- This video reviews the rules used for rotating figures in a coordinate plane about the origin. At the 10:20 mark, there is a shortcut demonstrated that can be used to as an alternative method.

I have had a substitute teacher for over a month now, and we were just expected to know how to do thisn. Thank you so much for this. It really helped.
The book we use only covered Counter-clockwise (CC). But, you can still use the CC rules for Clockwise (C). For instance: a 90-degree CC rotation is the same as a 270-degree C rotation. A 180-degree rotation is the same either way, and 270-degree CC rotation is the same as a 90-degree C rotation. The CC rules described will work for those equivalent C rotations.

use a protractor
Write down the coordinates and then use that shortcut

What if you are given a centre of rotation. How can u go about that

in the 180, if you had a negative x, would that x turn into a positive or stay a negative

180 degrees counter clockwise?
you would take your original x and y then you’d make them both negatives, so it’d be ,(-x,-y) .
But look at the rule for 180 against the values they inter change...am lost

On my Mac, I used QuickTime to do the screen recording and iMovie to edit video. I used ActivInspire to create the slides. Hope this helps!

What if it doesn't turn 90, 180 and 270 degree's. like what if it turns 70 degree's, what's the formula? Thnxs
Also what if the rotation is clockwise?
You need to use a rotation matrix consisting of sines and cosines in the proper order and using 70 degrees in radians.
It doesnt work for me and im 12 idk if its cuz im dumb or im too young for this but im soooo stressed i cant get it to workkkk ;-;

Hey the rule thing, you the x and y changes to negative and positive thing, that rule is the same for clockwise and counterclockwise right?
If it's a 180 degree rotation, the rule is the same for both counterclockwise and clockwise.

+Salwa Azam 90 degrees clockwise is the same as 270 degrees counterclockwise, so you could use the rule for 270 degrees counterclockwise. 270 degrees clockwise is the same as 90 degrees counterclockwise.
