
can u do a video about how to do transformations please.
180 degrees counter clockwise?
you would take your original x and y then you’d make them both negatives, so it’d be ,(-x,-y) .
But look at the rule for 180 against the values they inter change...am lost
thank you
This is a great instructional video. I'm wondering what programs you used to film this, as I am looking to create videos similar to this for my French Immersion classroom. Your input is welcome! Thanks!
On my Mac, I used QuickTime to do the screen recording and iMovie to edit video. I used ActivInspire to create the slides. Hope this helps!
@@markophaug2849 That was my question too. (Special ed teacher in NJ). You do a great job!
399th subscriber!
one problem you only do countee clock wise
What if it doesn't turn 90, 180 and 270 degree's. like what if it turns 70 degree's, what's the formula? Thnxs
Also what if the rotation is clockwise?
You need to use a rotation matrix consisting of sines and cosines in the proper order and using 70 degrees in radians.
It doesnt work for me and im 12 idk if its cuz im dumb or im too young for this but im soooo stressed i cant get it to workkkk ;-;
ive been searching for a rotation around a for sometime now and i cant find it help
are you a teacher cause you should be one thanks for the help
thank U man
Hey the rule thing, you the x and y changes to negative and positive thing, that rule is the same for clockwise and counterclockwise right?
If it's a 180 degree rotation, the rule is the same for both counterclockwise and clockwise.
Mark Ophaug Oh my god thanks so much for replying right now, needed it :')
ok so what if its 90 degree or 270 degree it doesn't apply?
+Salwa Azam 90 degrees clockwise is the same as 270 degrees counterclockwise, so you could use the rule for 270 degrees counterclockwise. 270 degrees clockwise is the same as 90 degrees counterclockwise.
wowo thank u !
I’m literally in year 6 and our things are this hard :,(
Um
How do u do clockwise?
BTS A.R.M.Y J-Hope i think its the same because i turnes my H.W in like the counter clock wise and still got it right........
In my class we learn 90° and 180°.
I still don't get it
