Chicago was built in 1820, rebuilt in 1872 after the largest fire which took thousands of it's buildings. Chicago was already a major large city by the 1850s, with semi tall Italianate buildings and big late federal into neoclassical era hotels (1830s-1840s), definitely a large city. When it was redone, it changed the entire building plan of everything and only started to get larger around the 1910s thanks to a hit in gold, coal, and oil, also metro. New York cities modern section was built in a block grid, in the 1800-1810 time period and was the most modern area with mansions and federal town architecture/churches of a less fire laden world. Lower New York city was built in 1623, and so is very very unique.

While I would never move back into the city (and honestly have anxiety thinking about even visiting), I do miss sitting by the Lakefront near Foster Beach around 7:30am during mid-late summer. It was so peaceful and helped me through a really dark time in my life. I also loved watching the sunrise from the bus on my way to work 🙂 many deep thoughts were had on those bus rides 🙃

Nice video even if, in my opinion, you dwell too much on the boats at the end of the video. In the end they are just boats of rich people, stuff already seen, I think there would have been more to see.
