  • The 63rd Street is one of the main roads on the southside of Chicago. It runs through many neighborhoods like Woodlawn, Washington Park, Englewood, West Englewood, Chicago Lawn, West Lawn and so on.

Back in the day, 50 to 60 years ago, 63rd and Kedzie was the downtown of the Southwest Side. Now, it seems that most of the buildings there are either torn down or abandoned. My mom and grandmother used to go shopping there all the time.
When they put that giant statue of an Indian on top of the building at 63rd & Pulaski, more than a few of us thought it was in bad taste, and an eyesore. Now it appears to be something of a landmark.

What a trip down memory lane. Right near the end they passed 63rd and Kolin. I lived at 59th and Kolin. When I was 3 years old and just arrived in the neighborhood I wandered off and ended up at the drug store that was on the corner of 63rd and Koilin. The guy who owned the drug store who looked like Clark Kent found me and called the cops. They picked me up and took me to the police station where eventually my parents showed up to claim me. The cops gave me ice cream and it was all good. I joined the Air Force in 1968 and ended up in California. Thanks for the video it was great.
