I was born and raised in Woodlawn in 1971. I lived on 63rd & Kimbark and 64th and Dorchester. My family and I attended Wadsworth & Carnigie Elementary schools and Hyde Park HS. It look so weird between Stony Island & Cottage Grove with no El tracks and buildings.
I wish there was a version of 63rd St. when I lived in Chicago 1940-1967 when I left for Sunny California! It was a vibrant community now it looks like bombs were dropped all over the southside whole blocks gone, blocks with 2 buildings still standing a damn dirty shame!
Maaan, the memories!! 4:45- My Dulles! (Good times, bad times). There used to be Vito’s Market where that Save A Lot is. 4:53- The dreaded train yard! Doesn’t look so scary now, lol. 5:05- 220 E 63rd. Sometimes rough, sometimes cool; I got picked on a lot. Great acoustics in the stairwells. Roberts Motel was across the street, and I could have sworn I saw the Jackson Five “looking thru the window” once. I was looking for Englewood High (the “new version”)-GO EAGLES!! I must have missed it. Everything past Yale is so different. At that time, black folks didn’t really go west of Western, so that’s as far as I knew. Thanks for the ride!! ❤❤❤
Dumbest CTA/City of Chicago move ever to tear down the El between Stony Island and Cottage. Bus riders from the Stony Island and Jefrey and Yates busses used to transfer to the El at 63rd and Stony by the thousands.
i just went there last night it was something no bullshit i went there at 2 am in the morning cops everywhere and there was an angry black chick with her kids trying fast and cutting off cars and turning like.crazy while.she on the phone and by the way i can tell in the summer that they be out there deep IM.ALSO FROM CHICAGO
You're right it was early in the morning. I was experimenting with different settings. I do have identical footage from the day also which I will bring in the future. Thanks for your feedback and hope you enjoy the videos.

Honestly it would still be worth the investment to rebuild it
